Only one waitress that was seating bar tending and taking orders. No water refill or beverage refill. Food was great. Had to wait for check and could no get waitresses attention. May have been a night someone called out? We never have had bad service before here. Hope next time it is different.
somewhat limited menu, but everything we had was very good
Amazing service and exceptional food! The steak was DELICIOUS!!! We also enjoyed the Maple homemade ice cream! Highly recommend!
Service was excellent. Everything was very good. We particularly enjoyed the beet salad with local ricotta. We were there on a school vacation week and the staff to great job accommodating families with children as well as everyone else.
Great menu! Staff was súbete!
Covid times, Very Nice , socially distanced Valentines Night dinner,
We went for a valentines dinner on 2/13 at 6pm. We were seated right next to the entrance, and the restaurant was constantly busy. People in and out only a few feet away from us (less than 6ft for sure) for $65/person plus drinks - portion sizes were small. Usually, we like the food here. But we were extremely disappointed with the selection and busy, crowded ambiance.
Atmosphere does not even hint at what the name implies. One would think you would arrive in a rustic, Adirondack venue.
Service was accommodating, reasonably attentive.
Food was acceptable but portions were a bit too small for an adult dinner at these prices. Dined here twice to see if it was us or them...sorry to say, it was them.
Great food, great service. Enjoyable evening all around.
Great food and service!
Food is good, but extremely over priced
A basket of chip for $9
Two square pieces of pork belly for $14
A square of Brie with one piece of bread for $14
The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and very friendly.
Thank you Jessica! We look forward to having you dine with us again in the future.
Outstanding food, drinks, service & ambience!
Thank you! We are glad you enjoyed your dinner with us Fred. We look forward to seeing you again!
A splash of Manhattan amidst the splendor of an Adirondack snowfall. I keep coming back anytime I'm near Saranac Lake. The chef is talented and creative in bringing local sensibilities to each meal. The restaurant and the Hotel won't disappoint and the staff are all in to make sure you enjoy your time. Best restaurant around, including those you're likely to visit in Lake Placid.
Thank you so much for the positive review! We were so happy to serve you, and will be sure to pass your compliments to the chef and staff. We can't wait to see you again! Best, The Campfire Team
I cannot say enough about this place. The waitstaff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu offers a wide variety of regionally influenced dishes and the quality and value is spot on. Lastly, GREAT cocktails! One of my favorites.
We are all so glad you enjoyed your time with us! The bar team and chefs appreciate your comments greatly. Thank you for the positive feedback, and we look forward to serving you again. Best, The Campfire Team
I had the fried chicken and biscuit. The piece of chicken was very small and not proportional to the 3 biscuits that came on the plate. I would have ordered the burger that is on the standard menu but wasn't listed for the New Years menu. My wife had the filet which was very good and cooked to how it was ordered.
We went to Campfire for Christmas dinner. It was not or crowded which was a plus. Do you ever get the feeling when you sit down that you should leave. Go with your instincts.
First, the service was outstanding. The waiters and servers were extraordinary. What was not good was the food. We ordered from Christmas menu which came with appetizers and a meal plus dessert. The first appetizer was a shrimp cocktail which was not good. Have a strange taste. They were so accommodating and allowed us to return it for fritters. The fritters were frozen and still cold. Next came a NY strip which was not cooked well and enjoyed by our dog. On the other hand, our daughters salmon was quite good.
Finally, we ordered dessert which was cookies and zeppoli. They were very good.
I would say again the service was amazing but the food was not good. I hate to write these reviews but I will say that the Christmas menu was not good. Perhaps, visiting when it is not Christmas may be better.
Hi Joseph, Thank you for the feedback regarding your experience with us on Christmas. Firstly, we apologize that your meal was not up to standard, and will take into account the specific shortcomings with your dining experience and use them to continue to improve. Thank you kindly for the positive feedback regarding service; we have made sure to pass on your compliments to the waitstaff. We hope you and your family will give us another chance in the future, and we look forward to serving you!
Great experience all around!
Thank you! We are glad you had a great experience with us and look forward to seeing you again soon!
The decor in this restaurant is just lovely. There was a small menu (likely due to C-19) but the steak was delicious as were the crab cakes. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about not just the menu but about Saranac Lake. We had a wonderful evening.
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting us at Campfire and letting us know about your experience! We are happy to hear that you had an enjoyable experience and will be sure to pass on your compliments to our staff. We hope to see you again soon.
Doesn’t really fit the area - modern/city atmosphere.
Thank you for the feedback! We hope that our restaurant brings something special to the area, and completely understand that concern. We will keep working with and listening to locals to ensure that we serve our community to the best of our ability.
Burgers a little over cooked however French fries were wonderful!
Thank you for the review! We will keep on working on improvements and hope to see you again sometime.
Campfire provided a very nice dinner after a long day of exploring the Adirondacks. I wish they had a few more entree options on their menu right now but I completely understand that everyone is doing the best they can with COVID. Be sure to save room for dessert because there are too many good options in that category.
Thank you for stopping in with us while you were exploring the Adirondacks! We appreciate your understanding in these difficult times, and are glad you enjoyed your meal with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We were staying in the hotel and on our first night stay we decided to eat here due to our late afternoon arrival. I won’t say the food was bad, it’s just way overpriced for what you get. We both agreed that we wouldn’t eat here again. The menu was very limited as well. The service was very good.
Thank you for staying with us at Hotel Saranac and giving our restaurant a try while you were here! We do our best to keep our prices reasonable in relation to COVID difficulties and our heavily locally-sourced menu, and we appreciate your positive feedback as we try to improve and evolve our menu going forward. Next time you are in the area, we hope you will give us another chance!
Omg! All the foods we ate there were so yummy and excellent! Very creative and smaller portions. The restaurant staff are very nice and knowledgeable. In the restaurant is very good atmosphere and not noisy at all! We definitely did enjoy and recommend to anyone!
Thank you so much for the positive review! We are glad you enjoyed your time with us and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
They were out of some of the limited menu choices.
They were out of the wines we were trying to order. To their credit, the staff kept coming back and telling us the wines we ordered were not available, but he staff then found a bottle, that was not on the menu to our liking, and ending up not charging us for the wine.
Service was VERY slow. Took along time to get our food
Thank you for dining with us and for the candid feedback on your experience. We appreciate hearing from our guests on areas where we can improve, and will use your notes to better our service in the future. We hope to have you dine with us again soon!
Took my fiance here on a date while we were in the area and it was the perfect spot. Good food, great location, perfect atmosphere. Couldn't have been happier.
Thank you kindly for the positive feedback! We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Limited menu (maybe due to COVID?). Blue Claw Crab Cake was a small amount of food for an entree. Campefire Burger was good, though not juicy. When the draft beer I ordered turned out to be unavailable (why not erase it from the chalk board?), I ordered a bottled beer, which took quite a few minutes to arrive. We were promised corn-bread to start when seated, which never arrived. Were then told there was a wait for maple butter to go with it, and it would be arriving. Finally had to ask for it again near the end of the meal (when crab cake recipient was still hungry). Our waiter wore a loose fitting mask with a valve, and coughed while taking our order. This didn't inspire confidence. Ambiance of the room is minimal, and with reduced seating density due to COVID, it's that much more apparent.
Overall, the food was good, but not great. The best attribute was convenience because we were staying at the hotel.
The restaurant was freezing—the ac was blasting even though it was 60 outside. Appetizers arrived quickly and were the highlight of the meal, but it took us prompting the waitress 50 minutes later for our soups to be served (mine was lukewarm). The waitress apologized, and bought us a round of drinks, but kept passing blame on the kitchen staff that they missed our order. Even if this is the case, it was not handled professionally. My burger was overcooked—medium/well opposed to medium rare. I really had high hopes for this establishment and for our anniversary dinner but it fell short on most areas.
It's a nice place with good food although a pretty limited menu. Service is hit or miss and seems overpriced for what you get. Still, it's a good experience and there are limited options for nice dining in Saranac Lake.
Understaffed and good sat under lamps for 20 minutes. When it arrived, salmon was dried out as well as steak. Nice staff.
They don’t officially have outdoor dining but you can order from them, and take it to the bar which does have outdoor service. The upstairs patio was accessible from outside so only one of us had to go in to order and pick up. Great food. Great drinks. Lovely evening.
Second time visiting. Reduced menu due to COVID, but still a lot of interesting choices. COVID precautions exemplary ... tables separated, extremely clean, masked servers. Restaurant in lovely restored old Hotel Saranac.
Once again they did not disappoint. Excellent food and service.
Service and food were wonderful. I felt all safety precautions were taken.
Service was excellent and bartender was SUPERB. Very accommodating and excellent manner. Food was prepared well and reasonable prices for everything.
I expected to have table outside otherwise everything was goid
Great service and they did a really great job of making sure we knew what precautions they were taking as a result of the pandemic—tossing menus (I know, paper waste but it was reassuring), gloves, masks, distancing from other tables.
We shared a wonderful dinner at the Campfire Grill. The drink selection was great as was the small, yet completely fulfilling, dinner menu. We had the grilled chicken and bistro steak; both were delicious. Our server was friendly and doing a great job balancing a lot of different things. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area!
Limited menu which we understand with Covid. Prices pretty high. Had to send two items back. One was raw and other was cooked to leather.
Limited menu.
We had buffalo shrimp app. Was ok
Salmón well cooked but whole dish needed seasoning.
Dessert was great.
The place was very nice.
Service was ok.
