It has a nice atmosphere, but the food was just average. People seemed to be drawn to the happy hour which has half price margaritas and beer until 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This is probably my fourth time eating at Cantina Laredo. Overall it's always a good experience. The server was very nice and prompt. However the mole enchiladas were a little dry maybe a little sauce and it would've been better. My family loved the drinks! This restaurant doesn't cheap out on alcohol. I hate paying for drinks that are watered down. Also the people who help with the water and plates should learn to greet the table. They came out out before the server and we didn't know who the server was at first and left a bad impression on my mom because no one said anything. Once the server came it everything was fine. Please always greet the table and communicate to your guests.

I met a good friend at Catina Laredo for a lunch date while she was passing through town. We were seated immediately. The waitress was patient with us while we chatted instead of ordering, and our food arrived unbelievably fast. I had the fajita chicken tacos; she enjoyed the carnitas tacos. Everything was excellent!! I highly recommend Cantina Laredo for your next get-together! I will certainly be returning.

The team was very patient as we were the last of 2 tables in the restaurant and they were shutting down shop. I am in the industry and hate the people we were actually being, but it was my brother who I haven't seen in forever and we were catching up until we saw certain lights turn off. Would like to extend and extra appreciation for them allowing us the time we did take.

Second time here and did not disappoint. Table side guacamole is a must. Super fresh ingredients and choice of mild, medium or hot. I had the Chicken Enchiladas Mole with black beans and rice. Yum. My wife had the Steak Enchiladas which she said were delicious and my daughter had the Fish Tacos with fresh salad like toppings. She loved it. Only improvement would be the servers personality could be a little more engaging. But maybe she was new. That won’t stop me from coming back!

Ambience is nice but I was not impressed with the food - the tomato rice was dry, the beans were mediocre and the mole enchiladas had way too much cheese. Definitely could tell this is a chain restaurant due to their lack of quality. When you open a Mexican restaurant in a town with many many excellent and authentic Mexican restaurants, your food must stand out and be amazing. Not sure how they survive in a high rent area - maybe they draw in the tourists with the pretty building & interior. However, we went on a weekday night & it was pretty dead inside. Disappointing.

Pleasantly surprised with this find! Was in Chicago for business and wanted an easy dinner after a long day of meetings. Stumbled across this restaurant, no wait on a Friday night, very large seating area for groups or intimate dates. Menu had a great assortment of traditional Mexican dishes and creative twists on classic favorites. The hotter salsa at the table was DELICIOUS! Table side guac is a must! Drinks were great, food arrived very quickly! Very affordable dinner that feels like a high-end trendier restaurant without the price or small plates. Will be back!

Only 1 person in our group of 7 enjoyed their meal. They had the chicken quesadillas. I ordered the steak tacos & the meat was cooked too rare for my tastes & not tender or flavorful. The chicken enchiladas were described by my friend as tasting "doughy" and lacked flavor. Overall it was disappointing, however our server was very nice & the drinks were tasty.

The location and interior of the restaurant are great but everything else was disappointing. Our server clearly did not want to be there. Very unfriendly and didn't listen. After taking our order, we knew it wasn't coming out right which it didn't. We could then see him texting while at the bar. The salsas were very good and the best part of the meal. The actual food was very bland which for a Mexican restaurant is very odd. The margarita's were delicious. I can only recommend drinks and appetizers.

Everything was great. The only drawback was that the restaurant was freezing. I’m not sure if they had some sort of airflow issues from the front of the restaurant or that the heating/cooling system was acting up but it was rather chilly and to top it off, we were seated next to the fireplace.

Third visit to Cantina Laredo for us...learning experience. Happy hour pricing for their basic margarita is $6 while regular price (larger glass) is $9.25. However, if you make a dinner reservation there you can't get the happy hour pricing unless you sit in the bar area, where seating is first come first served. We went at 5pm on a Thursday night and the dining tables were nearly all empty (and remained so until we left shortly after 6pm) but bar was crowded and was more crowded when we left. Food is excellent and very fresh authentic Mexican food. Bar attendant served us dinner at a high top bar table and we were able to get the casa ritas at happy hour pricing. Drinks are plenty strong.

Dined here while in Chicago based on a friend's recommendation. Very nice space, meal started out with great guacamole made table side. Unfortunately, went downhill from there. Waiter got my friend's order wrong, took over 10 minutes to flag him down. He offered to correct it, but she didn't want to keep the rest of us waiting. My fish tacos were Meh. To top things off, we were charged the higher price for the incorrect entree. Won't be back or recommending to anyone.

We enjoyed the restaurant overall and has a cool atmosphere. However, it was literally cool inside the restaurant when we got there and said something to the hostess and her reply was, "Ya, the whole restaurant has the AC on". It was cooler out and was raining so maybe adjust the AC if the customers are complaining??
The barbacoa enchiladas were tasty, the homemade guac was delish and a generous portion. The mini Ahi Taco's were excellent. The tortilla soup was good but a bit too heavy on the salt.

Birthday Dinner
Made a reservation for my mother's birthday. The food looked good and I love a good margarita.
One the OpenTable reservation, I noted my mother's name, it was her birthday and to add a brownie dessert to the bill for her bday. I also requested if possible, for them to write happy birthday on a plate.

Walking In
Our evening plans went much faster than planned, so we asked to move our 8pm reservation up to 7pm. The hosts were able to accommodate us no problem.

Our Service
The service was very funny and knowledgeable. He was able to answer any question and accommodate any request we made while at the table.

Dinner
Food came out fast and very delicious! Not authentic Mexican, but very very delicious. I had the carnitas tacos, my fiance had the steak fajita tacos and my mother had the enchiladas. All was very satisfying.

Drinks
I am a bit of a margarita purist. I DO NOT like that they add a splash of soda water to their drinks. Mine margarita was very sweet, I ordered the Skinny Marg. My mother LOVES frozen drinks, she said hers was very sweet and not well blended, you can see the chunks of ice in the drink

Dessert
The large table next to us had a birthday dinner, there were (3) desserts with sparklers that came out. It looked awesome! I was very excited for when my mother's dessert was going to come out. The server came by and asked if we wanted dessert, which I thought was weird. We said no, to not spoil the surprise. Then he brought the check. No dessert. So I excused myself to the restroom, went to the host stand and asked them about my request. They said they'd take care of it. Shortly after I returned to the table, the server walked up behind me and motioned to my mother (the birthday girl) if now was a good time to bring the birthday dessert. So that was a bit ruined. Also, in my request, I asked for no nuts, no one told me that the nuts are IN the brownie.

Overall, it was a nice dinner. Just double check on any special requests.

It is a visually interesting room, and the food was decent, especially the guacamole, which was prepared table side. But the margaritas (and these were the "special" margaritas) were quite awful, way too sweet unless you like tequila and Kool-Aid. I had to send mine back and ordered a glass of wine instead. If you can't get the Margaritas right at a Mexican restaurant, there's really no point.
