Cañonita Ratings and Reviews
We came for breakfast and were seated next to the Grand Canal which was lovely. We ordered the apple/guava empanadas for an appetizer, as well as our main breakfast entrees, thinking the empanadas would be served prior. Unfortunately, no. They brought the empanadas after our entrees, so it kind of defeated the purpose of enjoying a pastry first. My husbands coffee was just yuck...he tried to drink it, but just couldn't get it down. He's not a coffee snob by any means, but said their coffee was just plain awful. My chorizo/egg tacos were just ok, but a little odd, and the waitress seemed puzzled when I asked her for some salsa for them. My husbands huevos rancheros were good and he enjoyed them. We were disappointed, as having lived in Mexico for 6 years we were looking forward to some authentic Mexican recipes, as claimed in the restaurant description. Definitely not similar to anything we have ever had in Mexico. Would not go back unfortunately, nor would we recommend others to try it. Our server was nice, as were the other staff we encountered.
We go out for special occasions often. We made reservations to eat here before we went to go see the band Chicago. Our server Brian was excellent. The prices and the amount of food you get is ridiculous. You get charged $5 dollars for chips and salsa $9 dollars for chips and guacamole. All the appetizers were expensive . We didn’t end up ordering an entrée due to the fact that we were really not that hungry. We did order the guacamole and an appetizer of a seafood toastada which was very smal, 1 bite-size chip for $15 , And 2 Tito martinis . So two appetizers and two martinis came to $55 we left $65 and didn’t really eat anything. So I would not recommend this to a friend there’s plenty of Mexican restaurants that have outstanding service, food for a reasonable price. We are not cheap by any means but we do like quantity.
Celebrated my husbands birthday with a nice brunch glad we came here the scenery was beautiful you had the shops near you and the cute romantic boats passing frequently. Of course since it was indoors there was a little echo so it can get pretty loud with all the ppl walking and shopping but overall great the food really tasted like authentic Mexican food and the service was great!
We had made reservations ahead of time and the request of a table by the canal was granted. Our server was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the food and wine. We had a great time and will definitely recommend to others. Next time in Las Vegas we will have to revisit.
Came here for breakfast. The garden egg white omelette was delicious and went well with a spicy Bloody Mary. All was tasty and presented well. My daughter had eggs and bacon from the children’s menu. The scrambled eggs melted in her mouth. Both of our breakfast potatoes were not hot, but luckily we are not big fans of home fries. Churros were supper yummy, too!
I love the Canonita! For years, I've eaten there every time I'm in Vegas! It's a perfect location on the canal. The food is creative and delicious. This time we had the braised beef tacos, the mole chicken, and the Cazuela De Mariscos (like a bouillabaisse). My husband was ecstatic about the bouillabaisse! Portions are moderate size, but are so tasty they are a good value for the price. And the guacamole was just spicy enough with warm and salty chips. Our waiter promptly took our order, made recommendations, and refilled drinks before we asked. He put our order through right away since we told him we had gondola ride tickets in 60 minutes. We had a fantastic meal. We wish we had the time to linger. If in Vegas go get your Mexican food fix at the Canonita!
Cenamos la Noche de New years eve. Nos parecio un lugar muy agradable y romantico para estar. La comida estuvo de 10, todo exquisito y muy bien sugerido por nuestro camarero. Creo recordar que se llamaba Marcus. Nos recomendo muy buenos platos y terminamos felices. Muchas gracias.
Small portion of food really overpriced. Margaritas were good but when we ordered them it was at the same moment the waiter gave us the menus, therefore we couldn't possibly know there were sooo many options. However, the waiter never asked us for clarification or specified "which one". At the end of the meal, we have drunk our traditional margaritas (of course!) and we were charged the most expensive ones... When we complained, the waiter said as we didn't specify, he brought us those ones... Wtf?! In addition, when we ordered our food, we asked for the "chips and guacamole", and he brought us an additional sauce that he later also charged us for. Terrible service.
This was our first night at the Venetian and our first reservation for dinner. We were really looking forward to the experience as we both love Mexican food. We came a little early but were seated quickly. We were happy and excited and looked forward to a wonderful evening. We each wanted a margarita and were pleased that they had so many to choose from. We both ordered a different one and they were really quite good...my date even had two and she loved them... as I did. To start, our waiter was great and very informative so we felt right at home. Then, for what ever reason (I do not recall anything out of the ordinary) somehow our waiter did not return to take our order and we also had to wait to get some ice water which we requested. I would not make an issue of this normally however we felt forgotten. I finally got his attention and he was quick to take out order. Maybe he was giving us some time. We received our food and were very happy that it was so tasty and exactly what we wanted! My friend ordered another margarita like her first one and I selected a desert which our waiter allowed to to share. We made small talk with the waiter and he told us we should come in and enjoy their breakfast, too!
All in all, it was a very good experience and the food and drink were both excellent! We will definitely go back.
