A landmark dining destination for over two decades, Chef Srijith Gopinathan continues the legacy of the country’s most renowned chefs who have called Campton Place home. Chef Sri’s sophisticated cooking style combines French classical techniques with local, seasonal ingredients and global flavors, particularly those from South Asia.
Second visit to this restaurant in Union Square. Food beautifully presented and overall very good. Wine matches perfect. The one little criticism was of the four course menu the third which was the meat - There was not a balanced choice. Lamb, duck, wagyu beef and vegetarian. I would have preferred a white meat or fish to have had in the choices. We enjoy the privacy of the way to tables are set up- not too close to other diners compared to some restaurants where your every word can be heard.
Campton Place is consistently excellent! Great place for a business lunch.
Great food and great presentation.
Its worth it for a special occasion .
51 st wedding anniversary
(Re) Set our standard by which any tasting menu with wine pairing will be judged, anywhere in the world.
It was a fabulous dinner all the way through! Service and food were both impeccable. Chef made accommodations for some dietary restrictions of one of our party guests. Well worth it!
The food was above and beyond our expectations. Service was a 10! We love this restaurant and highly recommend it.
Phenomenal food and service. What a great way to finish our San Francisco trip.
It is simply Wonderful and excellent. Anybody can enjoy the dinner there.
Favorite restaurant in SF. Worth every penny, especially if you are a wine lover.
unimpressive... 4 tables (including our party of 3) in the restaurant during our dining experience and the service was slow and they made very little effort to be personable or make our experience special. The cuisine was interesting but not amazing. We dined at Quince the night before and had an AMAZING dining experience there with the same $1400 price tag. We were disappointed by our experience here at Campton Place.
Always and excellent meal and personal service at Campton Place. Would highly recommend this as a unique, though costly, experience.
We went to this place to celebrate a very special occasion. Me and wife had the best dinner of our lifetime. Starting from hospitality, serving of food, presentation, quality and tastiness. Every dish felt like specially crafted and designed to bless our taste buds. One of the best Michelin starred date restaurant I would suggest my friends and family. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The food was really great and the service was very fantastic
This was a very exceptional experience. The chef is a master. All of the dishes were delicious and extremely interesting. I enjoyed it immensely. The only downside was that open table rated at $50 or more. So I was a little surprised to see a fixed four course Price at $129 per person. I believe it turned out to be worth it but Be prepared for the bill. The chef is truly talented. The service was exquisite.
Highly recommend Taj Campton for a unique and fun experience with food and wine. The subtle Indian spices were very well done. Presentation of each dish was done to perfection. This was a three hour adventure that I would do again and recommend to anyone that enjoys indulging themselves.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday and he was very happy with our choice of restaurant. Really enjoyed the food as well as the service . Will definitely go back !
excellent service, very tasty food. Ambience can be made better, it is very old school kinds. But food and service were very good.
A very special meal. New flavors presented/plated in delightful ways.
Many extras with complements from the chef.
Subtle Indian food.
Food was good but not on par with other Michelin restaurants at the same price. A couple of items were too salty. The ceiling light over my side of the table was out so I couldnt really see my dishes very well.
The service was very very good though.
Good food and elegant service at a quiet place. We celebrated our anniversary and it was well worth it.
Great Experience and great Food, i will definitely be returning and reccomending
While not an inexpensive experience, this was an outstanding experience. Starting with drinks in the gorgeous bar with polite and professional staff tipped us off that this would not be a normal fancy dinner. We moved into the dining room and our choices of menus were well explained. Every single waiter was so professional and not at all pompous. One amazing course after another was artfully presented and carefully explained. Every dish was beautiful and delicious. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and looked at the price not just as a meal, but the equivalent to going to a show. If I ever get to SF again, I would definitely go back to Campton Place.
Second time while in business. And Campton never disappoints. The food and service is incredible!!!
Inventive takes on classic Indian dishes with a haute cuisine twist. Everything was impeccable from the caviar amuse bouche to the mini samosas to the halibut in a curry broth to the lamb main course. Best Prix Fixe meal I've had in a long time
Beautiful meal, excellent food, and a total sleeper in the SF food scene. A small space for 2 Michelin stars in a small hotel lobby, but big things are happening in there—an excellent meal with thoughtfully paired wines and classic French service. In a world of $300+ tasting menus, Campton Place is a pretty good value.
Campton Place has never disappointed us and the guests we've taken with us. The food experience is one of the best I've experienced engaging the taste buds with its taste, textures and aesthetics. I would highly recommend it. I had great vegetarian choices.
It was great!
The experience and food just flow together. Thought only one hour has passed but two hours actually passed. Had a great time. Would come back again!
Amazing. Great food and great people. They explained everything.
great food , wine menu, service, quiet, comfort. A nationally competitive high end restaurant.
Fantastic dinner at Campton Place. The combination of Indian flavors with the local California bounty in terms of produce and proteins is a winner. The dishes I tried were each executed with perfection, with stunningly beautiful presentations and flavors. Had the four course tasting menu with spice pot, halibut, duck, and dessert. Each dish was delicious, unique, and fun. Better halibut and duck breast probably don't exist. Also had the wine pairings, which complemented each dish well. Service was of the highest standard. Highly recommended for foodies and those celebrating special occasions.
Went there for anniversary. Overall I would say it’s a good experience. Food is mainly Indian style and delicious. It’s surprising that they gave us a anniversary cake at the end. Would recommend it if you have not been there before.
Totally deserves the 2 star Michelin rating. Couldn't even tell it was Indian food except for the theme.
We selected Spice Route menu to experience South Asian inspired dishes. Each course was beautifully presented & spices were exciting. However, about halfway though, I found saltiness to start lingering. Combined with the spices, the overall flavor became a bit too much for me. I suppose I prefer something more subtle.
We liked the tables generously spaced apart. The service was impeccable. This is an adult space & good for a special occasion. We'll try the 4 Course menu next time just to see if we want to keep this on our list of restaurants.
Brought my husband here for birthday dinner. The food was exquisite, service impeccable and just a wonderful experience overall.
This restaurant was by far one of the best I have been to. I have travelled with my partner to many Michelin Star restaurants, and the experience here was absolutely amazing from the moment we stepped in the door to when we stepped out. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic, the delivery of the food was exciting and professional and the staff were amazing, kind, and considerate. I cannot wait to go back next time I am in San Fran!
Staff was impeccable, very professional. Dinner was delicious. Price was reasonable for what was offered.
We had a wonderful anniversary celebration dinner at Campton Place. The service was fantastic but not intrusive. Food was creative and delicious. Excellent value for the price point. Well deserved Michelin star recognition.
