Cantina Laredo - Chicago
I absolutely loved this place. The ambience, food and service were excellent. However, there was one drawback...... they don't give you enough food. I ordered the Carne Asada. The steak was small and I had a child's portion of rice and beans. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, but I left there still hungry. I have never dined out and not taken home leftovers.
Food as usual was outstanding.. we specifically came for the table side guacamole and we were told you dont do that anymore.. okay but it’s still on your menu and when I made the reservation through open table it also said that tableside guacamole was an option.. I tried to inform the hostesses who really seemed to care less. sorry that this is no longer an option.
Excellent service! Very accommodating with an extra person adding to our party! They did forget to check us in for open table, but was corrected after a missed reservation notice was made.
Excellent food and service.
Overheard GM and workers bashing the President. Not impressed at all. I voted for him and whether they like it or not he's their President and deserves respect.
Won't be back and will share my experience with others.
Modern well maintained restaurant with good quality food and nice atmosphere. It will never be my favorite since I don’t like Mexican food but it great place to meet family and friends that do.
Wonderful meal and service. Comfortable seating. Will return.
The tacos and casa rita were delicious! Try the Mexican apple pie!
Consistent and reliable at all locations. Good "go-to" place for dinner.
Good food. Great atmosphere. Server was attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
The Casa Rita is amazing!! And only $7 during happy hour. The complimentary chips and salsa is great! I got enchiladas and my boyfriend got tacos and we couldn’t have been happier.
A friend of mine turned me onto this place over a year ago and every time I’m in the city it’s my go to spot! Food is amazing!
Amazing food and lovely atmosphere, highly recommend
Loved the service here and guacamole is made fresh at your table to your liking. Everyone was incredibly friendly, the food was delicious. Would recommend to a friend as a nice casual, modern venue.
I live downtown and Cantina Laredo is one of my go-to spots. Service is always great, and the recently reworked menu fixed a few shortcomings in offerings. The Perfect Patron margarita is worth the splurge, same goes for the tableside guacamole. I'm a big fan of their queso as well. If you're a larger person (like me) I'd recommend asking for a booth. The chairs in the dining area aren't very comfortable for larger folks and don't have much back support. But they have plenty of booths so it's not usually an issue.
It was my & I 1st time and we'll DEFINITELY be back! Great food.. Great service and the prices were great as well!
Great place. A great location just across the street from the Drake Hotel where we were staying. Service was excellent and the atmosphere fun and lively. We would definitely go back again. The steak sandwich is wonderful.
Cantina Laredo serves Mexican food, both the usual combination plates of tacos, enchiladas, burritos, as well as a variety of dishes prepared with Mexican spices and peppers. The restaurant itself is upscale with large windows and plenty of natural light--in my experience, many Mexican restaurants have fairly crowded seating and little natural light. We were a party of four and ordered a variety of items. All were very satisfied with the quality and quantity of our selections. Prices are average for the downtown Chicago casual-dining restaurants. Wait staff was friendly and managed our needs fine. We've been to Cantina Laredo at least a half-dozen times and never been disappointed.
A friend recommended CL and it happened to be right down the street from our hotel. We brought a friend there and he loved it as much as we did. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the very next day. Excellent food, very friendly and efficient service, great ambience and modern space. Oh! And what GREAT prices. Best carnitas EVER. Btw, I'm a chicago native who is very familiar with mexican food.
I ate the carne asada plate, medium cooked and it waa amazing. Best i ever had and the appetizers are to die for.
For downtown Chicago dining, excellent food, atmosphere and value. Especially value! All our dishes from chops and guacamole through all 6 entrees were exceptional. 10 minute walk to Goodman theater.
Went during lunch with a friend the asada y enchilada was so good! Great value for the price. The tamale was just ok, wouldn't get it again. Service was fast and good, good times all around.
Brunch shrimp and grits....fabulous! So different than classic shrimp and grits.
Disappointed. Most of the food was lukewarm. Some of the food was forgotten and needed to be asked to be brought out. Not likely to go back or recommend to others.
Excellent experience - really enjoyed the atmosphere and the waiter was wonderful. We had our young daughter with us and the waiter was very good with her.
Celebrating a friends Doctoral graduation.
Good ambiance and food selection. Great spot for a casual dinner, or after work happy hour.
Great chicken enchiladas mole which never disappoints. The Perfect Patron Rita is worth at least a drink or two.
Second visit. Just as good as the first. Will be back.
Great food, service and atmosphere! Will be back. Good location.
We arrived 30 minutes early and they sat us right away! Fast service and professional. Excellent food!
We found our new favorite restaurant!!! Had the holiday margaritas, tamales, spinach and chicken enchiladas, barbacoa tacos, street corn... it was all fantastic!! I’m craving more!!
Had a party of twelve and were quickly seated. Waiter was attentive. Definitely value priced...LOTS of food for your dollars. Favorite was guacamole made at the table and the queso. Have been here several times and have not been disappointed.
Great food and the energy in the room was fun! Service was good considering how busy the place is on a Friday night.
Cantina Laredo is a fun place to go.
On a visit to Chicago, my friends and I enjoyed a lovely evening at Cantina Laredo. Our waiter was very friendly and gave good food and drink recommendations. Sat by the fireplace on a bitterly cold night; felt wonderful!!
Really dislike when all food doesn't come out at the same time. I received my mail about 10 minutes before all of the other 5 people at my table. I was very uncomfortable about it, and I like me food especially hot, so by the time the rest of our party was served my food was only warm. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, and said they would go back.
The pork carnitas are great!
The only thing lacking was service. The servers were very nice but not attentive. Possibly they were short staffed that night. Other than that we really enjoyed the evening.
Everything was great until... i asked if my dish could be made without mushrooms because i am allergic. Victor said yes. Food looked great. When they brought food he clearly said mine had no mushrooms. I took a couple bites. Flavor was great. I commented about not see shrimp and My friend said they where inside pepper. When i opened it i found mushrooms as well. I immediately took my meds before i called anyone over. When manager Kody came he asked is this a serious allergy? I swear i couldnt believe it. Then he just stood there. Didnt remove the plate didn’t apologize nothing. He walked away and came back. He then offered a $50 credit. He spoke so low we couldn’t hear him. My friend asked him to repeat. He said i removed $50 from your bill and walked away. My friends were still eating they had ordered another guacamole and NOT ONE PERSON asked how i was or asked did we want another drink,if we needed to go containers. They walked right past us. I guess they assumed we just wanted our food free cuz we were a party of 5. This was not the case it was my friends bday and we were celebrating trying to enjoy. I just couldnt believe that all service was stopped after the mistake was made. In case u were wondering, i did have a break out because it was cooked with mushrooms, i caught it in time because i only took two bites. Your managers need to be re trained in allergy sensitivity. I honestly could not believe how we were outcasted after a mistake they made. Very disappointed. Will not return. My nightcap was hydrocortisone and benadryl and this ended my friends night early.
