Cantina 1511- Mooresville
Four adults on a Friday night around 7:30. Seated immediately thanks to Open Table reservation. Our waiter, while polite, was not familiar with either the drink or food menu. Our margaritas (pricey!) were the worst ever. Food (reasonable but pricier than similarly-themed restaurants) was so-so. Guacamole made at our table was fresh and tasty. Chimichanga and shrimp skewers with plaintains were pretty good. Chicken and beef tacos were nothing more than "okay" and quite small. Baja fish taco was skimpy, no more than 1 oz of fish. Pork boracoa taco was tasty but also skimpy for the $$$. Environment is clean and very bright, family oriented (lots of kids), and several TV screens on the walls, adding to the noise. Doubt we would go back again.
Overall experience is good. Margarita’s are overpriced.
The service was good - our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food came quickly. Chips and salsa were good - usually a good indicator for a Mexican restaurant. But the food just wasn’t very good - my burrito bowl was bland and tasteless; my husband ordered shrimp fajitas and hardly ate any. And definitely expensive for Mexican food - especially not very good Mexican food.
Second visit. Server asked how food was but had a foot walking away at the same time. Did not offer a second glass of wine. We felt rushed and only tolerated as guests. My quesadillas were supposed to be crab and avocado. I never tasted any crab. I don’t recall bacon mentioned in the description. I would much prefer to be charged a necessary price than to be charged $3 for extra guacamole and sour cream. Radio personality John Hancock raves about Cantina1511. Must be the difference in locations. Somewhere you appear to be cutting corners. First visit was great. Not returning.
Great service but just a little off. The food was good but no salt and pepper on table. Drinks were way too sweet but southerners love their sugar. Compared to the original east blvd location it now seems to be more like a fusion of Cali-Mex meets the sugary South. If that, vs true Cali or even Texmex, speaks to you then you will love it. If you’re looking for heat and tart lime, it might not work for you anymore. Did love the boundary crossing tacos the best. Some will love, some will be disappointed. Know what you’re going for.
Great neighborhood find. The food was very good.
Visited as a party if three, sat on beautiful patio. Both drink and food menus were impressive. Fresh shrimp, delicious plantains and black beans were outstanding. We tried several dishes all were incredible. I've visited twice before and left review on Yelp with pics so I am already a fan, but this visit there was a miscommunication about certain dishes and their ingredients. When the manager learned of she stopped by and spoke with us. She listened to the mix up, apologized, spoke highly of her staff and comped our entire bill, drinks, apps, and all food. We were not expecting nor wouldve assumed any discount. I can and have raved about food but now I can rave about their customer service. What a compassionate managing style she has and I look forward to our next visit! We will continue to reccomend your place. You have surpassed all hospitality expectations this visit. Thank you.
Excellent food and the portions are generous. I will go back.
Had a Saturday reservation got there a little early seated right away only problem was after 20 minutes of being ignored by serving staff we got up and left.
Food was excellent service was a little slow it seemed they had our server spread too thin. She was doing her best to keep up but drinks went dry a couple of times and asked for things a couple times to get them. Again, good server just over taxed
Food and service were great!
We had eaten at 15:11 two or three times and had generally a very good experience. Our most recent experience did not live up to that precedent. The service was very uneven. The food quality didn't seem as spot on as our earlier visits. In particular the table side guacamole was just terrible. The server used one entire line with some avocado and a bit of tomato and literally zero seasoning. It tasted nothing but lime. We were able to pour some of their delicious salsa in it to create some flavor, but overall the guacamole experience was awful.
We’re 0 for 2 (4 total orders) finding something we like and probably won’t try a third time.
Good service from an attentive server so no issue there. Excellent salsa and chips. Main course was blah at best ... no spice, no flavor, light on accompaniments. Had to drown in salsa to spice it up. Won't be in a hurry to go back.
Jasmine was outstanding !! Best service we have ever had.
A different spin on ordinary tex mex. Great presentation but even better taste. All four of us enjoyed our meals.
We’ve tried this restaurant twice now. The chips and salsa are good, fresh and nice flavor. The table side guacamole was extremely disappointing. Very little flavor. Margaritas were good but pricey. The meals left much to be desired both times. My daughter’s beef taco off the kids menu was so greasy that it was gross. The other items we tried we ok, but nothing special at all. Chicken in the tacos was pretty dry. The rice was a little undercooked. I just can’t see what all the fuss is about. This place is average at best. I had such high hopes as I LOVE Mexican food, but I don’t have any desire to hurry back.
Didn’t like Margarita because it tasted like orange juice. Would like to see a real margarita added to menu.
Chicken enchiladas were very bland. Barbacoa was bland also but was tasty.
Good food, took a while to get our drinks. Waitress was awesome!
Terrible food worst dinner that I have ever had and never again will I go there
The servers were very attentive and friendly. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious.
Appetizers were the best part of the meal. Was not impressed with entrees. Had to request that drinks be refilled.
Service initially was a bit slow to order drinks but from there on the waitress who took care of us was very good, particularly because my partner has a gluten allergy and the waitress would warn us about the food before hand which was great. However the food lacked flavor for what it was. The rice and beans needed more salt or seasoning and the queso on top of my burrito was not very flavorful. Food wise I would not recommend this restaurant over what is currently offered in this area unfortunately. However I understand the early stages of the restaurant usually isn't as smooth but it does leave an impression. I won't post online about my experience and will likely return to try again in a month or two before deciding to continue with it.
Service okay. Server forgot a few things. Food was not as tasty as we thought it would be. Drive 40 minutes to get there. Food and value not worth the drive. No wow factor.
Excellent service, great food.
Everything was great!
Food was great, would definitely go again (and get the tableside guacamole!)
Excellent food but the server was noticeably rushing us and hurrying us with the check. I understand it was a Friday night but we still want to be able to enjoy our meal without feeling like we need to inhale everything.
Really delicious food and beverages. The signature cocktails were on special for $6.50, we had a Devils Garden and Paloma, both delicious. The food was fresh and overall excellent. The rice was undercooked, but everything else was great. We had the enchiladas and (3) tacos - duck taco, 1511 Barbacco and Korean BBQ Steak. The menu was a little pricey, but we would definitely return for the taste and quality of the food.
Great location and food was very good! Serving staff was very attentive and efficient.
Great food and good location with easy parking. Great menu with many taco options. Guacamole made at table side is always a treat.
The service was good but the food was average.
Food was really good. Service took a while; the four of us ate almost an entire basket of chips and salsa before our bar order finally arrived. But, it is a fairly new establishment; it may be that they are just breaking everyone in. We will be trying again.
We were there on July 4th when it was slammed but we couldn’t tell how busy they were because our waiter was awesome. Also I have Celiac (gluten intolerance) and the waiter was very knowledgeable and steered me to the dishes that wouldn’t make me sick. They are not listed on the Find Me Gluten Free APP in Mooresville, only Charlotte where there was lots of talk about chips not made in a dedicated fryer but they didn’t bother me.
The food was way too pricey for the quality. Most food was not great, sorry to say. The service was mediocre.
The food was delicious and there was a good selection of entrees to choose from on the menu. I am on a plant based diet and the waitress helped me pick out food choices based on my needs. The children enjoyed their food choices also. We will definitely come back!
Great new option in Mooresville. The food was great.
Maddie did an excellent job as our waitress. Specialty margs were fantastic but a little pricy. Food was delicious. Really appreciated the complementary dessert for the table for our first visit. We will be back!
Love everything about Cantina 1511! Food is delicious, service is great and drinks are refreshing! Just what Mooresville needed!
