Campo is a neighborhood restaurant. We treat others as we wish to be treated. We have respect for our products, our people, our guests and our community. A desire to bring people together. Enter, Campo, a place for people who love food and want a beautiful, comfortable place to gather.
“Good food and good drinks are a given. We’re in the business of making people happy.”
Highlighting local ingredients from farms and ranches across the region, Campo creates a culture centered around authenticity.
From Napoletana-style pizza fired in Campo’s wood burning oven, to farm-fresh produce, handmade pasta and house-made salumi, Campo is, in every aspect, a community kitchen.
This was our first visit to Campo Sparks. Overall it was good, particularly the food. The service was fine until the end of the meal. Our server asked if we wanted dessert before we were done eating. She also cleared the plates, including mine which I was still working on, while one of our party was still eating. She even brought the check before he was finished. I may have wanted dessert or coffee, but feel it would have been impolite to order before everyone at the table finished their meals. This was a Saturday lunchtime so it wasn’t even as if people were waiting for tables. I live in Europe where one is never rushed, so maybe I am being overly critical, but it bothered me, and makes it unlikely that I’d go to Campo again.
We have been to Campo Sparks several times over the past couple of years. Each time, I keep hoping that it will be a better experience. However, I remain disappointed. Each time, it’s nothing horrendous, but just enough to make you wish that you had gone elsewhere.
This time, we recommended Campo Sparks to friends for dinner. It was interesting that both we – and they-checked on the website for the menu to do a little advance preparation for ordering. Both of us realize, however, that the actual menu once we got to the restaurant was a bit different. No big deal. After we ordered, our friend received a cup of minestrone soup which was just lukewarm. He tried to hail a server-ours was missing in action, although she had been very attentive in the beginning - to tell her about the soup. He finally succeeded in getting someone’s attention, who brought him another cup of soup –but it, also, was just warm – not hot. When it last art server return to our table, she promptly got him a cup of hot soup. For six dollars, however, we were both disappointed in the serving size (I ordered a cup of the same soup for myself) even though my soup, when delivered, was actually hot as it should be.
I ended up ordering several different things off the menu – although the spaghetti immediately caught my attention. I didn’t order it, because, once you completed the dish with meatballs, it was $20 - A bit high for spaghetti and meatballs, anywhere outside of Wolfgang Puck‘s.
Every time we have arrived at the restaurant-including the first time we went there, when the host told us that they had no record of our reservation-even though my wife had confirmed that same day-the host at the front has been less than energetic and cheerful. This may be our last visit.
I want to start by saying we love the Campo in Reno and have been going there for years. However that was not our experience at the barks Campo
Food was not all bad, it actually had some bright spots. However the service was abysmal. On a Saturday night the restaurant was nearly empty but nearly every aspect of the meal took significantly longer than it should have. The worst part was the 20 plus minutes for desert that resulted in our canceling of the desert just so we can get out of the restaurant. We should have realized that it was empty on a Saturday night for a reason all. There were multiple tables around us that were also complaining about the service and/or poor food quality.
I would recommend avoiding this place but honestly I can't imagine it's going to be open all that much longer.
Our waitress I think Bree was Great!!! I slipped in to tell someone it was my daughters birthday and the wait staff were gathered in what appeared to be a meeting. I spoke with a hostess at the entrance who acted excited and I asked her to tell our waitress thinking they would do something.
It was never acknowledged!! And it was disappointing!! We went there to celebrate her!! We ate outside and it was very nice!! The busboys were awesome!
Great food, farm to table, at decent prices. My dad got the chicken Parmesan and it was a huge plate, my son got the fettuccini Alfredo and he loved it, my mom got the trio appetizer and it was enough food for her, the rest of us got the campo burger cooked to perfection. Service has really improved at this location and my husband got a free des7for his birthday.
Unfortunately it was the worst dining disappointment I have ever had. I have always enjoined the downtown location and thought the Sparks location would be similar. However, even with a reservation, we waiting over 10 minutes for our table. 4 out of 7 of our party waited an hour and a half for their food. Thank goodness my diabetic mother got her dinner! The rest of us waited over 2 hours. When we got up to leave they said it was ready and they would box it for us. That took another 10 minutes. They charged us for all of the food only taking off 10% of the bill! That is NOT the way to take care of customers!
Keep going back because I really want to give a local restaurant the business. We had a really good server and because of that we're marking everything is fair but one person can't do everything. The margarita was fabulous but it literally took 20 minutes to get it and the bar wasn't even busy. The Host was not personable we had eaten our appetizers before he brought us water. Literally the server saved our dinner everything else was a huge disappointment and I just don't see how this place is going to stay in business if it doesn't step up it's customer service.
The food and service was very good. Our server had a very bubbly and friendly attitude. With a little more experience she will be excellent. We had the Chef’s tasting menu. The food was very good. The best dish was the peach bruschetta. I would eat that for every meal every day and I hate peaches. The rest of the meal was okay to good. I would definitely go back.
We were there for a birthday dinner for my wife. They sat us in the bar area when they had room in what I would describe as the actual restaurant. No refills not even once asked. We were not even approached by our server for drinks for a very long time. The food was ok. Steak was a little too fatty. No happy birthday song. The menus are filthy and stained. We were actually able to decide what to eat before they even brought us water because it took so long to get them to approach us. The water container was covered in spots , I did not drink any of it.
I understand being short staffed, especially down a chef. I have worked in the food industry. There are ways to handle it.
My son could not wait to come to campo for his birthday to get the same dish he had just 1 month prior. It looked and tasted nothing like before. Why? Bc the chef was out. Also why was out food hard? Bc the chef was out. I don’t ever write reviews unless it’s good, but this was awful and it took 2.5 hours from start to finish. I will not go back.
The restaurant was closed at 11:30. No note on door no email about a problem. Mom’s 94th birthday brunch. All doors licked. Love you guys notmally but this was bad.
The food was okay, but had some problems. The ambiance wasn’t great, it was either a sports bar or shelves of wine. The wait staff stand was right up against our table so they were always with us. Then the sun was setting through the window and glaring off the table and another patron finally got up and put the window shade down. All in all, I wouldn’t mind going for drinks and apps with friends, but it wasn’t good for a special occasion.
Overall horrible experience there.... even the manager was awful!!!! I will never come back again
Making a reservation seemed to help. The last time we tried to come, we waited 45 minutes and the host staff kept walking by us at the bar table without saying anything, no updates, no eye contact, no nothing... and nobody from the bar came over to take a drinks order. That was in early April 2019.
We were here on Valentine's Day without a reservation and everything was fabulous, so I think there may have been some glitches in service in the meantime.
This time, everything was great.
I do think that the sweet/spicy sauce on the "house bacon" (not sure the name, it's on the appetizers list) is not quite the right flavor for a pork belly. A bit heavy and the 2 times I've had it somehow it doesn't work.
Otherwise, the only thing I'd caution the restaurant about is the kitchen staff being a bit more aware of Gluten Free requests - for example, we ordered the cauliflower appetizer without croutons since we both react ridiculously to gluten, and while it came without croutons, I did find some bits of croutons in the oily sauce. For someone who is celiac, this could be devastating.
Otherwise, the food choices are great, especially for Sparks hahahaha, and I appreciate the sparkling water choice for water and service and food has been great the 2 times I've been there.
The waitress was gone for at least 1/2 hour outside chatting while our drinks ran empty. The menu was dirty and stained. The website menu was not the same one they offered . The food took an hour to come out and it was not that busy at all.
Food and service were very good. The seats were horribly uncomfortable however. Otherwise nice dinner out.
We’ve gone for Easter Sunday three years in a row now and it had been excellent until now. The food was simply not good and the service very slow.
We’d planned on doing the special menu for Easter, but foolishly didn’t check ahead what it would be. It had a ham option the last couple years and we assumed it would again, this was disappointing, but an error on our part.
So we ordered normal meals. Chicken parmigiana, and a couple pasta dishes. The pasta dishes were very bland and the fettuccine was watery and flavorless. We got a couple appetizers before hand which were fine, but not great.
We really come for the boudin, but sadly even it was not as good as previously. Prior it has been in a larger serving and better ratios in the layers. This year it had a giant dry layer of cookie crumbs instead of reasonable layers that mix well with the cream and caramel.
I imagine the waiting staff do better at lunch and dinner. During breakfast you get the sense you’re an inconvenience because they’re prepping for future diners. The attention you get is sporadic and slow. The staff are very pleasant, I think they just haven’t received any training.
As others have mentioned, the food was just ok, but the service was fine. We were a group of 8 and were there for brunch, and everyone's food was just ok, nothing special. We had to ask for everything from condiments to salt and pepper. The best part of the meal was the bloody marys, which cost more than the meal!
The ambiance leaves much to be desired, and the chairs are extremely uncomfortable. I don't think I would come here again.
We had another wonderful experience at Canpo. Our party of sixl loved our entrees and our service was spot on! We asked for Madeline; she is absolutely lovely. A wonderful server who remembers us everytime. Our experience was definitely better because of her! We'll be back!
The service was outstanding. The food was ok, the music playing over head was a little too loud. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and fast. I'll definitely be back.
Dinner was salmon. It was good but vegetables were very greasy. Carrots and butternut squash was very greasy, both laid in a lake of oil and grease. I have been there several times for breakfast which was ok but the service was horrible! Coffee was good and food was ok but waiter never available and never would refill coffee or check on needs. This happened consistently each time we went. Stopped going for breakfast. Waiter for dinner was good. He is also sometimes a bartender. He was polite and helped me with the greasy food. Management must not be making sure employees are doing there job. Would come more often if service was better and food not so greasy so it's healthier.
Monday evening dinner for a family of 3. You'd think it'd be on the quieter side, but we assumed wrong. The 2 tables behind us were noisy and vulgar. Only one waitress for the whole restaurant and she was not staying on top of everything (she had 6-7 tables at the most). Not because of being shorthanded on staff- but because she was not attentive and very forgetful. You could see the other tables were getting annoyed waiting on her for something. Some others ended up going over to the bar to talk to her. We had to ask her multiple times for one request. And while waiting for the ONE item we requested, our soup was cold by the time she actually remembered to bring the bread. We soon found out it was all for not. The bread was stale and unedible. It should've been the cue for us to make a quick exit.
After waiting for nearly 90 minutes, our food came out. Luckily my pork chop was cooked 'ok' (a little on the dry side and spicy as hell), the red potatoes were hard, overdone, dry and lacked any type of seasoning. There was a sprig of rosemary which looked more like a burnt twig. I didn't receive the sweet potatoes and I had no intention of asking for them for it after such a horrendously long wait. Hubby's pasta was mush and he didn't eat most of it, which is NOT like him to discard food. My daughter's pasta was not much better.
After we received the check, we asked why it took 2 hours for a simple dinner this evening and the place was not even full (6 or 7 tables at most). The waitress responded they were shorthanded and the kitchen was shorthanded too.
I'd like to know, where is management on this?
Only one other table was occupied but it took forever to get our waitress to come to our table. . She spent a lot of time at the other table chatting and ignored us. When she finally came over she asked if we were ready to order. We had to say can we get some drinks first? She never checked back in. My husbands chicken Parmesan was burnt and we had to go get our own water.
The waitress was so nice, but we were left for long periods of time without assistance starting with our arrival. We were seated and I had to ask for our waiter after waiting over 10minutes. The food was decent but over priced for the proportions. However it seems you are better served at the bar. Same thing happened at our first visit a few months ago.
We had a lovely brunch with a reasonable price.
We were surprised at the reasonable prices for the quality! Great presentation. Great for a small group to have lunch and catch up. We LOVED that there was good music, but that it was low enough that we could have a conversation and hear each other over it. Often restaurants have their music so loud you can’t hear each other. I felt like the waiter was kind of absent. He got our order and brought it out and was very friendly and answered questions, but we sat there most of the time with empty drinks. We got lucky one time and another waiter noticed and asked if we’d like a refill. But after that....
Honestly though, it was a great experience. Thank you!
It was just me, a nice meal and a book. Thank you
A Saturday early evening reservation, Priceless! Had an adventurist evening with a diverse crowd palate. So I thought, "what will we get"? Hey let's try what the "Chef's Choice". Chef Tommy, Thank You for bridging the boundaries of many taste.
Not at this time. It was my favorite place. I wanted my niece to have the same experience but she did lnot. The menu at Campo Sparks did not match the on-line menu so the items we were wanting were not available. The menu stated that the pasta could be served over Fried Polenta, but they don't serve it on this menu as we were told. Of course, there were no specials because it was a Thursday at least that what's we assumed. It took over half an hour to get our deserts. They did discount them, which was very nice of them.
Great food, business friendly atmosphere
This was my second visit, first time for dinner. I was surprised that it wasn't busier on a Friday night. A tad pricey compared to the lunch menu, but worth it. Cool atmosphere, great service, great food and drinks. We'll definitely new back...perfect for date night!
I ordered a large pizza and they brought out a small pizza citing the dough did not stretch. They did charge for small, however. The wait for pizza and dessert was wayyy to long
Food was excellent. Today the service was awesome. Sometimes the service can be a little on the not so good. But today was great.
Beer selection and the BBQ ranch burger with sweet potato fries was amazing!
As a party of eight, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the level if service we were provided. We'll be back!
It has went downhill
I don’t think Campos Sparks is going to survive unless they make some serious improvements fast!!
This was our first visit to Campo in Sparks NV. The restaurant bar was busy for the super bowl but the mail seating area had plenty of room and reasonable noise. The staff was friendly and prompt. The food was not nearly as good as the Reno mid-town location. Every dish didn’t seem as good. Two of us ordered the endless pasta and meatball special. The first serving was great, but the second dish had badly undercooked pasta/spaghetti. The risotto dish was missing something when compared to the Reno mid-town location. The gluten free pizza crust was terrible (tasted like styrofoam). Over all, we were not impressed with the Sparks restaurant.
Nice late lunch with friends, food and service were both great.
We will never return to Campo again. If you have a legitimate medical allergy, they do not take it seriously.
