A landmark dining destination for over two decades, Chef Srijith Gopinathan continues the legacy of the country’s most renowned chefs who have called Campton Place home. Chef Sri’s sophisticated cooking style combines French classical techniques with local, seasonal ingredients and global flavors, particularly those from South Asia.
Chef Sreejth Gopinath has created one of the best dining experiences in the city! Every course and the many in between are definitely a treat to the palate. I've been here 3 times so far and everyone I've taken has rated it their top 5 restaurants they've ever been to! Look forward to my next time here.
A hidden gem, refreshing and tasty!
Great food and excellent service. By far the best Indian food I have eaten in the US and matches the best I have tasted in India. Very inventive menu and excellent wine parings celebrating California wine month - perfect match with the food.
La comida excelente, el servicio y la atenciónes, al restaurante Le falta más actualización en la decoración y el ambiente.
An elegant setting for a special meal. The food was very well prepared and the presentation was outstanding. The menu was able to accommodate our diverse group. Highly recommended.
Campton Place was very tasty and an extremely enjoyable brunch. We did the brunch but after trying it we now would like to come back and try there dinner service.
The French toast was AMAZING! Best french toast have ever tried. And there main entries were both great.
Also great service and we got a few extra goodies from the kitchen as complements for us celebrating our anniversary.
Very enjoyable and would recommend.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Campton Place. The whimsical tasting bites were unexpected, fun, and thoughtfully composed. I always love a menu with limited choices so it’s easier to pick , and you certainly cannot go wrong with anything on this carefully curated menu. I loved every minute of my experience and service was impeccable !
This restaurant has the most outstanding service I have ever had in any restaurant! The dining room is beautiful!
Almost 13 years in SF and I'd never been to Campton Place. Was worried it would be kind of tired. It wasn't. The food was delicious, adventurous, and impeccably prepared. Staff was informative, helpful, and kind. The restaurant itself is a bit stodgy, but it's clean and nicely lit.
On our recent visit to San Francisco we had a magical meal at Campton Place. We got the 4 course tasting menu plus the truffle naan and wine tasting. We are vegetarian and they had choices for us in every course plus several amuse bouches. Each and every dish was special and inventive and fun; it was obvious that the chef enjoys his work. The waiter was helpful, friendly and attentive and the restaurant was just the right amount of quiet and lovely.
Second visit to this restaurant in Union Square. Food beautifully presented and overall very good. Wine matches perfect. The one little criticism was of the four course menu the third which was the meat - There was not a balanced choice. Lamb, duck, wagyu beef and vegetarian. I would have preferred a white meat or fish to have had in the choices. We enjoy the privacy of the way to tables are set up- not too close to other diners compared to some restaurants where your every word can be heard.
Consistently excellent with a creative flair. Love the fresh and delicious Cal-Indian flavors . Great for entertaining, business, special occasion or just eating out.
The brunch is superb- try the little vada “doughnuts,” lobster roll or heavenly French toast.
Campton Place is consistently excellent! Great place for a business lunch.
Great food and great presentation.
Its worth it for a special occasion .
51 st wedding anniversary
(Re) Set our standard by which any tasting menu with wine pairing will be judged, anywhere in the world.
It was a fabulous dinner all the way through! Service and food were both impeccable. Chef made accommodations for some dietary restrictions of one of our party guests. Well worth it!
The food was above and beyond our expectations. Service was a 10! We love this restaurant and highly recommend it.
Phenomenal food and service. What a great way to finish our San Francisco trip.
It is simply Wonderful and excellent. Anybody can enjoy the dinner there.
Favorite restaurant in SF. Worth every penny, especially if you are a wine lover.
unimpressive... 4 tables (including our party of 3) in the restaurant during our dining experience and the service was slow and they made very little effort to be personable or make our experience special. The cuisine was interesting but not amazing. We dined at Quince the night before and had an AMAZING dining experience there with the same $1400 price tag. We were disappointed by our experience here at Campton Place.
Always and excellent meal and personal service at Campton Place. Would highly recommend this as a unique, though costly, experience.
We went to this place to celebrate a very special occasion. Me and wife had the best dinner of our lifetime. Starting from hospitality, serving of food, presentation, quality and tastiness. Every dish felt like specially crafted and designed to bless our taste buds. One of the best Michelin starred date restaurant I would suggest my friends and family. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The food was really great and the service was very fantastic
This was a very exceptional experience. The chef is a master. All of the dishes were delicious and extremely interesting. I enjoyed it immensely. The only downside was that open table rated at $50 or more. So I was a little surprised to see a fixed four course Price at $129 per person. I believe it turned out to be worth it but Be prepared for the bill. The chef is truly talented. The service was exquisite.
Highly recommend Taj Campton for a unique and fun experience with food and wine. The subtle Indian spices were very well done. Presentation of each dish was done to perfection. This was a three hour adventure that I would do again and recommend to anyone that enjoys indulging themselves.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday and he was very happy with our choice of restaurant. Really enjoyed the food as well as the service . Will definitely go back !
excellent service, very tasty food. Ambience can be made better, it is very old school kinds. But food and service were very good.
A very special meal. New flavors presented/plated in delightful ways.
Many extras with complements from the chef.
Subtle Indian food.
Food was good but not on par with other Michelin restaurants at the same price. A couple of items were too salty. The ceiling light over my side of the table was out so I couldnt really see my dishes very well.
The service was very very good though.
Good food and elegant service at a quiet place. We celebrated our anniversary and it was well worth it.
Great Experience and great Food, i will definitely be returning and reccomending
While not an inexpensive experience, this was an outstanding experience. Starting with drinks in the gorgeous bar with polite and professional staff tipped us off that this would not be a normal fancy dinner. We moved into the dining room and our choices of menus were well explained. Every single waiter was so professional and not at all pompous. One amazing course after another was artfully presented and carefully explained. Every dish was beautiful and delicious. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and looked at the price not just as a meal, but the equivalent to going to a show. If I ever get to SF again, I would definitely go back to Campton Place.
Second time while in business. And Campton never disappoints. The food and service is incredible!!!
Inventive takes on classic Indian dishes with a haute cuisine twist. Everything was impeccable from the caviar amuse bouche to the mini samosas to the halibut in a curry broth to the lamb main course. Best Prix Fixe meal I've had in a long time
Beautiful meal, excellent food, and a total sleeper in the SF food scene. A small space for 2 Michelin stars in a small hotel lobby, but big things are happening in there—an excellent meal with thoughtfully paired wines and classic French service. In a world of $300+ tasting menus, Campton Place is a pretty good value.
Always one of the very best restaurants in SF, Campton Place imaginatively fuses local ingredients with Indian flavors and European style to create a total experience. We have been dining here for decades and have been delighted by all the great chefs who have passed through. But we are so lucky to now have Srijith Gopinathan - he keeps the best traditions alive while bringing a new level of brilliance to the kitchen.
Campton Place has never disappointed us and the guests we've taken with us. The food experience is one of the best I've experienced engaging the taste buds with its taste, textures and aesthetics. I would highly recommend it. I had great vegetarian choices.
