Very nice but a little pricey. Everything prepared for our party was delicious.
Birthday celebration for my wife and our 2 adult children and spouses. Excellent food, very good service, reasonably priced and ample free parking. All in all a very good experience and would definitely return.
The risotto is perfection on a plate. The staff is friendly and attentive. We have been here several times and are never disappointed.
We always love coming here to celebrate birthdays before we get our massages and facials!
We went for our anniversary. James was our waiter. He is absolutely the best! This is the second time he has taken care of us and we always ask to be at one of his tables. His menu recommendations are excellent.
Awesome service and food. We will be definitely be going back!!!!!
Perfecto from start to finish. The food, the service, and the great staff all made for a special dining occasion.
Excellent service and food as usual. Especially great value during Restaurant Week.
Great food, authentic and well presented. Portions are right and flavorful. Clean and inviting location in Fashion Island. Cozy fireplace room adds to the ambiance. Spectacular attentive service.
The ambiance and setting is great for a date. A little too loud though. It was difficult to hear each other talk at times.
The food was absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable as well.
My server Ana was outstanding!!
Made the reservation 2 weeks in advance. Advised the restaurant that it was my wife's birthday, our waiter had no idea! When we were seated there was a puddle of water under our table. I got up and spoke to the host/hostess to see if we could move. They said they could move us outside where it was raining. Not a great idea for a birthday celebration. I suggest they work on customer relations at the front desk.
Best food in town
Restaurant loud but energetic. Great food.
The food was good. The service was good.
On this occasion, there was a family with a child that was very loud. The parents refused to try to get the child to quiet down. My wife and I, as well as those around us were disturbed throughout most of our meal. Unfortunately it dampened the occasion.
Had a great visit and our server was amazing. Very knowledgeable of ingredients and hospitable! My risotto was a bit undercooked for my liking but that may be the correct way to enjoy it, I have no idea. The flavor however was delicious!
Great service and food!!
Great food and wonderful service. I am looking forward to the next visit. Thank you!
waiter mixed up our drink order a couple of times. Very nice man and had alot of tables but we were never rushed so it was good for a business meeting
Amazing atmosphere and vibe! Our waiter, (David ) was attentive, thoughtful and tried to make my husband's bday memorable. My only complaint was they were very stingy on cheese and when my sister asked for an adjustment on the rosotto the chef said no. I felt for the prices they should be more accommodating, but over all, amazing place
My date and I ate here before a jazz concert at the Fashion Island Marriott. The location was very convenient. I had a filet mignon and my date had a seafood platter with multiple items. Both were excellent.
Second time to this place and they always satisfy me. The Risotto with seafood is seasoned balanced. The chef surely knows how to cook a salt-crusted seabass--the fish is seasoned well and so are the veggies. Though the grilled polenta is lightly dry and burnt; and the edge of the fish is too salty due to the salt that is not cleaned up. The dessert trio is also one of the best ones in OC.
The restaurant is gorgeous, you get a super authentic Italian feel. The servers are very professional, helpful, kind and funny. The food is authentic and very tasty. Felt like I was actually in Italy for a second, definitely recommend this place to anyone!
I’m a frequent customer, but won’t be any more. Our sever was the worst server I have had in a long time. Just completely clueless about her role and approach. Food was not good either...just a very disappointing experience all around. I won’t be back...too many other great dining options in Orange County
I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day and requested a good table with side by side seating. If unable to accommodate that request somewhere cozy or patio or fireplace. I also inquired upon the dessert special they featured with initials in the cake.
When we arrived, they seated us right by the hostess stand, where carts were bumping my dates chair and without any room to relax. We even escalated a request to move to any other table and would wait... they refused.
When we were seated, we were asked what we wanted to drink. The drinks took way too long and when she arrived with them we ordered our food.
The food took a very long time as well, we had to continually ask for more olive oil and balsamic for our bread, they never cleared the table of plates or drinks, we were never asked if we wanted another drink or were ever checked on once our meals arrived.
Finally we asked for the check to just get out of there.
Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
The food was also mediocre and much better once reheated and doctored at home.
Second time here, food was again very very good. The bread is fantastic and the deserts are not from this world.
I will be back.
Service was impeccable.
On Valentine’s Day night we were seated in a patio area with very poor lighting. The atmosphere was more of a dark warehouse and not a romantic setting for Valentine’s Day. I asked for a candle and was told they had none.
In addition, my girlfriend has some severe allergies and the waiter told her the chef would make no accommodations for her because they were so busy. If that was true, then we should have been informed of that when we made our reservation. Not customer friendly at all.
We have dined at this restaurant many times before without any complaints. Valentine’s night was a disaster.
My wife and I had a Valentine’s dinner. We were seated outside which actually made the noise level minimal and easier to hear each other. The food was great (as usual) and the service was very good minus one gaffe. Our server forgot to put in our appetizer order but accommodations were made immediately when the error was discovered. A very nice experience all around.
Tables too tight together as every time waiter or busboy tried to serve adjacent table, the either bumped into outer table or had to lean over it,
The waiter was very good! He was very friendly and personable and mad
We had the chicken asparagus risotto and it was outstanding! The price was really expensive but the food was very good.
Sad to say, this Valentine’s Day experience was not good. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated in what was clearly an annex of some sort, set up just for the evening. It was a small square room with no ambiance at all, crammed full of small tables with folding chairs. The round table was so small the food and drinks barely fit. It did not set us up to enjoy the meal. Even the food was a bit disappointing as it was under seasoned. I don’t think the beef carpaccio, the grilled salmon, or the otherwise excellent roasted potatoes had been salted at all, and there was no salt on the table. Salt was brought promptly upon request, though. That brings me to the one bright spot - the service. Our waiter was great. This was not my first trip to Canaletto and it may not be my last. But I will definitely not be back on a holiday if any sort.
Entrees took 45 minutes to come out after appetizers..then one entree came out cold. Manager didn’t even come and discuss...will never return.
Canaletto is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is amazing and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Every dish we have tried is excellent. My husband loves the oysters, and you have to try the octopus appetizer. The chocolate cake melted in my mouth. SOO GOOD. Can't wait to go back. Canaletto is a fun place to go for a date or a big gathering with friends and family.
We met friends there after a lecture at the Newport Library. We were in the small room with a fireplace. We have had the same waiter several times...a nice Italian gentleman who provided excellent service.
Delicious Italian food, attentive staff without hovering, nice wine selection. Just a good time in all ways.
The food was great the place is cute but the service was below average that night.
Excellent , excellent , excellent !
