Very good and flavorful food especially at this price point.
Great drinks! Food and service was just OK. I had the stuffed bell pepper steak. Although it was good, I was somewhat disappointed that the food didn’t match the marketing messaging identifying it as upscale Mexican food.
The food was great, it surpassed my expectations and I loved the ambiance . My date couldn't stop talking about the fireplace as we dined. I will definitely return in the future.
We love Cantina Laredo but something needs to be done about the noise level. It’s impossible to hear people sitting just one foot away. Management should consider hanging sound absorbing tiles or tapestries from the ceiling.
Excellent night for my family and I. We had a party of six and it was great with awesome food.
Food was cold
Took over 30 minutes to get a second margarita
6 colleagues together after a long fligh. Half of us there for the first time by reccomendation from the rest of us.
All very happy with our meal. The guacsmole and chips is fantastic, great drinks and food. Cool architecture and like the atmosphere. Good value. Reccomended and we all look forward to another visit when we vome back to Chicago.
Ottimo cibo , personale giovane e simpatico , cibo più che buono : da provare
Best Mexican in Chicago! Very tasty and great margs!
Very disappointed - lady who greeted us said to wait while she looked for a table then fiddled with her computer for ages. When asked what was wrong eventually, she said “oh I’m waiting for the other lady to take you to your table”!. This was at least inept - she could have spoken to us!! It was bordering on rude - not a good start! Then the fish my wife had was expensive, not especially fresh, over cooked and dry (mentioned to waiter but not discounted from bill). Guacamole table side was comfortably best bit but not that special. Beans seemed canned to me. Tortillas did not seem freshly made. My son’s steak strips in his tacos were dry and lacked flavour. The rest was acceptable but only just about. This place seems popular, probably due to the place itself, which is very nice but eventually people will wise up and move on to the countless other eateries in Chicago that offer better food, fresher ingredients, better service and better value than this place. My advice if you’re thinks by about eating here - think again!
Server was terrible. Went for lunch, only three tables were seated, never saw server after order, except when she brought the bill. She forgot our appetizer, had to track her down to the far corner of the restaurant where she was texting on her phone.
I come here a lot and it's great every time. The facilities are beautiful. The food is good and the margaritas are amazing. Either the house margarita or the one with Grand Marnier are great.
Our server was great but the food was terrible. Completely bland with many a short cut taken. I ordered the rellleno that claimed to have fresh shrimp and Mexican street corn but it was basically canned corn and it was absolutely drenched in cheese. Also, the people who gave one star reviews and said the chicken was the frozen Tyson precooked strips are absolutely right! Who can’t even make a fresh chicken breast to dice up for tacos?! We’re from LA so we know “authentic” Mexican and this place does not have it.
Good food and location
Great drinks and fresh guac made in front of you was awesome
Food quality was good and portion sizes was right for diet conscious eaters like us. Place was packed on a weekday - people do like this place. Disappointed with quality of drinks - too high priced for the quality of drinks served -order beer or wine - you will be safe. May be a bartender issue - otherwise - a great place to dine in River north.
Great food and service. I can't wait to go back and it's sure to be one of my favorites.
Food was great. Service a little slow but they were busy.
Good food, great service, good value. Will go there again when I’m Chicago.
Great meal, loved the table side guac, service was fantastic. Reasonable prices, good ambiance, good location.
Cool atmosphere. Definitely order the guacamole - Food is really good and reasonable
Great food. Good veggie options.
Ive been heR several times and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing as is the service.
This was an important occasion for me since my mom was in town visiting me in Chicago. I wanted to take her somewhere trendy but still something simple as far as food goes. The atmosphere and architecture of Cantina Laredo is impeccable and the food is unbeatable! The prices are also extremely reasonable considering location, venue and the fact that it is in Chicago. 10/10 would recommend! Thank you for making my mom's visit part of the wonderful experience!
Been several times, it’s usually great. They had the nicer side of the room closed and put us at a table with the sun glaring in on us, very uncomfortable. The we ended up surrounded by large groups of loud folks. Out table of three was overwhelmed, we couldn’t have a conversation.
The food was not what we’re used to at Cantina Laredo, honestly, Taco Bell is better than the tasteless and bland fare we were served... Since it’s been great in the past we’ll go again but my hope is the manager has sense to open the side of the room that’s not on the glaring sun and to watch fur how they seat people. Small parties never do well when placed in the middle of multiple large seatings, it’s restaurant 101....
Wonderful atmosphere! Great happy hour specials! Will definitely be back
Great for families
The waiter was attentive. I asked for chips to go home, he kindly gave me a fresh bag to go...no charge. Food was excellent!
The fresh guac made tableside is everything!
Very nice place! Good food and drinks! Temperature could have been warmer.
Very popular restaurant, recommended by my colleague. Food was awesome!
Never been disappointed at Cantina Laredo. Food is excellent and service is spot on. One of my favorite restaurants to dine with a big group of friends.
I’ve been to Cantina Laredo several times and have always enjoyed it. I don’t know if they were having an off night, but it wasn’t quite the same when I went with my family on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday.
Our waiter was good, but the service was a bit slow. He did apologize for the wait, which is nice. It’s also a good thing that they bring nachos & salsa to the table right away. My two boys would have been miserable otherwise.
The food was fine, but not quite as I remember. I don’t know if I ordered something new or what. I had one of the combination dinners, and I was left full but underwhelmed by the fish overall.
Since I’ve had better experiences at Cantina Laredo, I’ll definitely give them the benefit of the doubt. It was good, but not as good as I remember.
Love coming here! Every time I’m in the city I try to come! Great good and great drinks!
Very nice surrounding, comfortable venue.
We came to Café Laredo to celebrate my daughters birthday. There were 6 adults. The table that we were seated at was very nice. It was a cold evening in Chicago and we were seated by the fire place. The margaritas we had were delicious and the table-side guacamole was great. When I go to a Mexican restaurant I almost always get the taco dinner. The traditional taco dinner at Café Laredo was horrible. I had better tacos at Taco Bell for much, much less than what I paid for here. I was very, very disappointed. Very little flavorless meat covered up with lettuce and tomato. Bad choice. However, my daughter got the Cancun which looked pretty tasty. I usually rate a Mexican restaurant by their tacos and Café Laredo failed. I may return, but I would not get the traditional taco dinner EVER again.
Everything was fabulous. My only discomfort was feeling very rushed by the wait staff.
Consistently great food and service.
Ambience and drinks are great. Food was very mediocre and of poor quality. I would not go back unless chef changed.
