Canaletto Ratings and Reviews
We ate here prior to show. We got our food in plenty of time. It was served hot and very tasty. The atmosphere is great....it appears you are sitting outside with the painted ceiling! We requested to sit in the patio area and it was a great start to our evening. Service was fantastic.
I had requested (via phone call to the restaurant) a table in the upstairs dining room. Upon arrival at restaurant, we were told that the upper dining room tables were only available by arranging in advance with special events staff. We were seated at a table just inside the dining room, which was very noisy......no ambience whatsoever. Service was sketchy at best. It was my husband's 60th birthday and I advised the server as such upon our entry, and when making the reservation. we ordered drinks immediately which were slow to be delivered to the table. as were our meals. Food was ok at best....spaghetti and meatballs were terrible, odd tasting meatballs and very heavy smoked flavor. House salad was overdressed. Prices were very high based on quality of food and portions. Overall, a very disappointing evening for what was expected to be special evening out.
Professional, friendly service; asked for several items not on the menu and they came through with flying colors! (standard caprese salad and linguine vongole both were excellent). The gnocchi bolognese was light, meaty and just enough spiciness to the marinara to make it special. Will definitely return next time in Vegas.
Terrific Restaurant. Truly enjoyed the service and the food was very good. Try the calamari best ever mm mmm . It is a bustling location with lots of noise of people chatting and music playing. We were group of 7 and loved it. For Vegas great value we would return.
We sat down for a business lunch about 11:30 and the singing in the background made it impossible to hear the person across the table from you. The performance was fine but it needed to be for a couple minutes and it seemed like it went on for a half hour. Thanks.
I love Canaletto. I have been to Vegas once or twice a year for the last 8 years. A friend brought me to Canaletto about 6 years ago and I go every single time I am in Vegas. Sometimes I go more than once. Their Pear Ravoli is literally straight from heaven for me. I have friends who have loved the Lobster, the calzones, and so much more. I would highly recommend.
The Venetian is the best place to have dinner. The shops and restaurants are on a different floor than the casino, so you can go with your family without walking through the smokey casino. The ambiance is great if you sit "outside". It's like being in a real italian restaurant in a piazza in Italy. The food wasn't as exciting as the ambiance and service, but I would go back.
Great Italian restaurant located in the heart of the Venetian Hotel Canal Shoppes shopping area located next to the Gondola canals. Great selection of entrees and desserts. Prices on par with other moderate pricing level restaurants in Vegas (appetizers are in the $10-25 range and main courses range from high teens to mid $30s). Traditional Italian food with a modern flair. Be aware that this is the Canaletto-Il Fornio restaurant. There is another Italian restaurant one passes on the way called Il Fornio. Both are owned by the same business group. The Il Forino one is more upscale and fancier than the Canaletto one. Cantaleto has a better menu, though.
Delicious cocktail, bread and pasta entree. Excellent service. Great ambiance in St. Mark's Square of The Venetian - indoors, but you'd swear you were outside and in Venice. Lots of people are passing by and live music fills the courtyard. Beautiful surroundings - a very enjoyable experience.
So, never been to The Venetian at all, ever, but my cousin swears by it. I texted him that we were looking for a good Italian restaurant to celebrate our anniversary at, this was one of his suggestions, we were so pleasantly surprised that the pricing was fair, and the food was spectacular! We will definitely be back!!!
With all the Italian spots in Vegas, they could have done better on several levels. We had a reservation directly following a show. St Mark's Square was pretty, but loud and filled with very large travel organized groups. Perhaps ask to sit inside. Food was just ok....I had ribbons of pasta with spinach, bacon, chicken in a brandied cream sauce: pasta was too al dente (and I only eat al dente) 1.5-2-minutes longer would have greatly improved the dish, hardly any chicken and yet very loaded with bacon, too much. My husband had the homemade pesto gnocchi...they were simply ok. Waiter was nice, food was brought to table by a server, our waiter came late to offer grated cheese or fresh black pepper (which we always request) we had already started eating, just too late. Manhattan for my husband was shaken not stirred (very foamy top): bartender should be updated. Juice drinks, shake. Liquor drinks stirred. Giada's nearby at Cromwell is where I would next for Italian near the Venetian.
I made reservations through Opentable, stating it was our 5 year anniversary, which was never acknowledged. My risotto was severely underdone and the waiter argued with me that’s how risotto is done, al dente—I had rice shards in my teeth. He told me I’m not familiar with arborio rice or Italian food. Finally he suggested I order something else, I ordered gnocchi, and they were raw, mushy and the cream sauce was split. I told our waiter and he said, “Yes I knew the gnocchi was no good.”
Then why send them?! Totally ruined our anniversary dinner. Never going back there again.
We have eaten at Canaletto's three or four times when in the Venetian. The food is always consistent, excellent, but the service is also consistently slow. IMHO - there are too few wait staff per table, and when eating inside the venue, the traffic by the staff from the kitchen to the outside tables, is significant. I suppose if you wished to eat out in the square - then the traffic issue wouldn't exist, but the volume of sound in the square is significant, and I find it not contusive to digestion. So - the food good, the staff slow, the noise loud. I would recommend this restaurant but plan on ALWAYS having a reservation if you wish to ensure fast seating.
We had an outstanding experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the ambience of Venice was awesome. Our waiter James was a very experienced waiter, who made sure everything was perfect, his timing and attention to detail was above and beyond.
