"With a clear vision, a striking aesthetic and distinctive, mouthwatering flavors, Canon restaurant in East Sacramento is a stellar and welcome addition to the city’s dining scene." - 4-Stars, Sacramento Bee
"Find the convivial Canon sequestered away from the downtown bustle. This cool space that contrasts deep tones against bright whites is enveloped by the aromatic smell of smoke, so it’s no surprise that the house is packed most nights. Chef Brad Cecchi is the culinary mastermind and his menu is pivoted around playful small plates." - Michelin Guide

We had truly exquisite food served with attentive care.
delicious and fabulous gourmet food and dessert ..........Latte was great but cold
Was great experience
Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Wonderful food but a very expensive bottle of champagne for this birthday dinner arrived at the table without a proper chill. And even then, it arrived at the table after all other drinks had been distributed and after the initial food items. We had a great time but all thought that part of the evening came up short.
I am so glad to have found Canon! I was there with my young adult children and we all had nothing but raves. Interesting menu/format, truly delicious food, welcomimg and atentive service. I cannot wait to go back!
Service was quick and friendly. Food was very good and nice portions. Price was high.
Wonderful server who was informative and knowledgeable about the selections with great recommendations. The drinks were divine from the bar as well. Overall a great place to celebrate an occasion and feel welcomed and taken care of.
The menu is limited and changes with time and so there are less options than we’re used to but considering there is an emphasis on the chef and his menu, it fits well and you’re not overwhelmed. Looking forward to our next dining experience here with a different menu to try something different.
We were very excited to give Canon a shot, and a going-away celebration was
Great dinner! Food was fantastic! Great flavors, well prepared and beautifully presented. First time but will be back.
This is hands down one of the best meals for the price we have ever had. We each had a cocktail and then split 6 small plates. Bill came to $130. Any other restaurant of this caliber (let alone another Michelin place) would cost twice as much and likely not have as great of food. Highlights were the Broccoli and the scallops. Only thing we wouldn’t order again is the tots, did not enjoy the mole sauce.
First of all I’d like to say we enjoyed our time at Canon.
Here are my notes:
I would’ve like to know what the type of rum in my cocktail was, the menu descriptions are a conversation starter but also slightly vague.
For the pickles, I expected all “actual” pickles, not just pickled items!
The celery flavor was lacking for the Shigoku oysters, otherwise the chamomile and peppered flavors were exciting.
As someone used to dining in Michelin restaurants in Europe, having servers in different colored outfits is confusing but definitely added to the casual theme.
At one point the woman who foodran to us said “I see you don’t have a knife!,” and brought us a knife to cut our Treviso Salad. This was excellent attention to detail.
The food was dynamic and exciting, yet comforting and familiar. Clearly a play on the word “Canon,” including the most important or influential dishes of late. However, I would like to see a story weaved into the theme of the restaurant. These dishes are American canon? Californian canon? People love a story.
Regardless, this restaurant takes a familiar plate and makes it cool.
I was intrigued to find that they use a garbanzo bean foam for the red cap cocktail, a nice vegan take on an egg foam.
The drumsticks were amazing, slow-cooked/cured chicken later roasted in duck fat and at 300 degrees for 3 hrs. Resulting in a perfect drumstick that I wish I’d find more often.
-knowledgeable server who is equally untimidating
-beautiful wallpaper in the bathrooms, need nicer baskets for the trash.
-pork belly is visionary - we wished the plates would’ve been changed out between proteins/salad.
Very satisfying dill, parsnip, and apple on the pork belly.
When asked about the Treviso salad the server provided a homemade recipe suggestion with balsamic which was such a nice touch.
Finally, the Chocolate Pot de Creme’s feature of tofu was tasty and inconspicuous.
Overall, Jonathan L was an excellent server.
Always great food with amazing service.
All things were outstanding. The food was off the chain. Our favorite restaurant in Sacramento.
Amazing!!!! Incredible food and service. Loved our time there
I loved the sharable small plates. Everything is unique and allows everyone to try.
I love Canon! Best restaurant in Sacramento:)
We had a wonderful time. The service was great, and the food was amazing.
Food and service were great 👍 My wife and I totally enjoyed our anniversary dinner.
Our server was fantastic! Loved the 6-person fixe meal. Lots of food. The price point is definitely more "special occasion" but this was one so we very much enjoyed ourselves.
Wonderful menu as usual!!
This is one of our favorite Sacramento restaurants. Great service, and the chef and crew are incredibly creative. The covered and heated semi-outdoor dining area is comfortable and well set up. We'll be back!
service was impeccable. there was a slight delay on one of our beet salads but they stayed on top of things and all went smoothly.
The duck and broccolini were amazing!
Fabulous evening! The waitstaff is superb, listened to what we typically like and offered excellent recommendations!
There were 8 of us and we had the private dining room. It was an evening of wonderful flavor sensations in every bite coupled with outstanding service. Canon is a culinary experience to remember. You can’t go wrong with any choice on the seasonal menus. The private dining room is quiet and allows for good conversation around the table. An evening at Canon is something we always look forward to.
Food was exceptional, except certain dishes really should be served warmer. Hot plates would help. Possibly due to labor shortage, staff unable to serve food quicker. Not blaming the server (Jonathan) since he was always on the move & very professional. Other than small shortcomings, we were very impressed.
We shared all items ordered. Everything was very tasty and beautiful presentation.
Really good meal, with generous portions and top notch service. Standouts included cocktails, root vegetables, and chicken. Comfortable outdoor seating.
This is a very nice and great place to enjoy the ambience, meals, drinks and great service! We were really impressed from arrival to the end of our meal. We will definitely will be visiting them again for another great experience!
Great place for a quite and delicious dinner. Kid friendly : )
Loved the small bites-everything was delicious and the service was incredible.
Wonderful. Per usual.
Main course was cold, our seat was very close to the main entrance. It was our anniversary so I expected a better seat and ambiance. Will I go back? Absolutely NOT
I can't say that everything knocked my socks off, but as a whole this place is pure delight. Small plate dining is my absolute favorite way to share a a meal with friends and this is definitely the best such option in Sacto.
Best dining experience I have had in Sacramento. The bartender had amazing flavor profiles in his cocktails. Complex and delicious
Set up a surprise birthday outing for my husband and his friends- thanks to Canon, the evening was a hit.
The food and service was exceptional. We could taste the freshness of the food. It was the perfect example of what farm to fork dining should be. We will definitely return.
Canon is wonderful. My only suggestion is to have bright fresh vegetables that are not disguised by coatings and sauces. Ex- just have some steamed bright green, flavored brussel sprouts, instead of blackened ones
We went for our Anniversary. Overall, we were pretty disappointed with the food and wine list and didn’t feel that the quality was worth the price. The Hamachi Crudo was either not fresh, or the quality of fish was poor and the steak was mediocre. We would also expect better wines for $18 a glass. The patio was lovely and service was good. That said, we would not return and would stick with our staples KRU and Mulvaney’s.
Great place to enjoy conversation and great food.
