The entrees are all over priced and not that good. We had a “16” Oz “ steak for $55 and it came with a teaspoon of some whipped potatoes and two slices of tomato. The best value is the kids menu!
Wonderful seasonal food and so creative. I just wish I lived closer so I could go all the time!
Had a wonderful time. The only thing better than the food was the service given by our waitress Claire. Only recommendation would be to broaden the selections of wine by the glass. Keep everything else.
I enjoyed my time there. I went for breakfast very early in the morning so it wasn't packed at all. Our server was amazing and funny. The food! The food was great! I got the migas since our server recommended it and my bf got the biscuits and gravy. Both were great. I would definitely go back and try their dinner!
We were seated for over 20 minutes before anyone came to our table to offer us water, etc. We had 3 waitresses who were not communicating with each other and tried to take our order three different times. Even with that many waitresses, they only came up to our table a total of 6 times (one after 20+ minutes of waiting to bring us water, three times to take our order, once to bring our food out and once to bring us our checks). We got our food after having been there for an hour and 15 minutes. In that hour and 15 minutes our drinks were refilled (only water) only once. There were only 6 other tables seated in the time we were there. Food was fine, but not worth waiting an hour for. We will not being going back.
Very loud. Ok dining room. Food was good, service was good
We were 5 people for a business lunch. Everything was very nice, the food is delicious, affordable and has a touch of experimental - not your usual food, better! When we arrived the table wasn't ready, which I expected since I pre-reserved. Also, the preparation of the food took a while even though the restaurant only had a few people. BUT, those two thing didn't really take away from the rest of the experience. I recommend this restaurant!
Third visit to Campfire. Food is consistently excellent. Servece was great.
We were four people and everybody liked it. We had a great time and we could talk without being bothered by others. A really nice environment and the temperature was perfect; neither hot or too cold, which ruins dinners for me when is too cold. Background music was soft and appropriate. Food was of good quality and portion size reasonable, not giant.
We were celebrating a birthday! We also required special accommodations for our son’s meal prep that were more than met. Very pleased :)
Hemma, thank you for your patience and kindness.
The Carne Asada had zero flavor. Not worth the price at all. The burger was really good. We ordered one of the "special cocktails" but got different drinks instead but was charged for the special cocktail price.
Food & service was outstanding. Braised short rib melts in your mouth!
Everyone agreed dinner was wonderful and desert was above and beyond. Devante is one of the best servers I’ve ever had!
Heirloom tomato toast was delicious--tomatoes paired with goat cheese and sprinkled with sunflower seeds on crunchy toast with a generous side of dressed arugula. The pimento cheese grilled cheese was a bit of a disappointment, and the fries and chips accompanying them were overly salty. And I like my salt!
Lovely physical space and comfortable chairs. Very few people there for a late Saturday lunch, so it was quiet and private--perfect for conversation.
This is third time we have had dinner at Campfire and it has been wonderful every time. The menu changes occasionally and always offers creative dishes that include locally sourced items. Great service and ambiance too. We will definitely be back.
Food was good, but several of the dishes came out cold. Our server was not good - didn't check on us. We had to constantly look for her or ask other servers for help. NONE of the bathrooms had a changing table for our 18 month old! NONE! Not family friendly.
Limited menu but wonderfully prepared. Plain, simple surroundings. Nice view of sunset and fountains on lake. Wine list??? ( not seen nor offered)
Great food at a great price. Management has hired a very courteous hostess and wait staff. Food presentation was nicely done.
Absolutely incredible. Great service and the food was on point. We started with drinks and the charcuterie board and lobster mac n cheese. The wifes Mermaid Mai Tai as well as the apps were great. Entrees were chicken schnitzel and braised short rib. Wife loved her chicken and while not the best short rib Ive had, it was still very enjoyable. Dessert was the Campfire S'mores, their signature dessert, a kind of deconstructed S'more, that was very enjoyable. Server was attentive, music was low enough to converse, temp was perfect. All in sll, we loved it and will return.
Neat place to visit or just an evening out. Enjoyed walking around and the fire pit or campfire!!
I had a coupon for a free appetizer, but all the food we ordered was very tasty. I tried a Sammy cocktail, it also was good and refreshing. Our service was wonderful. A great last minute choice to try for an weekday dinner out.
Making the decision ion to dine at Campfire since we would be coming from Houston, I called the restaurant and was informed there was no special for Mother’s Day and was told the menu was a la charge for that day with entrees ranging from $16 to $18. So, we made the reservations. Arrived yesterday only to find out it was a brunch buffet and the cost was $60 per person!! Needless to say this was out of our price range so we did not stay. I explained all this to the hostess and she volunteered to get the manager but I said thank you but I’m sure he’s not going to reduce the price just for us!!
We visited Campfire for the first time on Sat before Mother's Day. We were disappointed. We had been told that there would be a full menu; there was not (Graduation Night menu). The portions were small for the relatively high price (compared to other local restaurants). The bread was tasteless. The filets were accompanied with one or two (the number varied at the table) gravel sized vegetables. The side of asparagus was good, albeit very thick stalks. The burger was served on a flat wooden platter that was incapable of containing the juices from the burger; they spilled onto the table ('cool' but impractical). Were told the fries were hand cut, they appeared to not be. They were skins on (which is fine). The service was very good and friendly. In fact, the server warned one of our party that the fish entree would be small. He was right.
Menu is limited but Food had good flavor. Suggest you view on line first. Feel as though it has potential. Seems like staff is still learning especially at price point. Setting is fun and aesthetically pleasing. Ordered filet but they were short, so they substituted a NY strip wanna be- the steak was the thinnest NY strip I’ve ever witnessed in Texas or any other contiguous US state. (BTW, the graduate got the Filet and it was perfect). Now that I got that off my chest, overall it was good. Like I said, once they figure it out, it has potential! I’ll go back during football season just to see if they figured it out!
I eat here a few times a mo th, mainly for business lunches. Service is always spot on and very attentive. Food is wonderful and for the most part very reasonably priced. Would recommend this for date night/lunch and for business meetings as well.
I wish your cooks would eat a meal at the republic. Yalls food was pretty but no wow in the taste. You can have carrot soup at the republic and it alone blows your mind. And there steaks melt in your mouth. They need to eat there soon and see what their doing right but everything else was great. I hope y’all succeed!
Campfire is one of our new, favorite places to eat in B/CS. The food is wonderful and the service is excellent. They have a number of delicious cocktails to indulge in, too.
Mediocre. Two of the four entrees ordered by our group were disappointing.
The service and atmosphere were great. The food was average, at best. The food quality was around $10 per plate, not $25 to $30 per plate.
Lunch menu is a lot better than the dinner menu. Service was good but our meals came out on the cold side. Very good Wedge Salad & Deserts but main menu less than Par.
Food is good. Service is very slow. For a party of 2, it took 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon to receive our lunch (burgers).
The waitstaff was attentive. The food was okay but nothing very imaginative. The seasoning could have been better and the potatoes were mediocre. Overall, not a very good value for the money. We spent about $60 apiece and were disappointed in the quality.
We dined on the patio and enjoyed both our meal and the ambience. Will recommend to friends.
Service was very friendly and attentive. Had the fried chicken- delicious! Cheesecake very light. Very enjoyable evening..
fish dish was v. good but small portion (esp. for price), and beef short ribs were well cooked but bland
Food hit and miss. Glad i asked for no sauce on pork chop. It was tasty by itself. Carne asada had odd flavor.
We took a visitor here for dinner. This is the third time we have tried Campfire, and it has been consistently below par. The service was slightly better this round. At least, the server knew a bit about pouring wine. But, the restaurant was only 10% full, and we waited a good 20 minutes until the server finally came back to take our drink order. Sigh. The food is heavy and without flavor. I'm not sure why the kitchen thinks heavy cream and oil constitutes tasty food. The desserts are over the top. They should cut the size to one-third of what they are and sell them for half the price. It is embarfassing how large they are. Too bad, Campfire, the ambience is nice, but the food and service are way below where they should be.
We really wanted to like Campfire more! The setting and atmosphere are amazing and a real treat in College Station. The sunset over the water was beautiful from our table and the grounds around The Stella are so nice.
Unfortunately, there were several things that made the experience less than memorable.
1. Sat down to a dirty fork at my place setting. Not a big deal but it all added up.
2. Server seemed bored and did the minimum.
3. Both entrees had problems: under-seasoned and under-cooked. Had to send the almost raw snapper back. Generally, all the food was mediocre at best.
First the good: food and drinks were amazing, the resturant and bar are gorgeous. Try the Steak Tartare, and a lemon drop cocktail, but be prepared it is expensive.
The not so good: when we were first sat, we waited another 15 mins for someone to just come speak to us, let alone get our drink order, I was pretty sure we were forgotten about. Once the waiter came he was very awkward and made us uncomfortable, when. I asked questions I barely got an answer, just a really weird vibe. I gave the service a 4 star because mid way through our meal our waiter was changed and she was much more attentive and friendly.
Bread had no flavor. Sides came out lukewarm. Portions were ridiculously small for price. Dessert was a huge blob of marshmallow with pieces of graham cracker and chocolate stuck in it.
