Canonita fuses heritage with innovation by staying true to a menu of soulful, scratch-made Mexican recipes from sun-up to late-night. From flavor-packed street tacos cozied in house-made tortillas to spicy sauces and housemade guacamole carefully crafted from authentic recipes, every meal is a feast for the eyes and adventure for the taste buds.

As the only restaurant located along the canal-front in The Venetian® and The Palazzo®, Canonita offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the Grand Canal with waterfront views of the resort’s famous singing gondoliers.

Outside of the restaurant, the Street Taqueria food truck recreates an essential element of Mexico City’s culinary and cultural landscape. The walk-up experience features a variety of street foods and house-infused margaritas perfect for grabbing a quick bite while walking the Grand Canal Shoppes.

The food was good, but pretty expensive for what we got. It was filling and the portions were good, but we just weren’t blown away.

We had signed up for a gondola ride, and needed a place to eat beforehand. This was a great option because the gondolas went right along there, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful singing. I love the “outdoor-indoor” feel of the patio. Sitting underneath the “blue skies” is amazing. For appetizers we had the flautas and ahi tostada. I enjoyed the flautas more, but both were delicious. My entree was the barbacoa, which was a large serving. My fiancé had the mahi mahi, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We definitely will be stopping there again on our next visit to Vegas.

Great setting and service. Very good food! Chicken Enchiladas and Steak fajitas are very good. Great place to sit and watch the gondolas go by. Jonathan was our waiter and was very attentive to all of our needs.

We visit this restaurant every year when we come to Vegas. It is comfortable, casual and overall good dining option. The food seemed a little blander than in past years. Presentation was nice but different. I had the pork in banana leaves, which I have every year. There was a huge piece of pork on top of a banana leaf. In years past, the pork was actually rolled inside banana leaves. The rice and beans were somewhat bland but large portions. My husband selected 3 tacos and said they were very good. The tacos came with the same beans and rice, so we pretty much ate less than one portion of the rice and beans. Perhaps refried beans would be more flavorful.

Great food and excellent service!!! Our drinks and water glasses were never empty. Our waiter, Jonathan, took really good care of us. My grandson ordered a cheese only enchilada, which is not on the menu, and when it came, it had chicken in it. Jonathan checked on us and whisked the plate away when we told him. He soon brought us a cheese only enchilada and my grandson ate the whole thing!!! Jonathan then gave us a complimentary dessert for us to share!!! Thank you Jonathan and Canonita for a wonderful evening!!!

The food was very good, but too spicy for my liking. If the menu had rated the spice level of the menu items, I could’ve made a more educated choice.
The waitress never brought us water and never checked on us. Had she checked on us, she would’ve seen how miserable I was and that I had hoped to order a different menu item.
We asked for the check. 20 minutes later, she offered dessert but no check. Her ability to wait tables was not her strength which is not good in a service-based town.

Cañonita is a descent Mexican food. A little pricy probably due to its location, near the canal, in Venetian. We dined during the happy hour and the drinks were reasonably priced. Our server was very attentive.

Reserved a table for 7 people for my best friends bachelorette party. The bride loved the food and being able to watch the gondola rides. The food was great and the service was the best we’d received so far in Las Vegas. Definitely will be returning next time I’m in town!

It was honestly one of the worst meals out that we've had in a long time. We ordered two different entrees, both were terrible (dry bland chicken, fishy shrimp, etc.) The margaritas were very sour. We love almost any margarita and neither of us could finish our drink. Last the waiter was sub-par. He took our order, someone else delivered our food and the only other time we saw our waiter was to bring us the bill. He never checked on us, offered help of any kind. It was so so disappointing. Definitely do not recommend this restaurant, the setting is cute but not worth it. :(

This was a remarkably bland meal. For these prices, which compare to other nice Mexican choices on the strip (such as Javier’s) are outrageous for food that packs no punch. The claims to “Mexico City soul food” make Cañonita either an ambassador to a poor culinary tradition (which I doubt), or they miss the mark entirely. There’s no way Mexico City eats food with as much character as water. This was a very disappointing meal.

This was our first visit to Canonitas in the Palazzo/Venetian Canal shops, and enjoyed the meal and service very much. Open Table reservations worked great, and they accommodated the request for the desired table by the canal, and recognized our Anniversary celebration. Front desk was very friendly and sat us promptly, followed quickly by our server greeting us. There is a variety of choices for food, but don’t expect the typically Mexican food, as there seems to be a originality to many of the dishes. Started with Chips, Salsa, and Guacamole (this is menu item, not complimentary) with the Salsa having a slight smokiness which as very enjoyable. Followed by a chicken tortillas soup, and entrees of Santa Rosa Barbacoa and Wilde Mushroom enchiladas. Both entrees were delicious, and well seasoned. Dessert followed with a traditional churros (Hot out of the fryer) and a non-traditional brownie and ice cream. The churros dipping sauce was very tasty, not your typically chocolate sauce. Overall, our server Juan and the management made our first visit memorable and very enjoyable, and we would plan to return again. FYI – sitting on the patio next to the canal is very enjoyable, and maintains a good noise level that normal conversation can still be held.
