Cantala at Riviera Palm Springs Ratings and Reviews
I sat in the A/C-regulated covered patio for my dinner; a great people-watching opportunity. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. No need to ask for water refills or more bread, they were on the ball. The food was good. I had the cream of cauliflower soup -- it tasted good, but needed more salt (not a big deal as it's better to undersalt than oversalt). The ahi and crab appetizer is definitely an item to share. The ahi is Mexican inspired, not Asian as seen at many restaurants. The half-portion of butterfish piccata was disappointing. The piccata sauce was fine, but the fish didn't need to be fried. Half-portions are a genius idea. I will return to the restaurant to try different dishes because the overall experience was great!
I came into this restaurant having high expectations and am glad to say that all of them were met. The Lobster and Ginger dumplings were amazing as well as the Tuna Tar-tare(black truffle oil was a nice touch). I had the Spring Lamb with this INCREDIBLE raspberry/mint sauce and my fiance had the Roquefort beef medallion which she said was superb. The entire meal was beautifully laid out before us by a stunning waiter named Steven and our bread and waters constantly refreshed by a very nice man named Santos. Kudos to this dynamic duo. Thank you for making my engagement night a HUGE success. P.S. If you happen to be in the area but have already had dinner... Please stop in for one of the BEST desserts ever...Sticky Toffee Pudding.
The food at the restaurant was delicious. Since this was pretty much the only sit-down full menu restaurant at the hotel, I was able to experience breakfast, brunch and dinner. All meals were great, most notably the Egg White Frittata at breakfast and the Beef Tenderloin with Gorgonzola for dinner and definitely the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. The ambiance and overall decor mixed in with our private banquette seating (requested on Open Table previously) made the meal and night very special. My only gripe is that the restaurant seems to be severely under-staffed. Our dessert arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered it and I also heard numerous people complaining and requesting managers due to heir food taking too long.
This restaurant is located in the Riveria Resort and Spa. It has open-air seating, as well as indoor. The restaurant is lovely and the pool view is gorgeous at night. The food was quality food and portions were generous. My entree (grilled halibut) could have been a little more grilled, instead of just warm, but it was tasty. The sides were very good and well prepared. The service was attentive and caring. The server even noticed that our salads were served before the appetizer, and promptly spoke to the staff. We would eat there again if we visit the resort another time.
Unbelievably bad. One of the worst restaurants I've ever had the misfortune of eating at. I ordered a crab cake, which I'm pretty sure was a chicken burger. In no way was it crab. One of my friends ordered lamb and was served beef. Our waiter was terrible (the service was somewhat redeemed by the manager who replaced our waiter when we complained). I will never return.
All in all the place was great. We are locals and like to visit the Riviera. We sat outside and it was beautiful with a view of the pool and guest hanging around the pool at 7:00 at night. There were multiple fire-pits and it added to the ambiance. The food was great, we both had the caesar salad and the blue cheese crusted filet with potatoes and veggies. Some reason OPEN TABLE didn't give any credits for dining there so I'm not sure I would use O.T. for this place.
Turned out to be a great find for Mother's Day brunch. Staff was very professional and courteous. We lucked out and seemed to have the best table on the patio. Food was excellent and not your usual run-of-the-mill banquet food. Everything was freshly made and delicious.
Circa 59 is the most innovative restaurant in the entire Cochella Valley, Their food
rivals any upscale restaurant withing a 50 mile radius. They not only offer half
portions on some entrees but they also offer a half glass of your favorite wine! Know
anyone else who does that. I am in the restaurant business and find they pay more
attention to details than most places do.
Dined with you again on Sunday May 2nd. Sat outside and the music was a little too
loud. Asked the waiting if they could turn town the speakers and he immediately did.
By the way the music was GREAT.
I had requested several months ago that you bring back the half portion entrees and you
did. Your food is better than ever. I have been absent from Cira 59 for about a year
but I will be regular again for sure.
I took my wife and daughter to Circa 59 for dinner. We had a wonderful time. The hotel and restaurant is very well designed. We sat outside overlooking the pool area. We were accommodated by Christopher. He was outstanding and made excellent recommendation of both wine and food. We had the Bacon Wrapped Dates, Ahi Tartar and the Spring Lamb. I believe that the waiter makes the dinning experience. And Christopher definitely exceeded my expectations. My family will be back.
What a scene! Had brunch here on a Saturday with my cousin and his girlfriend from Los Angeles. Felt like we were watching a scene from "party at the Palms in Las Vegas". Quite the pool activity going on, lots of mingling and great people/body watching! Food and decor and service was great, it is terrific to be able to eat outdoors under an umbrella by the pool and watch the fantastic bodies parade by!
Unfortunately not a good experience, the staff was unatentive, seated us near the kitchen although there were other open tables with view to the pool that were left empty. The food was mixed, two orders arrived cold and were returned, so we definitely will not go back.
We went out for a "date night" there and could not have been more impressed. The whole experience was awesome. The decor is very modern. We sat outside next to a fire pit. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wine list, we even let him choose our bottle of wine. We can't wait for our next trip to the Palm Springs area so we can visit the restaurant again.
An excellent dining experience in old Palm Springs. Beautiful outdoor setting at night. Serving staff attentive and experienced. Pool area nicely lit in the evening. Firepits add a touch of warmth and elegance. Menu was interesting. Food was well presented.
Our server Christopher was a delight. An asset to the restaurant for sure.
A superb, memorable outing. Highly recommended.
WE went to Circa 59 while staying in Palm Springs. THis is a great, upscale restaurant if you do not want to drive to Rancho Mirage or Indian Wells. The service was just OK. We waited about 5 min before the waiter took our drink order. Our food was slow to arrive and was told it was due to a large party in the other room. The brussel sprout salad, Tuna Tartare, and crab cake was great. The butterfish was way too salty and overcooked. Great ambiance. Reminds me of the Delano in Miami or the Hudson in NYC.
