Terrific tapas and excellent Paella!
Family home for Thanksgiving and have wanted to go to Can Font. It was perfect! Food was great, noise level was not bad so we could have conversations without yelling. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in PDX!
Several misses with the service including missing flatware. Chairs that will keep the chiropractors of Portland busy for years to come. The food was fine but in no way inspired or special.
Fantastic food and drinks! My friends and I have been back many times just for the Paella Negra alone. Squid ink isn't a terribly familiar ingredient for many American eaters, but is well worth checking out.
We were celebrating my friend birthday and they made it very special! Thanks so much for the amazing service. And the paella negra was amazing!
Nice little boutique Spanish restaurant with some of the best PAELLA we have had in quite a while. Good fresh fish and proper rice and many nice appetizers
Definitely a must restaurant
Like to have seen California wines on the wine list but they do have a small corkage if U wish to bring your own which we did.
Friendly service and would definitely go back and visit for another delicious meal.
The dinner was lovely. We started with the bread and tomato appetizer then shared the black ink paella ( five stars). Between four of us we ordered the flan, the chocolate dessert and the ice cream with caramel. The chocolate dessert was the winner. The flan was a disappointment, the lemon flavor didn’t enhance the dessert. Our friend didn’t feel there was enough caramel on her ice cream. We did clean our plates so I give it 4 stars. We would definitely go back!
Not good, when first opened, it was good. Now, the paella is too salty, the duck got no flavor, and ya, its way too pricey. You paying $30 per person for a seafood paella with seafood which is not fresh (stink）and way too salty.
First time. Exceeded all expectations. Every dish we tried was outstanding. You can’t go wrong. The service was excellent. Will go back often.
Very good food. Paella, though very good, not at a 5 star level. Descriptions tempting, execution lacks just slightly. Will go again, nice ambience. Service good
The paella is outstanding! Service was really attentive and friendly.
My husband and I went to Can Font to celebrate our anniversary. We have been before and have had better experiences in the past. Our table wasn’t ready at the time of our reservation. We were sat right next to the hot kitchen. Our waiter kept spilling wine all over our table when pouring it, and they ran out of all but one of the desserts. The food was delicious but the overall dining experience could have been better for the price of our bill.
Matt is an excellent waiter!
I took my wife there for "Date Night" The server was very engaging and the food was fantastic.
Excellent food that is well worth the price.
Friendly and attentive staff. Tasty cocktails. Started with the Pulpo a la Plancha (seared octopus) and the Pan Con Tomate. The octopus was perfectly cooked. The grilled Catalan bread was delicately crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with tomatoes. Then we shared the Paella de Mar y Montaña, which was highly recommended by our server. Great place for dates and conversation over a delicious meal.
Can Font recently got rid of Happy Hour but still advertises that option on their website. Overall, Can Font was still awesome!
Wow. Wow. Wow. We received a gift card as a present to say good bye before our move to Barcelona. Very authentic foods and flavors. Lots of menu choices for all dietary preferences. Service was excellent. Can’t recommend more highly.
Service and food was great
Very attentive staff. Special touches for celebrating anniversary. Excellent food. Wonderful experience
Food was wonderful! Wine - superb! Hailey was great!
Best paella in town. Love the squid ink paella. Service is great. Never had a bad meal. Great for special occasions.
The food was outstanding. I love the space beautifully decorated. Tables not so close that you can’t have a private conversation.
So many choice for paella, we enjoyed both that we tried. Food and service was excellent!
My friend and I had a marvelous time! The food was amazing. Matt was an incredible waiter. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. He made the evening.
Wonderful service & delicious food. The staff was very attentive & even put a candle in my dessert when they found out it was my birthday.
I’ve been to Can Font previously and enjoyed the food, not blown away but good. Food was actually better this time, more consistent. Only knock was that several of the dishes were warm, not hot. Maybe sat at the pass too long?Restaurant wasn’t overly crowded so this shouldn’t have been the reason. Get the food at service hot and would have received a higher score.
The potato bravas and the paella mar y montana was AMAZING! A few tables behind us had the creme brulee but we were too full...next we'll get it for sure!
Server was attentive and knowledgeable, however the kitchen was slow and delivered over cooked seafood and paella that was mush.
This was our first visit to Can Font. We were warmly greeted, seated promptly, and service was excellent. We had a very fresh salad to start, and opted for a bottle of light-bodied Spanish red wine. We ordered the paella de mariscos as our main dish, with fresh fish, shrimp, clams and mussels. Delicious! Highly recommended!!!
Can't beat the food, the ambiance, the drinks and the service at this gem in the Pearl. Our favorite haunt.
I was looking forward to our meal as the restaurant came highly recommended. The croquetas de pollo were delicious. However, I was very disappointed with the paella de mariscos. SO MUCH RICE with very little seafood. I can't remember the last time I've seen such small clams and mussels. The four "langoustines" (aka shrimp) were small and so overcooked to be almost inedible. As was the fish of the day cod. For $56 for two people, I could have made a better meal with more seafood at home for less than half the cost.
I’ve been many times but my friends hadn’t been. I’ve always experienced a great meal and service.
Great ambience .
Stingy portions when comparing to restaurants in Portland that are as high quality ,... Ava genes , toro bravo, tusk...
Paella is totally overpriced ... seafood in it was dry...
Was really disappointed with everything about our experience from the moment we walked in. Nobody was at the front to greet us and show us to our table and we ended up hanging up our own coats and finding our party. Food was subpar. Incredibly stingy portions with the paella. It was all rice and about 4 small bites of cod and 4 tiny shrimps. The waitress was friendly but kept forgetting to check on us. One of the waiters who came out to bring a starter was flat out rude. The only good part about the night was that they remembered to bring a candle on dessert for my moms birthday. The waitress sang happy birthday which was sweet, bless her. But overall: very little value for money and disappointing food especially after reading great reviews and seeing photos of the restaurant. I would not recommend Can Font to a friend.
Food was cold, and it took a long time to clear dirty dishes. And this happened when the restaurant was practically empty!
Amazing food, we tried a lot of the different tapas and every single one was fantastic. Great cocktails, and wine recommendations. Service was fantastic. Will definitely be going again and would highly recommend.
Every aspect of this was stunning - so fantastic to have Catalan cuisine in Portland. It was a truly memorable meal - the flavors provided a fantastic reminder of my last trip to Barcelona. The paella negra is a show stopper.
