Was one of my favorite places , now just another mediocre restaurant
My family has been in love with Cantina Feliz since it first opened! The food & drinks have always been delicious and consistent. Recently however the menu has changed a bit and they don’t have the same upscale-type Mexican dishes that they used to feature. The menu seems smaller with fewer yummy choices. I know the covid pandemic has wreaked havoc on the restaurant industry and am SO happy that Cantina Feliz was able to survive, but the changes make me not as excited to go there. The newer menu choices like “burritos & bowls” are something more suited to Chipotle. (fried tortilla bowls? Not expected) The plate presentation is not as first class as it once was (for example, we always order the steak al carbon with rice instead of beans, and usually the rice/beans come one the side in a small bowl. This time it was piled on the plate but wasn’t “pretty”, it looked thrown on in an afterthought.). One of our steaks was underdone and they cooked it more AND took it off the bill, which was completely unexpected! That was above and beyond. I hope they are able to dig out of this rut and return to the amazing food they’ve always had!!
Their quality has definitely slipped. What was once a place for great margaritas and guacamole/chips left us greatly disappointed. Bitter margaritas, and the guacamole and salsa just didn’t stand out. Service was off too.
Hopefully they will at some point return to the great Mexican restaurant they were before 2020.
We really enjoyed our meal...and the Tequila combos ! Crab appetizer great.
Loved the Burrito with Chicken Queso , and trimmings .
Creative margaritas complement well-prepared enchiladas and tacos that my family all agreed were delicious and freshly made. We split 3 desserts which also showed off the skill of the kitchen to come up with such interesting caramel, popcorn, and chocolate treats.
Fod was very good. Did not have everything on menu that wanted. Waiter was great service was not
Loud with average food. Probably good for parties.
It was solid. We do plan on going back!
Great service and great food!
Very good food and fun , festive vibe. It is pretty dark in some of the dining rooms. Would love for them to add more light and outdoor dining options
The food is always so good here! I never remember to save room for dessert, but 2 bowls of guac is worth it.
First visit. Food was excellent. Service was fantastic. I didn’t love my marg and I m generally not picky. It was good. But not up to the standard of the rest of the visit. Can’t wait to go back.
Our family had a fun Friday dinner at CF. My husband & I had dined here a couple of months ago & were disappointed, but it has much improved. Great margaritas, service & food, although we find the menu a little limited. We will return for drinks & tacos again
Super clean and felt safe!
Great service and great meal.
We have never been more disappointed!
This is the restaurant we have always come to celebrate every special occasion!!
We have been a very loyal customer since cantina felez first opened years ago!
I’m not sure what’s going on???
Over the years the Margarita has been outstanding! One of the main reason we come here !!!!
The house Margarita we had yesterday taste like limeade & I doubt there was any tequila in our drinks. My husband paid more to have an upgraded Margarita & that wasn’t good either.
We Alway get the guacamole because it’s so delicious & fresh ... Not yesterday.. the lime was so over powering, the waitress took it back to the kitchen & even the cook / chief said it has too much lime !
Sad to see that had removed some of our favorites things from the menu, like the shrimp appetizer & the black bass..
So we ordered the shrimp tacos.
Yet Another Disappointment !
They arrived at our table wet & soggy !
UGH !! I’m Not Sure what’s going on, with this business, but it is going down hill FAST !!
This is far from what we have ever experienced when coming to this restaurant for many years.
Sadly ... we will not be returning!!!!
My husband and I ordered the guacamole sampler, shrimp tacos and chicken al carbon tacos, plus house margs and tequila on the rocks. Everything was delicious and the service was as usual friendly and on pointe. We love Cantina Feliz!
Everything was amazing!! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
Nothing special! It’s ok, the food was ok, margaritas were ok a pitcher was a little on the weak side.
We went for an early dinner and enjoyed being one of two couples in the room. By the time we left it was getting quite busy. My husband and I both had different tacos and swapped. We thought it would be ideal if they offered a taco sampler. Had not been here before and could see going back with friends.
Table service was slow. Had to call multiple times to get a waitress to refill drinks and provide the bill. Overall time for meal was 2 hrs 45 min.
A good and dependable place to eat, though it seems like their menu has shifted over time to the dependably Tex-Mex stuff and become a bit less adventurous. But maybe that is just the result of a shortening of the menu dues to the pandemic. On the downside the burrito had too much rice to our liking, but on the plus-side, the tortilla soup is really outstanding.
I completely forgot that sides such as refried beans and rice are not provided with your dinner at Cantina Feliz. They are additional menu items for order. This is a pretty big turnoff since most Mexican restaurants in the area provide you with these as no charge.
Celebrating our 20th anniversary. Long-time Cantina Feliz customers. The food is usually fabulous but not today. No more tequila flights. The suckling pig special was dry and unimpressive. The carnita taco meat was so dry it was crunchy. And the street corn I waited all day for was... just corn. We waited an hour for our food. Everything was comped by the manager. I’m just so disappointed.
Always consistently good food and excellent drinks!
Beautiful restaurant with delicious Mexican food. We will definitely return.
Service was outstanding. Food was delicious ❤️
Perfect every week!
Ordered the three spice margarita. It was amazing. Ordered a refill and was given a regular margarita instead, which was disappointing.
We have been here a few times and have always loved it. This most recent visit was just meh. The food was great but the margaritas were watery and unimpressive. The service was ridiculously slow. It was so slow we decided to skip dessert and just get the check because it would take too long. I was very disappointed with this visit.
Very good food and service. Wait staff knowledgeable and friendly.
I feel compelled to write a review. I have been to Calaca Feliz in Fairmount several times as I used to live in the neighborhood, growing up in Fort Washington I was excited to try their sister restaurant, Cantina Feliz. I was severely disappointed.
We started the evening with a pitcher of margaritas. I love a good margarita. We ordered a pitcher of "skinny" margs and it did not live up to my expectations. It tasted like an overly sweet limeade. Our server was good enough to check-in and replace the pitcher with another batch... which was semi better but tequila still seemed to the ingredient. I love tequila, I love casa amigos, and I want to taste what I am drinking. The consensus from the table... horrible. I had a few sips and left my drink on the table.
Now to the food. My mom and sister ordered Mahi Mahi bowls and I ordered a carnitas bowl. We did also get an order of nachos. While the nachos were good the main course lacked flavor and freshness. The Mahi Mahi was too fishy. There also was a mistake in what was delivered to the table. I only got my meal after the food runner delivered the wrong order. As my sister and mom finished their meals, my meal was delivered 15 minutes later. My bowl had a tablespoon of meat and a heaping amount of beans... At this point, I had lost my appetite.
While the head of house did make a point to check in... and the server did correct some of the mishaps ... I would not return or recommend this restaurant. This is unfortunate as I had so much been looking forward to trying this local spot out. I hope Cantina Feliz takes note of these errors and corrects them for future patrons.
Cantina Feliz is a world class Mexican restaurant. Thank goodness I live close by!
we have been here before and like the casual atmosphere along with the good food and usually excellent servers. The carnitas tacos - 3 of them is a big portion, the chicken enchiladas and the chips and salsa with hot sauces on the side are some of our favorite items ....but the burrito bowls, the fish tacos are also good. we recommend if you like mexican slightly upscale.
Great dinner with friends. Food fantastic with the Guacamole sampler being incredible. Drinks awesome and really good server Joey. The recommendations were spot on.
The food here is consistently good, although the menu does not seem to change that often. The dining rooms are attractive and consistent with the fun Mexican vibe they are going for.
Food was excellent and the service was great.
Our server Rachel was awesome and so was the food !
Great, authentic food. We frequently go to Cantina and enjoy every time. Creative chefs with tasty specials!
Service is always great and the food is exceptional for its authenticity and its execution!
