Cassondra was an excellent server! Very friendly and knowledgeable.
We visited for Valentines dinner so did not see the full menu. I suspect this hotel restaurant is mainly aimed at convention and business diners. So this review may not be applicable for regular dining. They had very friendly and helpful staff, but the offerings from the kitchen were only average while the pricing was exaggerated. We had a great experience as guests of the hotel, but would likely go out to another restaurant for future dining experiences in Austin.
Great cocktails with a deft balance of flavors. My entree (shrimp and grits) was fantastic.

I guess they are still working out the kinks from only being open a year. I was hoping that it would be better after one year from opening but they still have much to be desired. We had reservations for News Year Eve brunch in the early afternoon. It took over 10 minutes to get us water and silverware, mind you the place was only about 20% occupied. Then a different server came over to us to say, " I am going to help out since your server seems to be overwhelmed". Then our original server came back and took our order - it was very confusing as to who was helping us. Then while taking our order the original server informs us that they are totally out of all whole eggs - so basically everything on the brunch menu! That was really disappointing that they wouldn't go out and get some on the fly; which is so important to the brunch menu. The overall atmosphere was nice and it was also very quiet, which made it nice for conversation. I am not sure how the noise level wold be if the place was more full, as when we were there it was pretty empty. The food that we did receive was pretty good and you can see what the chef is going fro on the flavors. But I thought the avocado toast was bland and somewhat watery from all the large tomatoes. The prices were also a bit high for the food, especially sans eggs (sorry, still bitter about that, haha). The experience all left us wanting more (and protein) and I will most likely not return, but good try.
We were there early on New Years Eve. The menu itself was good, although a little small,
but not prepared well. The squash soup was delicious, but I sent it back as it was not hot,
and they gave me a new bowl. My chicken was very good although a tiny bit overcooked due to be being a little dry, with brocollini and faro, however,
ny husband had the snapper and it was way too dry. He doesn't send food back, so he didn't,
but commented to friends later the it was dry. So, if you can get the kitchen together on these
entrees, and not overcook them, it would be a lot better.
Our reservation for three for the Christmas Dinner was for 7:45 PM and, by that time, at least one of the featured entrees (steak) had run out...The selections we were able to make were good, very fresh.
I had ordered a Petite Sirah from the wine list and the waitperson brought the Syrah selection (immediately below our choice on the list). Fortunately, I was able to stop her from uncorking the wrong bottle. She did comment that things were a bit "hectic" due to a 'greater-than-normal' number of diners, which (I guess) is understandable.
We went to Cannon + Belle to celebrate Christmas. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes until a busser brought us water and said someone would be with us soon. Finally after 20 minutes a server was running by and said she would be right with us, she was very obviously frazzled. When she came to our table she didn't greet us or apologize for the very long wait, she stated " if you're here for the Christmas menu we are out of ribeye and sunchoke soup". She stated they had a limited menu available, asked the hostess to get it for us and walked away. The hostess brought us this menu and no one ever returned. We finally decided to leave because I could imagine how the rest of the meal would have gone if this was our treatment thus far. We walked over to Stella San Jac and had an amazing meal and great cocktails. If you are looking for a place in the area skip Cannon + Belle and head over to Stella San Jac who were able to provide amazing service and food on a busy holiday!
Went for Christmas dinner and the food was okay. It could have been hotter. The service was good. The ambiance was very nice.
Was overall good experience. Well though out menu. Brick oven pizza is worth it as is the hummus plate.
We ate here for our Christmas dinner, it was ok, we had the 4 course prix fixe, it was just ok, my appetizer was 1-1/2 deviled eggs with pickled onions it was almost as good as what my wife makes at home, it seems that they are more interested in getting you in and out vs the food quality, I was almost half way through my first course when they delivered the 2nd course at which point we told them to slow down, the second course for me was a bisque which I only tried 3 spoonfuls and found it not to my liking, the 3rd course was ok, and we brought the 4th course back to our room to eat later, all in all it was not the experience we had hoped for and we will not return.
our entire experience lasted a total of 45 minutes with a final bill of $200 for 2 people not counting a gratuity for our server, and when leaving we noted that there were no parties waiting to be seated so it seems confusing that they wanted us in and out so quickly.
Kudos for good food but service was really lacking. Even after they figured out there was a problem, they didn’t adjust and say anything until we asked. A 3 course meal took 2.25 hrs and the place was less than 1/2 full. The food was creative and excellent. Nice combinations. But, that service issue was just way beyond baffling to us and I just can’t give anymore points because of it. I hope they learn from this and get better. Their food should be tried by more people. I wish them luck.
The appetizers and coffee were good, but then things fell apart when our order got caught in between a large party. Burned shrimp and grits (2 orders), and a burger made wrong (added and omitted the wrong condiments), and wasn’t served warm. After we had enough and complained, a chef came to the table, said sorry, and mentioned the big party, then gave us her card for each of the 3 of us can come back for a free appetizers (no!). The burger was removed from the bill. Doesn’t make up for a bad dinner overall. Also, the buttermilk pie was cold and crust was hard...tasted old. Yuk!
Spent Thanksgiving here with family but will return for casual drinks and dining.
Beautiful ambiance and friendly staff.
Loved the décor and tableware, felt very comfortable. Food was excellent, poached eggs cooked perfectly, strawberries tasted like they came right out of the garden. Delicious breakfast.
Wonderful food. Excellent presentation. Highly recommend. Attendees had pork shank, shrimp and grits, and the belle burger. Everyone cleaned their plates!
Seats were dirty. Server was not attentive. We kept having to ask for things when we could even find her. Eggs weren't cooked right and she didn't come back to check on us soon enough to return them. Made the whole experience subpar.
Very creative cocktails and equally interesting menu. When I made the reservation I didn't realize the restaurant was in the Hilton Hotel.
I did find it odd that we were seated immediately next to another table when there were several tables open.
My second visit to Cannon + Belle was just as good as the first. I was pleased to have the same server, Brittany, who took good care of me last time. I had a 9 oz pour of the driest Rose, which was lovely for a hot, summer day. I couldn't resist ordering the honey (local) butter and bread as an appetizer. I tried the roasted chicken with broccolini and red farro this time. It was amazing. The chicken was juicy and tender. And the farro was cooked perfectly - almost popping in my mouth. The only time I usually have farro is when I cook it for myself as so many places overcook it. I got the bourbon and bacon bread pudding to go and took it back to the hotel for me. They forgot my ice cream to go on top, but it was still pretty tasty as a midnight snack. I think I'll start coming here on every visit to Austin!
I stayed at the HILTON DOWNTOWN AUSTIN this past weekend and ate at this restaurant twice. The first time was good. The second time was awful. As a matter of fact, if my second visit would have been my first, there would never have been a 2nd visit. Three issues: 1. I ordered the rosemary focaccia appetizer (even their bread is a la carte). It appeared to be three slabs of bread with the top and bottom sliced off and toasted. The pieces of bread that were brought to the table with uneven trimmings that looked like the chef cut off parts that were burned. Upon closer examination, it was obvious that they attempted to hide the charcoal colored black side of the bread by placing the burned side down on the wood serving tray. All pieces of bread looked like black burnt toast on one side. I don't understand why they would think it acceptable serving an inedible dish. Lack of pride in what they served perhaps? I don't believe this was a mistake as it was obvious that one of the 3 pieces was trimmed on the topside to be more presentable while the bottom side was like the stuff you scrape off a grill. 2. I ordered the margherita pizza.In addition to the pool of grease in the center of the pizza, it had a strong taste of LEMON. After one bite, I was done. When the waitress came to the table at the end of the meal, I shared the burnt bread and lemon pizza issue. The kind manager came to my table indicating that she "understood that there were challenges". The manager indicated that the kitchen may not have cleaned a utensil (shredder?) between a lemon dish and my pizza. She offered me another meal but by that time, it was late, and the other person in my party was finished eating. The manager then asked if she could get me a dessert. I inquired about the desserts and an item that was not on the menu ... I was informed the additional item could be ordered. 3. Sometime later, the server came to the table and took our dessert order. We ended up being charged for desert
