Canal Bistro - Mediterranean Grille
George says. "It's been our dream to open our own place, to be creative with cuisine, and to have a family business that our sons can be a part of."
The Canal Bistro is that dream. "It's like you've come to one of our parties -- we've basically just moved our kitchen from home to here," they say. "We put the grill in the dining room because we want people to know that we are using top quality ingredients, and that freshness is our goal, so everything is done right in front of you."
So eat up, relax, be happy. You're eating in a dream come true!
This is our favorite Mediterranean restaurant - Their Baba & warm pita is always the first thing we order! We are never disappointed. Can’t wait to sit outside along the canal soon!
Food and drinks were great. Even the vegetarian in the group enjoyed the food. The stuffed Dolmathes. Are vegetarian and so good.
Excellent service and nice ambiance! Saganaki was delicious. Spanikopita was small and a little over cooked. Enjoyable experience overall.
We were blown away by the delicious food and friendly service. This is going to be one of our regular spots in Indy now! Get the beef shwarma, you will be glad you did!
The service was excellent, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. However, the noise level was very high. We had family from out of town and we found it difficult to converse with anyone except the person right next to you. I would be glad to go again -- if conversation was not important.
Loved the food...the service and the parking lot attendant!
The food didn't have a lot of flavor. I love spice this was missing. It just wasn't my personal taste. I would recommend it. The service was great. The place was nice and clean.
Wonderful from beginning to end, very good staff, from the time we pulled in, all smiles!
Would definitely recommend, and will be going back! 10/10
Food was really good. Unfortunately though, the Lebanese eggplant dish was a little mushy. Service was wonderful, atmosphere and decor lovely and festive, but a bit noisy. The tables are close together and there were large parties around us - everyone was super friendly and it wasn't a problem, but if on a date, you might want to ask to sit in a corner? Overall, wonderful and fun! Would highly recommend - we are definitely going back!
The lamb shank was very good with one issue. Most of the meat was moist and tender but there was a section which was somewhat dry and stringy. I will also suggest offering mint jelly to compliment the
lamb shank. Since our dining experience was for a birthday party, all of the people in the party were given a slice of baklava. The taste of the baklava caused me to think I died and went to heaven.....DELICIOUS. The service was exceptional and professional. We felt welcomed and appreciated.
Yummy Mediterranean food. Good size portions, but not huge. Staff was all amazingly friendly. Will definitely return!
Gyro meat was very dry, some pieces more like jerky!
This plate used to come with pita bread and green beans and that has been removed. Have eaten here many times but will hesitate to return
The service was outstanding- absolutely no wait for our reservation and our waitress was amazing. Our drinks were never empty. No one had any complaints about their food and we all ordered something different. I would order the portobello appetizer and lamb shank entree again and again. It was a great girls' night out!
Excellent mediterranen Food!
We celebrated son’s 22nd birthday. The waitress heard me mention it and brought him a dessert with a candle. Food was good. Restaurant was not crowded and relatively quiet, which was great for talking during dinner.
The food was very good and the ambiance nice, but the service was the shining star. The location is outside our routine, but we will plan to visit again.
Very reliable. Good food and good service.
First time in restaurant - we enjoyed being there, the food and the service. We will return!
The best gyro meat in town! Gyro salad, burrito, sandwich or platter. They also have a great brunch! :)
The location and atmosphere are great. I was really disappointed with the food, especially for the cost. I ordered a beet salad, and it was just a salad with sliced, cold beets on it. The spanakopita was greasy and not tasty. The dolmathes tasted blah and really not good. Overall, the portions were small, too. The hummus was good, but I was really bummed overall because I normally love Greek food.
We had a lovely waitress who was a former student of my son in law’s. Our service was quick and the food was good. The falafel was highly fried and too greasy for me however I probably shouldn’t have order it. I personally love the vegetarian options on the menu. We will be back!
I love Canal Bistro. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Food is always delicious.
We've eaten here many times and it never disappoints. It was my birthday and we love Mediterranean food and this is very authentic. The portions are large. The calamari is the best I've had. Our waitress Katlin was very attentive and really made a good Manhattan and old fashioned. The Turkish coffee and dessert were to die for. Make sure to keep room.
The waitress was unprofessional. I did not like how she spoke to us, how she spoke about the restaurant, and how she spoke of herself. I usually visit the restaurant during the warmer months. This was actually the first time I was seated inside. I was not impressed with the service, but the restaurant was clean and our orders were made correctly.
Try the baba ganoush and definitely upgrade your fries to the garlic feta fries.
Favorite entree is either gyro plate or gyro sandwich. Always order and love the clean, green refreshing taste of the tabouli salad. My husband usually orders the garlic feta fries with his meal. And of course is required to share his fries with me!
It was a great place for a birthday celebration. Great atmosphere, drinks and food. Service was awesome! Can’t wait to return!
the food, service, and ambiance is ALWAYS fantastic
I ordered Lamb Shank dinner and it outstanding. Have not seen that at other restaurants I go to. Our waitress was most pleasant and attentive. Very pleased with the menu. I can definitely recommend this restaurant.
Amazing as always!
We chose an outside table. It was so enjoyable. The food was average. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the lamb kabob. My lamb tasted more like mutton and my wife said her lamb was tough. The service was excellent. I would go back to try other items on the menu.
Always have a good meal here. Enjoy sitting outside during the warm months.
We had an after-the-wedding gathering at Canal Bistro to give the families one last chance to spend time with the bride and groom. The food was terrific, the service excellent and the servers were so friendly and accommodating. I will definitely return to try other menu items. Thanks for making our special night even more special!
Excellent food and service! Very loud with people trying to having normal conversation. Sit outside if you want to hear others at your table.
Food was great. Sat outside on the porch while it rained. Made for a lovely evening.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time there...loved the outside seating.
Great service and extra special to sit outside on the canal
Wonderful night out for our daughters birthday! Excellent food and service. The noise level was a little much but we were a big party and certainly contributed.
Aside from the server, this was a very disappointing dining experience. While we were seated promptly and the server was appropriately attentive, our food ( gyros platter and lamb Kafta) turned out to be little more than over cooked ground meat that was far too salty but otherwise lacked much seasoning. We opted not to stay for dessert....
My lamb was so tough that it was nearly inedable. I would have sent it back if our waiter could be found. No fresh drinks 'till late in the meal. Sad for a slow Tuesday night.
Two other meals were satisfactory so fair rather than poor rating.
