Such a great place. The food are service are top notch!

I will definitely be back to this place because it’s a decent, well priced spot two blocks from my house. It seems everyone who has ever been to Spain deems themselves experts on Spanish food. I’ve been here before and loved it so I came back, and it did not disappoint. Service was delightful and when the bottle of wine served was flawed the server replaced it without hesitation. Loved the service, (I’m not a smoker) but I looooove salt and acid and feel every dish like the gambas al ajilo and croquetas de jamon needed it. I would have loved some membrillo with the quesos. Seafood paella was tasty but needed more salt and lemon, maybe it’s just me. But, will I be back??? Absolutely.

We had a great meal with excellent service, as always.

We booked a table for 7:15 but got it only at 8. We had been told there would be heaters but there was only 3 very small ones. We were freezing. We ended up taking the dishes as take away, leaving full glasses of wine behind. The waiters were friendly and the food delicious but this restaurant is very badly organized.

Good food !!

Considering the extremely dire current circumstances, this was an amazing experience for us. We can’t wait to try it indoors when a sense of normalcy returns.

Excellent food and service. They really do tapas right

Went here on Sat 5th, the last night before SIP shutdown took effect. No parklet (*yet*), but used the sidewalk for cute standalone tent booths that block the wind & tables against the building with individual space heaters. We were seated at the table farthest from the door, and worried that we'd be forgotten since we were so far away. We were, at first - then the owner Matt took over service for our table, and was perfectly attentive! Food was yummy, wine list & recommendations were AMAZING. Food favs were Gambos al Ajillo & Grilled Bavette Steak. I've had their paella before, too - very, very good. Great value - we ended up having a really great evening.

*They're taking advantage of this shutdown to build their parklet. They do takeout for pickup & delivery, and also sell rare FANTATIC Spanish wine retail at a super-solid price. Highly recommend!

Excellent service and food. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. Paella was outstanding, tapas were great and the wine list had everything one would look for. Exemplary experience.

We love the wine here and tapas are delicious! They label each Gluten Free and Vegan item which made it super easy for me to order and they have a GF/DF chocolate olive oil cake with coconut creme! It was FANTASTIC and so unexpected!

We enjoyed the service and it was fun being out on Market St, right by Castro. Very lively and entertaining.

The best service we’ve had in Covid times, our waiter was highly attentive to our needs and knew the answer to any and every question you had regarding the wine list. We loved it here and would go back

I love Canela, it's one of my favorite restaurants in SF! They are slightly more on the expensive side, but great service and amazing food! They also have fun specials for different holidays that you should try out!

Wonderful service. Street side dining on busy Market street; not ideal but would recommend for the food and local vibe. It was fun overhearing neighborhood regulars interacting with staff and owner. I would love to have Canela's as my local go to.

Paul and team took great care of us. All of the dishes we tried were excellent, although the lamb chops, gambas al ajillo, and little gem salad all stood out. We also really enjoyed the churros. Highly recommended

Restaurant week. A great way to try a new restaurant. So glad we did.

What a fantastic meal! After being cooped up due to Covid, we decided to have a really nice meal out. We were both so glad we did! Although lots of outdoor tables were available (with a reservation), we opted for indoors for our anniversary dinner. And we felt completely safe (wearing masks when not eating). The inside was relaxed and quiet, with just a couple of tables. (The only positive thing about Covid, for diners at least -- is the quiet!) And that quiet made the meal feel even more luxurious because it was even more relaxing and easy to talk. And did we talk... mostly about the food. Really wonderful!

They are a doing a great job with Covid restrictions. Took some time to get someone to come seat us, even with a reservation. It seemed like either they were a little confused on how to seat people or maybe the host disappeared and know one else knew how to help out with that part. The food and service beyond that was great. We did sit outside and it was very chilly out- plan ahead for a cold SF night if you can’t get a table inside as it will make dining a little uncomfortable during the coursed out food service that you have with a tapas menu. When I go back, I’ll make sure to get a table inside!

- Outdoor "patio" area is just the sidewalk.
- Food was subpar and very overpriced - $65/person for paella?
- Service was scattered.

The tapas was good and original. The Jamon iberico was underwhelming and not great quality. The paella was a bit too soggy in my opinion. The service was good but it was difficult to get drinks refilled which was important considering the saltiness of the food. I overall was expecting a lot more from the experience and left wishing we had gone to another restaurant.

This place was great and the food was delicious. I also appreciated the wait staff and their attentiveness. I can’t wait for their indoor space to open again and I would definitely go back.

My friends and I have been going to Canela for a few years it is always been wonderful. The service is Always friendly and attentive. The food is that going to Spain. I highly recommend this restaurant. I am so glad it survived Covid.
