As we walked into the restaurant, we noticed we were the only ones there. This was a bit concerning but considering the COVID-19 issue and few people were going out to eat, we decided to stay and make the most of having the restaurant all to ourselves.
For starters we had the grilled octopus. It was very tasty and I would recommend ordering it, but it was on the verge of being over-grilled, so advise the waitperson you don't want it too well done. Secondly, we had the paella mixto. It was fabulous. Just the right amount of everything. More than enough for two hungry adults and enough for left-overs for lunch.
The Spanish guitar player on Sunday serenaded us with beautiful music. By the time we left there were two other tables enjoying the cuisine. Great restaurant. We will be back.
Amazing food...excellent service! Don't doubt to go to Candela!
This chef driven restaurant is one of my local favorites !
The quality of the ingredients the specials and menu of classic Spanish preparation is superb. The ambiance and service all live up to the quality experience .
It is a special place for special occasions but also a place for casual tapas and a week night or weekend dinner for two or with a group of friends/ family .
Nice ambiance, including live guitarist. Small place, though, so a little loud near the music. Food and service both very good.
Best Spanish restaurant in Broward County. Great service and excellent food!
Food here is always unbelievably good! Had charcuterie, clams, and seafood paella and everything was perfect!
The place is nice inside ,but outside is ugly .Also the plates are expensive and the service doesn’t deserve that kind of price on the plates they are only two person working. If you are going to celebrate your birthday pick other place they charge you per person 3.50 to cut your own cake, and they don’t sing happy birthday.Other than that the food taste good.
Took a shot in the dark. This place is so not judge a book by its cover
Totally outstanding food. Love it and open late. Could not have been happier
Amazing food and service! We were a group celebrating my partner’s and they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
The ambiance transported us to Spain. It was warm and inviting as were the servers. Our table of four shared the octopus appetizer, a Serrano ham on toast appetizer, the garbanzo beans with chorizo, two large roasted seafood platters and two bottles of Tempranillo wine. Everything was delicious and served promptly. We will definitely return to try more dishes!
, a couple of large roasted seafood platters and two bottles of Tempranillo wine.
Rice in paella was overcooked, and had no taste. Fideua was also overcooked.
Nice place, food was good, great options and really fresh and tasty, good wines options. Service is OK, it could definitely improve, we had not finished eating and the waitress wanted to take the plates, came several times until we let her take them even without finishing....
It was great. An authentic flavor of Spain in Fort Lauderdale. Great service.
Great food and the guitar player provided a nice ambiance to dinner. I highly recommend dining there!
Candela has the relaxed ambiance of a neighborhood restaurant with the additions of upscale service and food. If you are not familiar with tapas or some of the menu items, your server explains them nicely. You can also follow your server's recommendations. When my husband and I went for a holiday dinner, many of the other diners were just having small plates or enjoying happy hour. Candela is quite an addition to te Wilton Manors/Oakland Park area.
Delicious, authentic, thoroughly satisfying food, and the guitarist was wonderful!
I found this restaurant on Open Table and after reading the reviews decided to try it. Was not disappointing! The food was excellent, service great and ambiance just perfect. There was live music from a gentleman playing the guitar. Very romantic! Price point was not bad and will definitely go back. Great find!
Excellent experience from start to finish! Cute little space away from downtown that offers an authentic atmosphere with live music. The food was delicious and quite reasonably priced. The cava sangria was also very good. Will definitely be back for authentic tapas that taste like came right from Spain!
Wonderful experience! Food was great, service was very good, and there was live music. Very nice ambiance. Will definitely be back!
great food and ambiance
Amazing place, very good prices and the food espectacular!!!!!
It was traditionally Spanish and authentic. Delicious food and the music choice was nice. Great place.
Everyone should eat there at least once in their life. We have been eating there for the past 3 years and had them cater our wedding dinner. Best food ever. Addicting and always super fresh. Bread w salty fish, the squid ink rice paella with seafood, the lamb shank that falls off the bone faster than you can catch it. Forget about the dessert if you have room and you MUST leave room from the perfectly paired wine to the amount of food you will consume, the best is yet to come! Almond cake Chocolate cake and Tiramisu TO DIE FOR!
Definitely. This place is the best I go there very often. They have the best Spanish food. They are friendly and try to accommodate you. They have also live music. Will keep going and recommend it
I am almost afraid to recommend this restaurant, it's sooo good and authentic! A real Spanish menu with some little personal twists by the chef that make the experience extraordinary.
Charming and hidden gem. Food was delish, service suffers when place full. Regresaré
The restaurant is nicely decorated, the ambiance and music was also very enjoyable. Our waitress/waiter was very attentive My husband and I ordered the paella negra for a cost of $27/person, we both found it expensive for a full plate of mussels, 3 shrimps and a few pieces of squid. If it was closer to us, which the ride from Miami Lakes was 45 minutes we might have considered a second chance.
Candela feels like a family run Spanish restaurant, where the chef himself comes out to either serve you, or check to see if you like his creation. Even though we originally came to Candela for a Tapas dinner, we ordered the mussels as an appetizer (small plate), and then ordered two main dishes - the lamb shank, and the branzino (European Sea Bass) with roasted potatoes. Both were extraordinary!! Even the potatoes that came with the branzino were awesome - thinly sliced as roasted semi-crisp. I love mussels, and the mussels appetizer did not disappoint. Very slightly spicy - with a sauce that demands you ask for bread to soak it up to enjoy.
After such a great experience with the main courses, I had to order the flan for dessert. That too did not disappoint - super creamy melt-in-your-mouth texture, with lots of dark caramel juice/sauce.
I don’t live in Fort Lauderdale, because, if I did, I would be coming back again and again. Now I’ll just have to make sure Zi spread the word, so others can enjoy this wonderful experience.
We were surprised to find this hidden secret in Fort Laudardale where great restaurants are not abundant. If you are up for authentic Spanish food made with ingredients from Spain and expertise, this is the place to go. Great service provided by amiable staff. Anything on the menu is good. We order a couple of appetizers and main entrees to try different dishes and they were all delicious. It is worthy of trying if you are in the area or even driving for a full tasty experience.
Always an amazing experience! Every visit to Wilton manners includes a trip to candela… From the moment you walk in the front door, you’re greeted with incredible hospitality and outstanding service… The food is beyond exceptional and the wine selection is amazing.
The restaurant was in a strip mall and at first we weren’t overwhelmed with the location and appearance. However, I’m glad we gave it a try. It was worth it! Food was fantastic, service was great. We will be back.
Great find. Great variety and near authentic experience. It was also good to see most patrons actually having conversation while enjoying their tapas instead of staring in silence at their iPhone. As simple as it is the warm bread and cheese board are a great way to kick off you meal.
Costumer service is very rude and unprofessional. This need to improve. Also there is not octupus. How is a Spanish restaurant doesn't have octupus....
Excellent food! Will be going back!
We love this place! And the owner is the nicest gentleman and really cares about the guests. The male server and the busser/food runner don’t know if they were having a bad night or woke up on the wrong side of the bed but they were so rude that it left a very sour taste in our mouths. I will rethink about coming back here.
Yummy food and wine. Fun and helpful server
Wonderful food and service. Live music was nice but took a little getting used to the volume. Great place for a date or a nice evening out.
We eat there about once a week
As always Candela exceeded my expectations. Took my out of town Dad her for an amazing dinner. The papas bravos are amazing! This is one of our go to places in town.
Very good place for a typical spanish food. Fair price
