Nice setting and the breakfast buffet was good; however no menus were offered to us which would have been nice even though I think most folks default to the buffet. Service was very good.
With a reservation, they still made us wait in line for 20 minutes even though our table was ready. They ran out of food twice in the 60 minutes that we were there. And the meal was still over $200 for 6 of us. Overall horrible experience!
$89 for a Christmas pre-fix and cold store bought bread at the table started the meal.
Very limited menu. You started with Butternut squash soup and then one of the three entrees
was a Butternut pasta?
Outrageous price from drinks.
Truly an abysmal experience. We reserved a table for five on Christmas Day and were subjected to one of the worst meals of our lives. Rubbery fish, watery soup, soggy vegetables, and rock-hard “desserts”. Never, ever again.
Christmas dinner. Price was very high. Food was subpar. But I realize you pay for the location and it WAS Christmas day when not many other choices. Hotel was great to stay in though.
I was really disappointed as this was our Christmas dinner everything was mediocre
This place only has a breakfast buffet. They previously had a full menu, including the buffet, but not now. Buffet was great before and still is, but it is now overpriced for what you get. Room is pretty and view is nice.
Brunch with Santa
We had Sunday brunch. The omelets were made to order with fresh ingredients. The other food served was was appetizing and satisfying. Great coffee!!
Not the same, after many years as a Christmas tradition, never again.
Sunday brunch was way over priced for what what was offered. The redecorating that took place recently was not at all attractive. I was a big fan of the traditional old Drake Bros restaurant. The service staff was inattentive . Food quality was fine but nothing great. For $28 per person for brunch I would rather go to Pinstripes or Grand Luxe. The charming old ambiance of the original Drake Brothers Restaurant is gone. Even the doorman at the hotel told me I was about the 100th person that has told him that.
Bloody Mary Bar was nice. Brunch was delicious. Service was a little slow.
It was a small buffet for the price. The only item that was good was the fruit and omelets.
If I go back I would order from the menu.
Wonderful Sunday brunch for my wife's 1st visit to Chicago.
Beautiful setting and abs a really great breakfast!
We ate breakfast here as recent hotel guests. Lovely ambiance, great table by the windows, delicious food. Servers were friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend it.
Terrible! Dirty plates. Hair on table. Rude waiters. Food was not good at all. Please be aware before eating there. Breakfast buffet is 30 per person and it's not worth it.
Decided to try Drake Brothers for Christmas dinner this year with a group of six family members including our 5 year old daughter. Our service was great, we appreciate the attention from our server. The food however was not. We understood that there was a preset meal for $89 per person plus tax and tip with meat/fish/veggie option but the fish option (Halibut) was overcooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. For the children's meal we chose the chicken option with broccoli and mac & cheese. The chicken was hard and equally overcooked and the mac and cheese had to be kraft mac and cheese. My daughter gladly ate the brocoli in anticipation of dessert. The menu stated a few dessert options but we were steered toward the candy shop dessert bar...so the chocolate cake and ice cream my daughter was hoping for didn't happen. However-she was quite pleased with the gummie worms. Nice atmosphere with the carolers, who received at least $40 in tips from my table for two song selections. They were very nice and accommodating to us. All in all, it was Christmas and we were just happy to be together. Next year- I will cook.
Very poor value for the food being served. very disappointed with food, service and then the bill, even though we knew the price for the food from the very start.
What has happened to this place? The Christmas meal this year was awful consisting of one slice of fatty beef and half a potato and half a sweet potato. The hotel did what it should do in this situation and did not charge us for the meal.
We have been four times, the last being 2011 when it was an absolutely fantastic 6 course meal and value for money and a highlight of our Christmas in Chicago. What has happened since then I do not know but the management has ruined it.
Will not return, based on this experience I don't think it will be in business to return to anyway, as knowbody would return given the quality of the the food. The chef and management should be ashamed.
