Zaryn, Matt and Alan are fantastic. The food is great as well. Our favorite place in Portland.
Food was bland and disappointing. Service was good but didn’t make up for the lack of flavor. Would not recommend.
Best Spanish food in Portland, including wonderful versions of paella. Enhanced by well chosen wine list of spanish wine and sherry. great overall experience.
Very good place, nice wall painting, good place for dating.
The food is just about average. We tried Pulpo, beet salad, jamon y pan con tomate, zarzuela de marscos, that night's special lamb chops. Not bad but also no surprise.
Paella: We didn't order Paella since it's price per person and requires 2 persons minimum. Paella Negra would be $60 at least. This is my first time to see this way of ordering Paella in Portland Spanish restaurants.
Deserts: we tried 2 chocolate desserts: Merengue de Avellana and Bizcocho deGanache. The first one has a super hard bottom layer which is hard to scoop even with spoon. The 2nd one tastes better. But $12-14 is over priced for the the taste.
I booked this restaurant for my boss and his wife for Valentine’s Day. They loved it!
Our Valentine's Day dinner at Can Font was absolutely lovely. The squid ink paella was superb, and the desserts were also very delicious. The staff were all very nice and friendly, especially the gentleman that greeted us, brought us to our table, and took our coats. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience. The only way our dining experience could have been improved is if complimentary bread had been provided before/during our meal, as it would have paired really well with both the appetizer (olives) and the entree (squid ink paella) that we had ordered.
An adventure in flavor profiles. Definitely worth trying anything that interests you on the menu. We only ordered off the tapas menu, and some of the dishes were outstanding, some were good and some were okay. Excellent service, sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere. The drinks were all very good, the dessert was excellent.
Best portland meal!
Fun tapas menu with many great choices and excellent flavor combinations!
Excellent meal with amazing service. Make a point of visiting this restaurant!
Great ambiance and service and prices you would expect ($40/person for 5 of us, w 1 bottle of wine). The tapas were good, especially the beet salad and octopus, and presented like art. And the wine -- all are Spanish so we had to totally rely on our waiter -- was delicious. Were were disappointed with the paella though. We ordered the one with clam, mussels, and scallops (no squid ink) and it was just OK. Would have liked to have some veggies in it and a little more pizzazz, especially for $30 per person and minimum order of two. (Our group of five was talked into ordering three and wished we had only ordered two.) Very nice experience overall though.
A bit pricey for the $$ given the local competition...esp the wine by the glass
The octopus with truffle potatoes was to die for. It certainly was the best I have ever had. The two seafood dishes were also excellent. I WILL be back.
Beautiful ambiance! Amazing food! And amazing service. Can't wait to return!
I am guessing this might be a newer restaurant because they might have a few kinks to work out. The hostess was a little confusing about our seating, but did compensate us with some lovely cava. Waitstaff was top notch and we really enjoyed the garlicky papas bravas appetizer and the Nutella dessert. The paella was a trifle soggy but had a tasty amount of seafood in it. Very cool space with a vibrant atmosphere (plus very clean restrooms!) We will be back after a few months I think.
Wonderful experience for our party of 6 at Can Font. The food was impeccable. We especially liked the Jamon y Pan Con Tomate, and the Viera Y Pulpo (silky and delicious octopus with truffled pureed potatoes), and the squid ink paella. The staff was so hospitable and lovely, we felt cared for and unrushed. Highly recommend!
Another great meal served up by a fabulous restaurant!
Excellent food, great service, very nice decor. We really enjoyed the dining experience!
This place has a great vibe. Welcoming and inviting, but also cozy. The service was attentive without being over the top. All of the seafood dishes are outstanding. The potato based dishes were good, not great. Good wine list. Spendy but worth it.
Date night with my husband and this is now one of our favorite (if not our favorite) restaurants. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic.
Love their food, love their service, love the ambiance! We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday there. Wish there were more choices on the menu so we can try new things...
Excellent dinner! We elected for 5 Tapas + dessert for our dinner for 2 and did not order any entrees. It was perfect. Nice flavor varieties and the server did a great job pacing the meal out into 6 courses. The octopus/scallop dish, the beets, and the patatas were our favorites. Would be great to go with a larger group so ordering the paella (which can only be ordered as a 2-person serving) could be a part of the meal rather than the whole meal! Definitely more upscale-looking interior than your typical Portland restaurant but the atmosphere was very casual. Enjoyed our experience and will certainly go again.
Exceptional paella! Very accommodating staff!
Good tapas in the northeastern (Catalonian) style. Recommended.
The staff was really great. We tried the Negev Paella this time, it was a bit too salty for our taste but we were told about the saltiness ahead of time.
Food was amazing, ambiance was great, our server was spectacular. What more could you want?
One of our go to restaurants. It never disappoints.
Such a great meal! My family visited for the holidays and we are out A LOT. The group all said they enjoyed dinner at Can Font the most. The paella, especially the seafood paella negra, was incredible!
Me and a small group recently dined at Can Font.... we are all paella fans and were so looking forward to the evening. The online menu indicated the selections had a minimum of two orders which we were prepared for as we were planning on serving family style between us, but when we were preparing to order they let us know that during their slower periods (usually weekdays) they are able to make individual orders, so that was nice to accommodate even though we did not take advantage of the offer and ordered two of the four choices for with servings for everyone. We started with a couple appetizers (definitely try the Bambas!).... We did feel the server "guided" us a bit astray suggesting we have 3 apps along with our dinner... it would have been way too much food (not sure if she was just trying to pad the bill. While the paella tasted good, we did feel the amount of meat in the dishes was a bit light (particularly for the price). At $26/$28 per person it was probably about $5 per person more than it should have been for what it was. We did have a crème brulee for dessert which was OK, not special... but then again, it's just custard. The rest of the dessert offerings was rather uninteresting. Overall we had a nice time - food and company combined, and will likely come again... but really the food/price balance on it's own does have some room for improvement.
First time at Can Font. Food and wine were excellent but the lack of service staff greatly impacted the overall dining experience. If I could infer from the apologies from the host, they were understaffed for a Saturday night. Don't mind waiting but it was a bit more than one would expect for a reasonable wait/delay in service and delivery. This was evident when there were several tables still empty and service efficiency was not improved and this was around 8:30-9PM.
Both the food and service were amazing. Our waitress even recommended a really cool bar nearby for us to go to after dinner. Wonderful experience!
Food is delicious and staff are great! My favorite are the steaks!
Terrific tapas and excellent Paella!
Family home for Thanksgiving and have wanted to go to Can Font. It was perfect! Food was great, noise level was not bad so we could have conversations without yelling. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in PDX!
Several misses with the service including missing flatware. Chairs that will keep the chiropractors of Portland busy for years to come. The food was fine but in no way inspired or special.
Fantastic food and drinks! My friends and I have been back many times just for the Paella Negra alone. Squid ink isn't a terribly familiar ingredient for many American eaters, but is well worth checking out.
We were celebrating my friend birthday and they made it very special! Thanks so much for the amazing service. And the paella negra was amazing!
Nice little boutique Spanish restaurant with some of the best PAELLA we have had in quite a while. Good fresh fish and proper rice and many nice appetizers
Definitely a must restaurant
Like to have seen California wines on the wine list but they do have a small corkage if U wish to bring your own which we did.
Friendly service and would definitely go back and visit for another delicious meal.
