Great Food & Service! A little noisy, but overall was wonderful!
We arrived on time for our reservation (at the same time they open) and that seemed to really throw them off.
Once seated, I asked our server if they had any specials and she was so rude with her answer as there weren't any and didn't seem to care for the question.
I then asked what she would recommend and it's as if she never eats there, she said she didn't know what I meant. She then proceeded to take our drink orders but skipped me when asking about appetizers.
My dish was super salty and the focaccia was more like cornbread and burnt on the bottom. I didn't say anything about the food since I still seemed to be high maintanence with my two questions I asked in the beginning. The biggest let down is that I chose the restaurant and was so excited about the experiences I've rea online! It was really deflating
Food quality has deteriorated, tables are way too close and noise level is ridiculous (super hard to hear anything). Wish for the prior days when things used to be much nicer!
Always good but a little pricey.
I had been looking forward to trying this place for over a year and was deeply disappointed.
Firstly, service was poor. We waited probably 10 minutes just for the server to approach our table and take drink orders. Mind you, this was before the place got busy. Food was also very slow to come out and was cold.
The quality of food was also incredibly disappointing. I would have fared better at the Olive Garden, and I would consider the Olive Garden an abomination and waste of precious resources. Both the artichoke and pork belly were overcooked and under seasoned. The pasta, which I thought would be handmade, did not seem to be handmade. The sauce was too salty, and lacked any sort of interesting flavor. This restaurant is clearly for those with an unsophisticated palate.
Additionally, it was so dark and so loud in this place. I couldn’t see my food or hear the people next to me. Plus I was worried the place was going to burn down with the candles right next to the wall!
Such a disappointment. 0/10. Would not go back. Not worth me getting dressed up, getting my hair pressed, and leaving my house. I should have stayed home.
Great service, great food, great experience!
Ambiance and service were too rated. Good wine selection and food came piping hot. A little overboard on the pepper on the pasta and risotto too. Black cod was cooked perfection. Braised short ribs over polenta was tasty. Ordered Brussels sprouts on the side and never did receive it. Forgot to check to see if we were charged for it.
Came here for my birthday and had a wonderful time. Staff were super friendly and attentive. Food 10/10
Warm and inviting ambiance, delicious food, friendly staff. Excellent. It's where I want to go when I want a quiet meal with my husband.
Wonderful food and service.
This is our favorite restaurant and we go here for all of our special occasions!
need to upgrade their ventilation, love to smell umami aromas but don't like the smell of fryer or fried foods
Food was amazing, as always. Service is second to none. This is a neighborhood gem that gets it - elevated without pretense.
Fantastic food! The homemade pasta is my favorite. Great service even at a time when so many restaurants are short staffed with over worked employees, Cantinetta finds a way to make it feel like it’s old times
I had a gift card to this restaurant and this was the first time I had been there. Despite the relatively small menu, everything we had was amazing!! The Burrata with Figs and Prosciutto was our AntiPasti and it was a generous portion of yummy-ness! We all had a different Prime's - Gnudi, Ravioli, and Tortilla and we shared bites so that we could all enjoy everything! We ended the evening with Tiramisu and Panna Cotta! Pair all of this with a delicious bottle of red wine and we counted the evening as a resounding success! I don't know how I have lived so close to this restaurant and never visited before...but I will definitely be back!
Outside around the fire and shelter was wonderful: eating tapas style with our plates next to the fire. Felt like our own special spot.
Food was absolutely amazing. We had a family Christmas dinner and every single person mentioned that they wanted to come back.
Really great find. A neighborhood restaurant with great food and ambiance!! I highly recommend it!!
We always have fun and a delicious meal at the Wallingford Cantinetta.
Food was okay, service was great. It was very loud with no insulation so it was difficult to hear.
We had to wait 40 minutes after our reservation time for our table. The restaurant did the best to serve drinks to us outside while we waited, but they should instigate a table time limit, as 40 minutes is unacceptable. Once seated, the service was excellent.
A favorite of mine. Unfortunately a month or two ago I was late by a minute and was told that my reservation was given away. So the front desk has decided to be a bit testy of late. But I get it, and the answer is not to be late! Great place.
Outstanding environs, food and service. This place has a great bar, too, with a good overall feel. We’ll go back.
Date night with wife
Great experience. Fantastic food and exemplary service!
Lovely food, a little pricey per course. Nice ambiance.
One of the few places we go where the reality always lives up to the anticipation. Pasta is flawless!
This cozy neighborhood Italian spot has delicious food and drinks. The ambiance is comfortable, yet sophisticated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Went to celebrate a birthday, and they made it special.
Just your typical Friday date night.
Had dinner here Friday night. The place was packed but we were seated promptly at the reserved time. Amy, our server, and Trevor, the owner, took great care of us. Explained the wine list and paired our wines to match the food. What special service !!! Food was outstanding: Fried artichoke hearts app, parpardelli bolognese for my wife, and a killer short rib with mushroom polenta for me. YUM ! All good ! Can't wait to go back. Soon !!!
Lovely bistro in the wallingford neighborhood. Dark, cozy, filled with candlelight and lively conversation. A full bar, outdoor seating that is wonderfully creative (though not waterproof), and a kindness and conscientiousness shared by every server. Our meal was creative, impeccably prepared, and delicious. Only reason it is not five out of five is that they ran out of several items by the time we ordered at 7:15 and service, while thoughtful and friendly, was slower than expected with reminders needed for one or two items. Nonetheless, I would return in a heartbeat and look forward to my next experience at this beautiful little gem.
Sat outside, even with the rain, it was quite nice. Fire pits are positioned well, loved those. Food was amazing, the risotto, wow, and the cod, wow, and the cocktails, and the service, top notch. Can't wait to come back, thank you!!
Cantinetta-Wallingford is one of the best Italian restaurants we have ever had the pleasure of dining. The only downside was having to sit outside- never the less we had a wonderful meal.
Very strong drinks! Delicious food. Friendly staff.
Excellent food and service! Great place for a date.
Everything was just outstanding.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and venue.
Always a pleasure. I like the minimalism of the menu, which provides plenty of options. The service is always stellar. Reservations are a must at this popular place. Because it is busy, it is always noisy... just lean in to converse.
Who knew that deep fried artichokes paired so good with a dirty gin martini?
Great food, great service and solid ambience. Big fan of this local neighborhood favorite! They’ve also got a great outdoor setup complete with fire pits by each table, great for folks wanting an extra Covid-safe table!
Wonderful food and presentation. Impressive cocktail selection. We waited an hour for our table, possibly due to it being a rainy night and nobody wanting to sit outside.
