Always great food! If you’re looking for hot chile, 9/10 times you’re in the right place. The chicken stuffed chile rellenos are delicious!
We arrived for our 7:30 reservation and our table was already set up and waiting for our group of 5. The hostess was very friendly and greeted us with a big smile. At first, we were seated in the restaurant we had a difficult time hearing each other because it was extremely loud. We asked to move outside to the patio and the manager and staff were very accommodating, even though there was not a table large enough to seat us. They joined a couple of tables together to fit our group and it worked perfectly. The wait staff was very professional and friendly and the food quality was great.
The only suggestions I would make is to install some sound panels to control the loudness and place some type of decorations on the wall to give the restaurant a cozier feel, it feels very cold (not temperature) and sterile, not homey.
Overall, excellent experience!
Their gluten-free labels are inaccurate. Be sure to ask the server to check with the cook staff.
We were looking forward to our dinner there. Like the concept.
But it clearly is going thru it’s start up phase.
Drinks were excellent.
Food was so, so.
The wait staff were energetic but seemed to be learning as they went.
We were looking forward to the street tacos. Disappointed that a person could not order a mix of tacos.
Server explained it was too hard to do..???
We’ll probably try again after a few months after they get their act together both on operation and food.
In the meantime it’s a good place for a margarita.
I will not be revisiting this restaurant. Food was bland, Taco's were boring
I ordered avocado toast ($13) from the appetizer menu and a crab/lobster taco. The appetizer was the meal. The taco tasted good, but for $9 the size of the taco was 2.5 inches. 3 tacos for $10-13 would've been more worth it. My husband ordered the mole enchiladas. A great taste and meal size. The only reason The dessert Chimis were delicious I gave 4 stars over 5 was the taco size and prices.
The food was very good but waiting more than an hour, when it was obviously a slow Sunday evening was very disappointing. The kitchen even shut down equipment so we couldn’t get our free sopaipillas added insult to a birthday dinner.
Too loud and food was pretty poor. Not even close to being worthwhile
I made reservations online for my birthday party. I had received a text the night before for me to confirm my reservation and I got a message back saying that I was all set. When I got to he restaurant they said that they’re online reservations aren’t set up yet. They asked how many people I was expecting I said at least 10-12 and they weren’t happy about it. They put some tables together for me. They made an old couple move tables to give us their table. There were 3 other open tables next to us that we could’ve used and not have the couple change tables- then the manager came up to us and told us that he comped their meal and that we should thank them for moving. I was appalled by this. I should thank someone for a poor choice that the staff made on top of not being accommodating and rude about me having a reservation and your reservation system not working. I choose to bring you business and a large party who spent their money. It’s a shame-the food is fantastic but the service and management is terrible.
Went with a group of five--made a reservation. Great, comfortable booth and fun, interesting room to dine in. Our meals were excellent and our server was top-notch. Fun place for a group!
From having an issue on their end with Opentable therefore no record of our reservation to rude and very slooow wait staff to luke warm food. Personally, save your money and dine somewhere else.
I do not recommend Cantina Nueva. 1) The ambient noise level was far too high. There is no sound deadening. 2) Every time the outside door opened a rush of cold air entered the dining area. 3) Late in the afternoon the sun entered the dining area directly into my eyes and was too bright. There were no curtains or shades to block out the direct sunlight. 4) The tables are set up for 4 persons. If 2 people are dining, the table size is acceptable. If 4 people are dining, the table size is far too small.
What a shame. Cantina Nueva is a brand new restaurant and the flaws described above could have been prevented relatively easily with a little forethought. I do not plan to return to Cantina Nueva and I do not recommend this restaurant to others.
Creative food; mahi mahi street tacos were excellent. A bit too noisy for conversation. 😞
Something gave several of us upset stomachs. We're thinking it was the salsa. The place is too noisy. If you're going to spend a lot of money designing and building a new facility with a high ceiling, why not put in some sound deadening ! Tough to enjoy the company of friends when you have to raise your voices to be heard.
Surprising very good for a new restaurant!
