Between date nights and business meals nearly every day, I have travelled many miles as far as restaurant experience goes.... This by far was the most amazing night of my life! Start to finish my night went perfectly! Everyone and everything went flawlessly and the chefs created amazing courses! I highly recommend the tasting menu with the Sommelier paring. Thinking about getting on a plane for another meal!

My wife and I made a special trip to Seattle just to eat at Canlis and it did not disappoint. We were welcomed from the moment we stepped in the door to the moment we finally walked out. We had a late reservation and it felt as if we were the only ones there. What was most refreshing, besides the great tasting food, was the attention to detail. I had noted some dietary restrictions we prefer to follow and the server not only knew about it, but made sure to advise us on any item we were thinking about getting about what we needed to be careful about. It went as far as offering us olives instead of bread. The details and attention have it on this one. I wish you luck to pick just 4 courses as everyone of them was delicious!

The Food and Service was Excellent, as it always is at the Canlis. It has been a few years since I have been there for dinner, but it always excels. Special Occasions are always noted and guests taken care of.

1st time dining at Canlis. The ambiance was lovely. The Canlis prawns are delicious, as was the duck. Fairly pricey, but a great place to go for a special occasion.

Service was outstanding, but we faced an aisle with unending bustle. Appetizers were excellent, desserts were fantastic. Entrees were adequate, but not special. Duck was dry, cod had little flavor. Wine was disappointing for the price.

I have been to Canlis about 6 times in the past year. Normally I would give it 4-5 stars on every dimension. On this night, I was a bit disappointed. Most importantly, the server was just not the "A" team. She didn't introduce several of the courses and/or accompaniments, she was a bit slow to take orders and check-back, and overall we didn't get the traditional Canlis passion & theater that I've seen in other staff members. This was a Wednesday and I wonder if it was the "B" team night? Although the following is less "controllable", I was also disappointed that Canlis was only offering 4-5 specific cocktails, because the bar/lounge is under construction. Our out-of-town guest was stumped by this, which embarrassed us as hosts. I would expect Canlis to be good enough to run a temporary service bar covering the basics, e.g. Gin & Tonic at least?!

Look if you are fortunate enough to visit this restaurant you must must order the butter poached prawns...outstanding! Beautiful setting, fabulous views and exceptional service from all staff members. The new chef had just started there recently and even though the food was presented beautifully I would have hoped for just a little more wow factor. As far as fine dining goes and which I have been lucky enough to endulge in all over the world I would give a three and a half stars based on my personal opinion. (This site doesn't allow half stars)

When things got going it was great. The only problem is that it took awhile to get going. I like having my opening cocktail to be there right away but I had to wait until food nearly starting arriving. This was partly due to the bar being closed for an upgrade, but they should have planned for a way to serve cocktails promptly. We are after all paying a lot of money for that dinner. Otherwise the food was excellent, and the ambiance romantic.
