A landmark dining destination for over two decades, Chef Srijith Gopinathan continues the legacy of the country’s most renowned chefs who have called Campton Place home. Chef Sri’s sophisticated cooking style combines French classical techniques with local, seasonal ingredients and global flavors, particularly those from South Asia.
Worth the money! The service was impeccable and the food hit the spot!
The food was inventive without being crazy. And the Indian flavors were beautiful and created a great theme. Wine pairings were very good. Can't wait to go back.
Special occasion treat to my in-laws. They had never experienced a tasting menu before and were visiting from India. It was their anniversary. They had a blast being pampered by the top-notch accommodating service and seeing the beautiful presentations with various flavors in the food, while still balancing the "Indian". The Cal-Indian was very much appreciated. Farm-to-table fresh and unique, but Indian flavors, without being an Indian meal.
The in-laws both did the veg spice route tasting menu, with 6 courses, which ended up being like 10 (with all the in-between dishes) and LOVED it. My husband and I took the Spice Route (regular, including non-veg- which happened to be focused on seafood and poultry during this visit, just the way I like it!) We both also loved our meals. I did get the impression the veg tasting menu was marginally "heavier" than the non-veg, especially because ours contained bass and scallops vs. jackfruit kabobs and cashew coconut curries etc.
We were also wowed by the desserts. It continues to amaze me that Campton does not have a separate pastry chef but churns out premiere desserts and chocolates. Having been to other Michelin star restaurants and tried other tasting menus, those hold their place, in this, holds its own. Definitely worth at least one visit despite the pricey side. Treat yourself. Cheers.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was! The food was inspired and delectable! We had the yoghurt croquettes, naan rolls, shishito peppers, string hopper and one other dish that was lovely. We could not get a dinner reservation, so we had lunch, which was divine. I have to add that we had dinner the night before, at a three star Michelin restaurant, and this lunch blew the doors off of that dinner!
A bit overpriced, but the food was excellent. Small portions, so you also need to make sure you get plenty of courses. The service was also very slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. That being said, I would come here again.
Our dinner there was happenstance because we were staying at the Hyatt across the street and we managed to snag a reservation at 9 pm. What luck and what a meal. The Indian inspired flavors were incredible. Such a delicate, interesting, lovely use of spices. Try the spice pot and the lamb. I will remember them forever.
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had. A fantastic variety of tastes with portions small enough not to overstuff, but in a number enough to keep one satisfied and excited with anticipation as to what will come next.
Excellent and creative menu, presenting modern South Indian flavors in eclectic dishes.
Although I didn't know of the pre fixe Cal-Indian cuisine, I was delightfully surprised by its flavors, textures and sensibilities
We had the 6course spice route, liked the food and presentation - it was very good; wine pairing though was underwhelming, imo didn’t do that much to enhance the experience; in general imo it’s difficult to do good wine pairings for Indian and specially South Indian food... still was worth trying but Not worth spending $300+ on it... for that lazy bear is my favorite!
The chef has such a unique and exciting approach to food. The mixture of flavors and textures, it was a different experience with each dish. The green apple, avocado, and arugula mousse was unforgettable. Everything was a delight and the staff was very pleasant and attentive.
I really wanted to like this place. We went there for a special anniversary and it was good but not outstanding. For the amount we paid $$$$$$$ it should have 5 stars. It is completely over priced. I couldn't even eat the desert because it didn't taste great. Very disappointing.
I loved the place, the service and the food, presentation outstanding, and it worths its stars!
Great flavors in a lovely setting. Will definitely return.
Dinner was spectacularly delicious and creative. The service was superlative.
We just finished having dinner here tonight! This place surpassed my expectations on all levels. Ambiance, hospitality, service, food quality and cocktails were all A+. We did the 4 coarse prefixed menu where we get to choose each course. We enjoyed the poached lobster, halibut, and absolutely loved the Spice Pot and Truffle Naan! They surprised us w a couple of different bite-sized starters that were so flavorful and creatively made. Ian, our waiter was great and took really good care of us. I ordered the duck and didn’t like it and they immediately offered to bring out something else in its place. I instead ordered the lamb which was prepared just right. The dessert did not disappoint either. Highly recommend this place!!
Just wonderful. e
If you truly want food that makes your mouth melt this is the place
One of the best restaurants in SF. The food is phenomenal, it’s pricey but worth it. The decor could use an update but can overlook that easily.
Outstanding service and amazing food
Fabulous sophisticated food
For your special evening this is a must do, expensive yes but worth every cent.
The food was outstanding, the Service exemplary and the attention to detail in how each course was plated and served was wonderful.
We ordered from the four course menu but with the extra tasting items provided we had a substantial meal and left Campton Place well satisfied.
Many thanks to both the Kitchen and Front of House staff for a wonderful evening.
Unbelievably good! Quiet and elegant. The smaller menu was enough food plus they gave some extras.
Incredible food and service
Second time there and am still impressed by the amazing food!
Never disappoints. Delicious. Beautiful. Wonderful setting for Sunday brunch. Worth the drive from Milpitas. We're hoping to get back for dinner very soon.
Truly amazing experience start to finish. Flawless food and exceptional flavors. This chef is the real deal. Do NOT pass up an opportunity to dine here. The staff is fantastic and accommodating, the sommelier Patrick is great.
We met the chef and he is the nicest, most personable chef out there to be running the helm of such a fine establishment.
A well deserved and earned 2 stars. He rivals 3 stars I have eaten honestly.
Thank you for a memorable evening, we will most assuredly be back!
Chef Sreejth Gopinath has created one of the best dining experiences in the city! Every course and the many in between are definitely a treat to the palate. I've been here 3 times so far and everyone I've taken has rated it their top 5 restaurants they've ever been to! Look forward to my next time here.
A hidden gem, refreshing and tasty!
Great food and excellent service. By far the best Indian food I have eaten in the US and matches the best I have tasted in India. Very inventive menu and excellent wine parings celebrating California wine month - perfect match with the food.
La comida excelente, el servicio y la atenciónes, al restaurante Le falta más actualización en la decoración y el ambiente.
An elegant setting for a special meal. The food was very well prepared and the presentation was outstanding. The menu was able to accommodate our diverse group. Highly recommended.
Campton Place was very tasty and an extremely enjoyable brunch. We did the brunch but after trying it we now would like to come back and try there dinner service.
The French toast was AMAZING! Best french toast have ever tried. And there main entries were both great.
Also great service and we got a few extra goodies from the kitchen as complements for us celebrating our anniversary.
Very enjoyable and would recommend.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Campton Place. The whimsical tasting bites were unexpected, fun, and thoughtfully composed. I always love a menu with limited choices so it’s easier to pick , and you certainly cannot go wrong with anything on this carefully curated menu. I loved every minute of my experience and service was impeccable !
This restaurant has the most outstanding service I have ever had in any restaurant! The dining room is beautiful!
Almost 13 years in SF and I'd never been to Campton Place. Was worried it would be kind of tired. It wasn't. The food was delicious, adventurous, and impeccably prepared. Staff was informative, helpful, and kind. The restaurant itself is a bit stodgy, but it's clean and nicely lit.
On our recent visit to San Francisco we had a magical meal at Campton Place. We got the 4 course tasting menu plus the truffle naan and wine tasting. We are vegetarian and they had choices for us in every course plus several amuse bouches. Each and every dish was special and inventive and fun; it was obvious that the chef enjoys his work. The waiter was helpful, friendly and attentive and the restaurant was just the right amount of quiet and lovely.
Second visit to this restaurant in Union Square. Food beautifully presented and overall very good. Wine matches perfect. The one little criticism was of the four course menu the third which was the meat - There was not a balanced choice. Lamb, duck, wagyu beef and vegetarian. I would have preferred a white meat or fish to have had in the choices. We enjoy the privacy of the way to tables are set up- not too close to other diners compared to some restaurants where your every word can be heard.
Consistently excellent with a creative flair. Love the fresh and delicious Cal-Indian flavors . Great for entertaining, business, special occasion or just eating out.
The brunch is superb- try the little vada “doughnuts,” lobster roll or heavenly French toast.
