Cantina Feliz Ratings and Reviews
My family had a delicious meal here on Saturday night!!! The guac & chips are so delicious..the chips are warm..yum! The Mushroom huarache is honestly one of the best things on the menu. We get it everytime we come. The complexity of the flavors in each bite just make it absolutely exquisite. For entrees we love the El Carbon tacos w chicken. The grilled chicken is like none other. It always soft and has the most delicious flavor as it practically melts in your mouth. I always add grilled chicken to the chop salad for my entree. My husband did the pork tacos he said they were outstanding.
I have never eaten anything here that I didn't like. It really is one of the best restaurants in the suburbs!!
I dined here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night and it was pretty good. We had the crab guacamole to start -- delicious. It was my favorite out of everything we ordered. I ordered the 3 chili margarita which was good but with a tad too much sugar. Next time I go I'll probably just order a classic marg. My boyfriend had the mixed enchiladas and said they were all very tasty, especially the seafood. I had blackened salmon tacos which were decent but I'd only recommend them to someone who enjoys very robust flavor and lots of seasoning. Our server was nice, wait time wasn't bad at all, especially for a bust Saturday night. It is super loud so don't come here if you are trying to have a quiet conversation. Overall it was a great night out.
We were really excited to go out with friends and order the suckling pig. We had been curious about getting it and had heard good things. It was an experience to have it carved table side, but it was just ok. I've had other things that were great but the suckling pig was underwhelming for the price. The best part of the meal were the plantains. We will come back, by save yourself the disappointment of the suckling pig.
We've been meaning to eat here for quite some time and finally made it. Outstanding. It's quite easily the best Mexican restaurant the area. The guacamole with figs, candied pecans and blue cheese was fresh and delicious. The ceviche verde was amazing in both taste and presentation. The pulpo was butter soft and flavorful. The halibut special was perfectly cooked and almost too beautiful to eat. This is a must try for any liver of upscale Mexican cuisine. We'll be back soon. A special thanks to our server, Shane. He's great!
My friend loved the place. We both enjoy Mexican food and even though this place is out of the way for both of us, it was a good choice - great atmosphere, food & service. Never get to try the impressive tequila choices, though, because I always have to drive!
Absolutely love this place. Food is top notch, their guac is probably some of the best I've ever had (so many varieties too - I recommend the kind with tuna, soy sauce, and sesame seeds). Menu is somewhat tapas style (no sides, you get what you get, small plates), but portions are still hearty and you will not be disappointed! There are entrees but I haven't tried any yet. Beyond excellent margaritas, too. Wonderful service. Great place for a nice dinner!
Only downsides are the prices & noise level. It wasn't that crowded, but still super loud. Also, the smaller tables are very close to each other so you can hear everyone else's conversations rather clearly. Little on the spendy side once you start adding in side dishes, guac, etc. but it's definitely worth it.
Catina Feliz continues to be a great choice when looking to indulge in some Mexican cuisine with a modern American flair. The price point for entrees can be a bit steep but the flavor combinations are unique, the preparation skillful, and presentation beautiful. The best part of this place is you can just as easily come in for a beer and taco special; costing you under $20 or get the private room, have a whole roasted pig, and flowing margaritas at $50+ for special occasions. Either way, you will enjoy the vibe.
Must have: the plantains
Go-to drinks: Feliz margaritas; La Paloma (pairing of tequila & grapefruit soda); ever-rotating tap list
Need to know: parking is a bit tight. Get there early.
Terribly disappointed. Our service was pathetic as our waitress didn't introduce herself. Didn't tell us about any specials. Rushed us to order drinks. Rushed us to order food. Never showed up to provide refills. Refused to tell us about deserts - literally threw menus on the table. And then had the audacity to give herself a 20% tip because we were a party of 6. Which I refused to pay.
The food was good. But the service killed the whole experience.
Great dinner & drinks! We tried a tequila flight so that was fun! He mushroom hurache is a must...we order it every time we go!!!! The chop salad is fantastic and I always add grilled chicken to it to make it a meal. I dot know what they do to their chicken but it is soooo amazing every time I get it. It's soft and moist. My husband had the chicken el carbon tacos. He doesn't love what it comes with so he just asks for lettuc & tomato and cheese. They are very very accommodating.
We love Cantina and we will be back soon!!
Cantina Feliz is always a great meal and night out! The food and drink are exceptional and the service is always top-notch. One of the owners even stopped by our table during our recent visit to make sure that we were enjoying everything. I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant to anyone who enjoys great food and a fun evening out!
