Canaletto Ristorante Veneto Ratings and Reviews
Nice place, good service; however, more attention must be paid to 'cooking' the food. The pasta, risotto were Under cooked; had to be sent back, and came back about the same.
The $10 plate of Cannelini beans was so under cooked it was inedible, and Yes, we do understand "Al Dente".
The service was good, and the attentive manager, Bart, did try to make it right.
Dover Sole, $50!?
All of our food was really yummy!
Servers/waitstaff very nice & helpful
(Unfortunately, it would have been nice to know a very large loud party would subsequently fill the rest of our particular room--so we could no longer HEAR ANYTHING. Had to almost yell...not nice.)
Have been here before...it's otherwise lovely.
We were there for a birthday celebration. We had to be moved to a different table because we were placed next to a party of 22 people and the noise level made us have to shout to each other. After being moved, the waiter dropped the ball on us. Forgot to put in one of our dinner orders, completely forgot that we brought in our own cake for dessert, charged us for the "complimentary dessert" he mistakenly delivered to the birthday girl in place of the cake. And only half of the requested leftovers to be saved were boxed for take-home. The waiter should not have been assigned to more than one table with such a large party to deal with.
Canaletto's has very tasty food, attentive service, and a variety of draught beer. My family and I enjoyed Caesar salad, soup of the day, and a delicious pizza. The restaurant is convenient for Fashion Island shoppers as well as the many local businesses, and prices are high but reasonable. I would definitely return to this restaurant when in the area.
Canaletto Ristorante Veneto has perfected the art of italian cuisine and the art of running a restaurant. From the time our party of four was greeted, through service, through dining, and through the end, the food and service were impeccable. We started with cocktails and oysters and calamari. Everything was delightful. The main courses varied, with dishes of meat and fish and risotto. Everything was cooked perfectly. Even more, everything was cooked with a unique flair that made our trip from Los Angeles to Newport Beach worth the trip.
The restaurant is not a bargain. Our dinner for four, with tip, was about $340. Nevertheless, the premium price was matched by the premium food and service.
I recommend Canaletto Ristorante Veneto, without hesitation.
We dined at Canaletto to sample their catering menu for a small wedding reception for our daughter. Every dish we selected was delectable. Standouts were the burrata appetizer platter, the arugula salad with pears and grapes, the risotto, the roast chicken, and the Bolognese gnocchi. The fresh hot bread brought to the table was fantastic. The Chianti Classico was top notch. And our server Ramona was attentive and wonderful with menu suggestions. We are so excited to have the reception at Canaletto!
The best restaurant to have any gathering. You will be delighted the staff, very attentive, the management, always available the food OUT STANDING!!! Treat yourself and someone you love or like even.... have a meal at Canaletto's you will love this Newport Jewel as much as we do.
I was insulted, embarrassed and disappointed when management ask us to leave because the table was reserved, although the restaurant was empty, during a business lunch. I've been to this establishment several times before without being disrespected. They did offer another table on our way out, but the damage has been done.
