The reservation process online was flawless, seated right away. Table was fantastic, intimate setting. Our server, Sidney, was attentive and knowledgeable. The food from app to dessert was phenomenal. Not an experience we can afford all the time but will most definitely visit again for a special occasion, thanks!
Server, Steve maybe- very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous.
This was the second time I have been to this restaurant and the second time I have had an excellent dining experience. Service was very prompt and the food is absolutely delicious. I got the pork tenderloin and my boyfriend the ribeye steak, both of which were fantastic. This is fine dining and the prices and food reflect that. It's not a family restaurant by any means. The setting is spectacular-- romantic and full of character. We would go back again in a minute and it's the reason we return to Mount Pleasant.
Finally found our new "Go to Place". It was our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and I couldn't have asked for a better or more beautiful place to be. The food was outstanding and our waiter, Sidney, was a hoot who presented me with a paper rose. Highly recommended....
Food was great - wonderful quality & presentation. Service was good, not over the top, but NO complaints. Atmosphere was wonderful, but music was a bit loud / however we had an early reservation: overall would definitely return, and would recommend.
Our meal and the service was excellent!! Get the bone in ribeye - trust me!! The butternut squash soup is out of this world too!!
What a great place! Our only objection was to the Golden Oldies music. It didn't fit the character of the restaurant. We both had the avocado stuffed with lobster meat which is so unique and wonderful. My husband had a great fillet. We had a wonderful chocolate dessert. Our server, Emily, was very attentive suggesting wines and checking in on us.
I was out of town for V-Day (nevermind that it fell on Ash Wednesday this year)...so we made plans to visit on Saturday. Probably the busiest I've ever seen Mountain Town and Camilles. I literally used the last available parking spot. We made reservations, and there was a slight wait. But no matter, we were seated quickly. There were a few items on the menu that were new since the last time we were there. Everything we had was delicious...just wish the server had separated our cobbler to go from the ice cream. It was melted by the time we got home.
Excellent food and amazing service. My wife and I had a wonderful time eating here. The only slight issue we had was that there were television screens playing ESPN, but they were turned off at our request. This is definitely the best (if not only) place in Mt. Pleasant for fine dining.
Pleasant atmosphere. Very nice we were not hurried out .
A very memorable evening!
I am a regular at Camilles and I was really disappointed on this date. I am not sure if they had a new chef or they were dealing with "after the holidays" staff but the food wasn't it usual level of quality. All three of the ribeye's that were ordered, were fatty and not cooked to the level requested. One was even sent back and still came back raw. Again, not sure what was going on but all of us had been to this restaurant multiple times and all were quite dissappointed.
Wonderful location for very nice group dinner. We had a great meal and wonderful service. Highly recommend.
Service was poor, Food was good, but they didn't have everything available off the menu.
The food was excellent as usual, however, this year the music was a bit loud and festive for a business lunch.
I LOVE Camilles! Especially their Lobster stuffed avacado appetizer!! YUM. The ambience is very nice. Service is always wonderful. Food always superb!!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is always innovative and delicious. We are never disappointed! The servers are exceptional! Love the cozy lounge area!
Have been wanting to try this place for a while now, and we should have wayyyyy sooner. Loved all three courses. The best scallops I’ve ever had.
Camille's is pricey ($36 for a steak), but the service doesn't match the prices. Our server was 19 and friendly, but couldn't speak to the wines (because she is underage), had trouble understanding cocktails that weren't on the menu (and referred to "spirits" as "spritzers," which was initially kind of confusing), and just in general didn't seem polished enough for someplace trying to present itself as fine dining.
Cocktails in general there are lackluster--they are very expensive for Mt. Pleasant (a $14 martini in Mt. Pleasant?!) and seem watered down, so maybe are shaken to vigorously? Food is a little hit or miss. We ordered a baked cheese appetizer that was creative, but lackluster. I got the ribeye, which I've enjoyed in the past, but found it surprisingly hard to cut. A previous appetizer (truffle fries) wasn't on the menu, but could still be ordered on request--so you have to be in the know!
I wish Camille's would up its game a little and work harder to be the fine dining experience it is trying for. Service needs to be more professional, and cocktails need improvement. For the same money right now, Cafe Zinc in Midland is a better option; it just requires more driving from Mt. Pleasant.
Excellent food and service. Waitress did a good job of taking a picture with our friends.
Spent 2 1/2 hours at dinner. Had a great time and Sara was an excellent waitress.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Camille's. The atmosphere is very cozy/quaint, the food was delicious, and the service was top notch. I would definitely recommend Camille's to anyone looking for a nice restaurant in this area.
Great meal with great service
This restaurant came highly recommended from people in Northville and Novi.
We arrived on time to our 8:15 reservation (party of 6). We were promptly greeted by the host who referred to us as "Liz party". She sat us and told us our server would be right with us.
Upon reviewing the menus we received, we determined there were only 5, not 6 menus. The other menus were wine or cocktail menus. No big deal. We shared.
And then time went by (I noticed it more because I set the reservation with open table and was the host), but without water service or anyone approaching us after 5 minutes, we were all getting a little anxious.
After 10 minutes (it was officially 8:25 when I stood up), I walked back to the host stand. The host was present and I said to her "we haven't yet been greeted and have been sitting for 10 minutes".
The host then said to me, "that's weird... let's see what's going on". She then followed me back into the dining room and I sat and she went into the kitchen. Our party then sat for an additional 3 minutes. No service.
I decided to invite my party to the other side (Mountain Top I think is the name of the bar and casual side). There was no host at the stand (which is shared by both restaurants), so we walked into the other restaurant. Upon approaching the empty bar, the bartender greeted us and we told him we would like to be seated. He told us that he had no authority to seat a table and we would have to go back to the host stand.
After that, we simply left. We walked to another restaurant less than 5 blocks away. For out of towners we were truly disappointed and I was very embarrassed.
Best food & ambiance in Mt. Pleasant!!
We had high hopes for enjoying a wedding anniversary dinner at Camille's to start our weekend. It did not happen! The restaurant staff did a poor job of navigating us through an unpleasant dining experience. A planned garden dining evening for other guests was abandoned after seven inches of rain flooded the garden, and forced it into the main dining room. Our meal started out okay as we were seated beside the bar and were shortly served our beverage an a very tasty Asian gumbo. Things went downhill from there!! The couple of dozen garden party guests crowded into the bar and disrupted our dinner. After about 20 to 25 minutes of neglect we were ready to leave. The staff stopped us and then seated us in their adjacent restaurant's main dining room. A suitable dinner was served with many apologies and free desserts.
The food was very good. Service was OK, not great. Biggest problem was the table. To our right was a nice look at the river. Directly in front of us was a room with a pharma sales presentation in progress. There was a curtain they could have pulled shut, but instead we were treated to a huge PowerPoint presentation on the latest drug for incontinence. My recommendation is to make sure you are seated in another party of the restaurant.
We used the OpenTable reservation but when we got to Camille's there was no confirmation that we had reserved a table for that evening. There was no problem with getting a table that night but wouldn't want that to happen if it would have been a busy night and no tables would have been available. We will try the OpenTable reservation again next time to see if it really works.
Food, service & ambiance is always great.
Told the waitress we had an event to get to, gave her plenty of time to serve the meal. She forgot to put our meal in and did not tell us until we had 10 minutes to leave. They lied and said the computers went down. Really, everyone around us got their meals just fine! Horrible experience!!!!! Had to leave without eating!!!
What a disappointment. Made the reservation on Open Table, arrive at the restaurant to be told they have a private party tonight- no availability. What?!
Always a pleasant atmosphere and good food. The cuisine is more creative than anywhere else in Mount Pleasant and the wine list is carefully selected as well.
We were seated at the table in the turret space and thoroughly enjoyed it! Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable and our dinners were excellent! Camille's is our favorite restaurant in Mt. Pleasant! (The bartenders make excellent classic Cosmopolitans!)
We would definitely return for a meal at Camille's on the River. The service was very attentive, the food was great, and the decor was comfortable. The parking is shared with a brewery restaurant that is attached with Camille's so it was difficult finding a spot to park. That was the only negative and with it being a Saturday night and sharing the lot with the brewery, it was understandable. I had the Salmon and added the squash soup and both the meal and soup were great. My husband had the Lamb and thought that was quite tasty but they switched the sides from a roasted vegetable I believe, to a lentil curry mixture that he didn't love. I don't recall what he had to start with but know he liked it.
Signage was not very good. A little hard to find.
We did not have the best experience. The food was not outstanding, lukewarm at best. We waited at least 45 minutes to get our meal. My drink took forever as well. The manager comped me my drink and also an after dinner wine but we just wanted a nice dinner. It was a special occasion that didn't end up being very special. The manager and waiter were very nice and tried to make up for the problems. For the $ it should have been perfect.
First off, service was probably the best I've ever had in MP.
Food was also great; both entrees were cooked perfect.
Ambiance was great for wanting to eat and converse.
Excellent menu...varied and many unique preparations and presentations. Efficient and friendly service.
The food was exceptional; the only damper on the evening was that the chef came out to explain they had run out of spoon bread and had to run out to get more ingredients! Are you kidding me? Why not simply say that you forgot our order? For a small, midwest college town, Camille's is quite a find the feeble excue for a late meal notwithstanding.
The atmosphere of Camille's was gorgeous, liked the fireplace and the water feature. The service was very good and friendly. The food while good was a little too pricey. This place is defiantly a special occasion dining experience.
The food was excellent, the service was not.
