Cantina Laredo - Jacksonville
Our party of four arrived several hours early for our reservation . The staff was friendly and happily accommodated us. Our server was very pleasant, and we started our meal with table side guacamole, which was delicious! She gave us ample time to make our entree selections and checked bs k with us to make sure we had everything we needed. A fun afternoon with delicious food!
I arrived early and had to wait due to the holiday, which was no problem. Instead of checking me early, when I was seated after about an hour I learned that rather than checking me in, they had cancelled my reservation. I had already spoken to a manager about empty tables, in excess of 15 in the restaurant that they were holding for reservations that may or may not show up. People could have been seated and completed their meal in at least half of the tables they were holding for reservations, which would have helped with the backup of walk-ins. The reservation police CERTAINLY needs to be looked at by corporate, unless this manager simply does not know how to run a retaurant efficiently. Perhaps it is a training issue. I had to speak with another manager regarding the cancellation of my reservation in order for him to do whatever what was required to confirm it for my Open Table confirmation and points. He also was extremely rude and made it seem to be a huge imposition. I eat hear frequently and food is always good, but I certainly will never go again on a holiday.
Made a reservation; arrived 10mins early & was promptly seated. Server was great, food was fantastic. Will definitely visit again.
It was delicious! I always have a great meal here!
The food was bland. My husband had to salt the rice which should never happen at a Mexican restaurant.
The food is always great and the service was fast without overlapping courses.
We had a great experience but certainly wish the entrees had arrived AFTER the appetizers.
Everything tasted good but we have been blown away at Cantjna before. This visit was just ok.
I usually love the Cantina but this was a disappointing visit. When I walked in, there was no one at the hostess podium ... and the restaurant wasn't busy. After a few minutes the manager came over and asked what could he do for me and when the hostess came up a few minutes later, she seated us at a booth, that had the material on the seat torn. We waited for over 10 minutes for our server to come to our table and ask what we wanted to drink. Since we had been waiting, we gave her our complete orders right then and did request the top shelf guacamole as an appetizer. Our server then asked did we want it made at the table or in the back. We always have ordered the guacamole and we were never asked that before. It was always made at the table. When the food arrived, my Acapulco was plenty but it lacked seasoning and had too much melted cheese all over the plate. My friend's carnitas were very small and also lacked seasoning. We also had ordered half sweet and half unsweetened iced tea and the first glass was o.k. When we got a refill it tasted unsweetened so we asked the server if she could add some sweet to it. After some time waiting, she came back with the teas and said she had to make the sweet because they ran out. She didn't say it but I believe that's why we had unsweetened tea served to us on the refills. We're usually very happy when we eat here but this was a disappointing visit. I would like to say that the waitress was friendly and even though she wasn't on top of things, I thought she might have been new at the job. We will return but we're hoping for a better experience.
Awesome food and service. This is our restaurant for date night.
Excellent food and good value. We enjoyed our leftovers today for lunch. Liane, our server was very helpful. We had some guests in from out of town and they had never been to Cantina. They thoroughly appreciated it too.
No complaints. The fresh made-at-tableside guacamole was very good, though not quite as good as some of Cantina's earlier formulations. Still, there was no leftover guac on our table. The steak fajitas were tasty with no gristle and were cooked precisely to order. Service was efficient. Drinks were good. Prices were OK. The steak fajitas are the best I've tried in Jacksonville, for what that's worth. Noise was within functional limits. Open Table's noise scale goes from "Moderate" to "Energetic." Was this scale concocted by an incurably extroverted 22 year-old? "Energetic" is not the adjective I'd assign to noise so loud that it's at pain level and adversely affects the quality of the dining experience. The walls of Cantina Laredo are smooth and bounce noise around, so I have seen it get uncomfortably noisy there when it's crowded. Fortunately, we beat the noisy hours by dining early.
Thoroughly enjoyed our late lunch. Loved the decor and atmosphere, service was great, drinks terrific and food excellent
We regularly go to Cantina Laredo for date night. On this particular Saturday the service was very poor. Once we were seated it took around 10 minutes for our server to greet us and take our drink orders. Also she did not offer any chips and salsa. We had to ask for it. My husband’s order was not correct. She also did not check in with us regarding the fiod or drinks. The server didn’t offer an apology. Usually the service is awesome, but not this time. I am hoping this was a just a bad day and not an indication of how how the service will be going forward.
The food and the service were great. We had a nice evening.
Food wasn't as good as normal and the margaritas were terrible. Our server was very nice but she was double sat towards the end of our meal and was struggling a lot. The table beside us was also dirty the entire meal. Not horrible offenses, I'll be back, but easy things to fix.
The food was mediocre for the price we paid. I could of gotten better food at chili's .
Good drinks menu. Service was top notch. Really enjoyed the ambience.
This was my favorite restaurant in Jacksonville even a year ago. Not sure if it is management, staff or corporate controlling the food but this is the scond time you let me down. Sadly this was my birthday celebration and I waited all year to have the Apple Pie dessert. Please get it together or we won’t be back.
Great as usual with exception of sweeping going on right next to our table
We are regulars at Cantina Laredo. The service last Sunday evening was not what we expected! It took over 8 minutes to be greeted at our table after being seated. The waitress finally came over and spoke so softly, we couldn’t hear her. She took drink order and disappeared. We waited nearly 10 minutes and still no drink and no chips and salsa.
I finally got the attention of another waiter and he said that our waitress would bring chips. Still no chips....
Finally, that same waiter that I previously asked for chips reappeared with our chips because he saw that we still hadn’t received them. Service was “off” and menu had changed. They took off our favorite Avocado enchiladas and don’t bring a variety of salsas to the table any more.
Food was good but service left a lot to be desired. Either have a chip runner or train waitresses to bring upon greeting.
Great food as always
Waitress seemed annoyed at being there but, great food
Waitress wasn’t so friendly -kinda grouchy up front then she turned it around a bit. Everything else was great.
Quick in and out good food and drinks
Great dining experience. Great food and great service
Service was inconsistent - we looked for our waitstaff a couple of times ( to get cutlery, to place our order) and they were no where to be seen. On the other hand, whoever was serving our drinks was very attentive. The food tasted delicious while at the Restaurant, however, four out of five in our party had stomach issues that night and the next day. Was it the chicken? The experience was not what we expected for this special birthday dinner.
Food was good as usual but had to keep asking if someone would get our server. Drink was made wrong, had salt on the rim and not sugar. Bartender didn’t remake drink just poured it in another glass. It was a layered margarita
Cantina Laredo is always a nice place for upscale Mexican food.. the margaritas are good, quesadillas, and the enchiladas.. and don't forget the guacamole.. very good... I recommend this place for a date night..
Jeremy was a really great waiter. Or good came out quick and hot, very most chicken and steak dishes. The table side guac is a must have!!
Fantastic food and amazing service! Olivia was our server and she made excellent recommendations! We will surely be back!
The food at Cantina Laredo was amazing. I took my husband here for his birthday based on a recommendation from a friend who told me the guacamole was the best - and it was really fresh and delicious. All other food was great too. The one thing that disappointed me was the service. Our waiter was not up to par in waiting on our table. It took around 30 minutes to an hour to receive everything and for our waiter to come check on us. My husband (again who was celebrating his birthday) asked for a Corona and around 45 minutes later, the waiter on his way around the restaurant stopped by our table to say that it was "coming up". Our dinner was almost done so he said to not worry about it. Our reservation was 5:45. We finished our dinner at 6:45 and were not out of the restaurant until past 7:45 because the waiter was talking to the table in front of us for a super long time. I wish he would have been better considering he knew we were celebrating something special and we all still tipped him regardless of how terrible the service was.
We go every few months. Always good, always predictable, always consistent. Best tableside guacamole hands down. Only downside is that it is, and has always been, very overpriced for what you get.
The Top-Shelf Guacamole and the Mexican Apple Pie are the two best items on the menu here. The carnitas were a little drier than we usually get here, the fried corn side dish was offensive in its flavor, and the Mojito was without the usual sugar cane today. When inquiring about the lack of a sugar cane in our Mojito, our waitress said it was because the bartender was out of them. Duh! In my opinion, the sugar cane is what separates the Mojito here from Mojitos in other restaurants. Overall, a very good dining experience, but not the highest quality that we’re used to here.
The best TexMex in Jax. Excellent service
Not impress with the drunks but food was ok
My husband and I go to Cantina Laredo at least once a month for date night. It is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is great and the service is outstanding.
Food was great. We were meeting another couple for dinner. Told hostess when seating us that other couple was on way. When they arrived (we were already seated) they were told we had not arrived and put them on other side of restaurant. After a while We decided to walk around restaurant to see if they were there. Low and behold we found them. We got together with them and our waiter became non existent. Lousy service from all.
Excellent meal today, great service with Israel.
Food was over cooked and the service was subpar. We had to ask twice to get a small plate so we could share, same for getting a new napkin and one other thing. Not upscale in terms of the food at all! The Mexican food is better at local family restaurants than this place and for much less in price.
We had amazing service from Israel !!! Our food was delicious!! My tea glass stayed full !!! We will definitely be back . Great lunch !!
The patio area is dog friendly and customer service was amazing! Margaritas are always great!
