About Cantina La Veinte
The decoration of the restaurant has been carefully selected from the most important craftsmen of Mexico. We enjoy its colors, within the geometry of Mexican Art Deco architecture; framing through its brilliant black and golden colors the splendor of its magic.
With the leading role, we have our monumental bars along with one of the larges tequila and mezcal selection in town and our bar manager created delicious and sophisticate cocktails.
Every cantina is a cultural expression of the place where it is found.
Gastronomy-wise, we have an extensive menu of Mexican Cuisine dishes, offering representative dishes of each state of the country, with traditional techniques and recipes (handmade tortilla, sauces made in a molcajete ), along with avant-garde techniques such as vacuum cooking, spherification, foam, etc. We constantly update our menu and the chef’s recommendations with new and top quality ingredients.

Cantina La Veinte Ratings and Reviews
The crispy snapper was great. The pulpo unremarkable.
The waiter was overextended. He forgot three different items throughout the meal and had to be asked a second time to bring them.
Also, beware the check! The waiter stood over us after he brought the bill so I rushed it ( my mistake). He did not inform us if the 18% gratuity already added as have other waiters. He then brought back the credit card slips without the itemized bill. I became suspicious so I asked if a tip had been included and he then told me it was. Frankly, 18% is less than I usually tip but more than I would have given him for his service.
Beautiful room and then the positive ends there, unfortunately. Food was underwhelming, but the service was horrible. Our server forgot about us again and again. We were done with our appetizers and sitting there, ready to order dinner, while he disappeared. That happened again and again. Ribeye was dry. Our plantains never arrived. An 18% service fee was automatically added to the bill.
They were passing out a shrimp soup as an apertif and did not disclose that it contained shrimp until I was about to drink it. The disclosure was made only because my husband asked what was in the soup. I am highly allergic to shellfish. I did not drink the soup, but nonetheless my food somehow was cross contaminated and I became very sick. We were forced to leave soon thereafter.
In the meantime, my husband ordered an expensive tomahawk steak to share with a friend. The steak was ordered medium rare but was delivered very very rare. They sent it back and asked that it be cooked just a few seconds longer. The steak was returned well done.
It was an expensive dinner. No one really enjoyed their meal and we were forced to end early because of my shellfish contamination. We were very disappointed with the experience.
This was the best Mexican restaurant we ever ate at and it was authentic Mexican. The waitress was amazing, she explained the menu and some of the items we were getting and it’s traditions, I.e. shrimp broth. The food was excellent, the guacamole was the best I have ever had. The food was fresh and the drinks were so good especially the margaritas. The band playing was so entertaining and such great voices.
What I like?
Waterfront restaurant, you must request your table in the first floor of the restaurant if you want water view.
Margaritas as very good, I tried their house frozen.
What I did not like?
EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE for a Mexican restaurant+ they include 18% gratuity in their tabs - just to give you an idea how expensive it is, a house frozen margarita is $20. My tab for 4 people was over $400 and all we ordered were appetizers and margaritas.
Restaurant is very loud so you may have a hard time hearing the suggestions of your waitress.
Their bar area upstairs looks very nice and upscale, if you are the fancy type you will like it.
The experience started well enough with a bottle of wine and the menu ordering. The amuse bouche soup was excellent. The first course of sopes de camarón y chicharrón was tasty and satisfactory. The guacamole and chips were very good. From there things went downhill because the two main courses were served well before we were finished with the first courses. The appetizer plates and silverware were not replaced with clean plates for the entrees, and we had to ask for the changeover. Both main courses were not even warm, including the rice. We told the server and she took them away for “repair” but when the entrees came back, the food temp was equally bad as the first time. The third time was better but still average. The “explosion” dessert was very disappointing lacking flavor and interest as a dessert. The topper was the automatic addition of an 18% tip for only 2 people at the table. The manager whom we asked to speak to gave a totally inadequate and ridiculous explanation, saying that the Mexican restaurant group had this policy because the employees receive a zero hourly wage. Hard to believe that’s the law in Florida. The entire experience at La Veinte was odd for a supposedly upscale Mexican restaurant in the heart of
the financial district of Miami. We will NOT go back and we will not recommend it to anybody. Too bad. We wanted to really like the place.
I went because Open Table promotes it with bonus points. The restaurant was lovely, food was excellent and beautifully presented, and service was very nice.
Unfortunately OT doesn’t tell you they only give bonus points for 2 or more persons (big shame on OT - they decide that, not the restaurant) but the restaurant was wonderful.
Great service, which is a pleasant surprise in Miami. Food was delicious and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Had a Vuelve a la Vida and bone marrow tacos. Also the tostadas de atún as appetizer. Great tequilas selection. We had a table outside with an exceptional view. Definitely the best spot in the place.
Sadly this the second tine they have me waiting for a table even with a reservation in place. The two junior hostess do not seem to be worried trying to fix the situation. Had to ask to call with a manager to get things sorted out...
Terrible experiencia.
Outstanding service, beautiful ambiance, very nice wine selection, wide range of food choices. We started with ceviche, ordering Vuelva La Vida, and then I had the grilled octopus, while my husband had the snapper filet with cilantro sauce, as well as the grilled vegetables. Fabulous and highly recommended guava flan dessert topped off the meal.
I brought my sister here for her birthday, and the restaurant did not disappoint. The decor was romantic, artistic and high end; the live Mariachi was amazing—they even serenaded my sister and girlfriend. Most importantly the food was delicious, and the service was impressive and came quickly. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for a great night out on the town.
One of the worst breakfasts I have had in Miami (and I think I have sampled a lot of them). The food was terrible, bordering on inedible. Service was also awful and we had to wait 30 mins to be served after being seated, despite us collaring several people.
