Some well-loved dishes are Trio de Ceviche, Pato, Seco de Lomo, and Arroz Chaufa.
Chef Julio Cancho is born and raised in Peru, but classically trained in French and Italian cookery. He adds a Peruvian twist to some American dishes also on the menu.
Peruvian cuisine, considered among the best in the world, inherited its innovation, mix and flavors from Peru’s history. Its culinary fusion developed over a long process of cultural exchange between the Spanish, Africans, Chinese, Japanese and Italians, among others. The dishes became more and more varied as races mixed and migrants landed at the port of Callao.

Small local gem, excellent to amazing food, will absolutely come back again and again. Weekend offering was the chef's mystery dinner. We both got one and they came back different with subtle flavors and beautiful visual appearance. Even with allergy to dairy, eggs, peanuts, both meals were very well cooked and prepared. We will be coming back soon.
What a surprise. The food was delicious. We knew as soon as we walked in the smell of tasty food was on the way. A definite must try.
One of my favorite places ! Never disappoints!!
This is a little gem in Norwich, Ct. !!!
Great attentive service!
Excellent food! Excellent atmosphere. Great way to try something new:) super knowledable staff
I went to Canggio for the 1st time with friends for my birthday dinner. It was out of the norm for all of us but I am so glad we did! The food was fantastic and our server Stephen was Phenomenal. I could have asked for a better experience. I will most certainly eat here again because there are more items on the menu I am dying to try!
Food was amazing as always. I can’t say enough how good this restaurant is. Keep doing what your doing.
Everything was outstanding!!! the food, the service, the ambiance!!
Amazing staff! Fresh food cooked to order every time. I have never been disappointed every meal is delicious.
The food is outstanding. I have never had Peruvian food before but we will certainly return to this gem as there were so many items we would like to try.
It was really good
Started with the Yakatori appetizer. It came recommended by our server Steve as a perfect example our food a Canaggio. He was absolutely correct. The beef heart was mildly spicy and very tender, the fried queso was delicious, the pork belly was phenomenal, as was the chicken skin.
The first main course chosen was Pulpo Chorrlland, pan seared octopus with chicha de jora, onion, tomato, garlic, aji panca, parsley, butter, white wine, and arroz. It was tender, perfectly spiced, and absolutely delicious. I am so glad I chose to try something other than Sicilian octopus dish.
The second main course was Pato, a pan seared duck breast, prosciutto, roasted brussel sprouts, carrots, and a daikon cream reduction. The duck was done perfectly and is to die for.
Two thumbs up and we will be coming back in the future.
Great dining experience, informed and congenial wait staff, pleasant atmosphere and owners pleasant concerned patron interaction. Great menu selections to please any taste. Great dining experience
Nice varied menu reasonably priced. I won’t be afraid to try anything on the menu. We went outside our comfort zone and both dishes ordered were beyond expectation !!
Seated quickly, great service, great food. Second time here, doesn't disappoint.
The food was good but not especially out of the ordinary. The service was friendly and inviting.
We were greeted warmly on arrival, and seated immediately. We were off to a great start! However, it took quite some time to get beverages, which was a bit frustrating. We did like the empanadas, very flavorful and came with two great sauces. I had the paella, which was average in flavor. It was interesting in that it had crawfish in it. Two of the clams and one of the mussels that were served in the bowl did not open, and when I mentioned it to the server, she came back quickly and told me that the Chef apologized and wanted to send us a complimentary dessert. That was a nice offer. We asked for the flan, and were told they didn't have any (this was at 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday - not late). We then asked for the creme brulee. We waited quite some time and the dessert never arrived.
We asked for our check and the waitress boxed up the dessert for us to take. Not a great experience.
Our waiter Kyle is awesome, extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere and food are great and we always enjoy ourselves immensely!
Absolutely Love this restaurant!!! The best I have ever been to in every way !!! Thank you so much for offering unique cuisine and exceptional service!!!
Slow service, mediocre food, overpriced. Not "upscale" as they describe.
Excellent paella and the salmon with sweet potatoes was fantastic.
This is my new favorite restaurant. Lovely service, delicious food.
Deliciously prepared food and they cater to those with dietary restrictions!
A hidden gem in Norwich, for sure! From the moment we entered we were treated by a friendly, caring staff, which set the tone for a wonderful evening. The creative cocktail list was fun and the appetizers outstanding. We had the empanadas, mussels - which were to die for, and pork bellies, along with our cocktails and wine. Dinner followed and I was lucky enough to get a taste of everyone's! The pasta with goat cheese sauce and shrimp was divine, as was the salmon special, and the paella. Unfortunately we didn't have room for dessert, but it would've been a difficult choice given the authentic Peruvian desserts versus the classics such as creme brulee! We had such a wonderful dinner that one member of our group returned the following day with her husband for lunch. We are all soon to return! Thanks Canggio for such a memorable meal!
This was our first time at Canggio's and it was a delightful experience. The waitress we had was helpful and very nice. The food is delicious to say the least. We will come back again for sure.
Those empenadas are to die for! I didn't have it this visit but the lemon and goat cheese pasta is my go to dinner!
I have been to Canggio's before. I keep going back because it is that good. What they do, they do perfectly. The food is fantastic and creative. The service is also exemplary and very accommodating. Bravo.
We went for New Years Eve dinner to have a nice night out before going to a concert. The five-course special of the night was amazing. Wonderful sauces on properly cooked items. It was one of the best meals I have had in a long time.
Great selection of food for dinner or lunch. Fun signature cocktails, limited beer selection.
Fabulous food as always! Canggio never disappoints.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant! We couldn’t decide what to order so Julio brought samples of appetizers and main courses. Still couldn’t decide what I liked best, it was all delicious! I tried ceviche for the first-but not the last-time. Everything was great. A true gem in Norwich.
Comfortable, Clean great calamari and salmon sandwich.
Meal, as always was very well prepared and presented. Staff is very friendly and attentive. This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
What a surprise in Norwich! The food was great and priced right. Our server was friendly and professional. I highly recommend it and will be back.
Hidden gem! Comforting yet modern venue, with very tasty Peruvian staples, such as ceviche (pictured) and lomo saltado. Omnivores, pescatarians, and vegetarians should all be able to eat here. Big, beautifully-prepared portions with fresh ingredients. Very nice waitstaff offer good suggestions for newbies. Look forward to returning.
Food was fantastic! We had a hard time selecting a dish because so many items looked delicious! We will definitely be returning!
Birthday with son and his father. Cuisine deliciously prepared and savored.
the restaurant "lost" our reservation. thank goodness I had the email receipt. we were then seated at the "chef's table". we had to ask for a waitress after waiting a while. the food was extremely salty... and I like salty but this was too much. the chef was gracious. he bought our bottle of wine.
Never go wrong by selecting Canggio - the cross culture food is amazing. Servers are spot on with service.
Overall the experience was quite enjoyable. The food was good, if not great. The true Peruvian dishes were outstanding. The blue corn drink was a treat.
