Calusa at Baker's Cay Resort Key Largo
Conch fritters, YES
Great experience! Our waitress, Tiffany, made the whole breakfast amazing. So kind, patient and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back.
Vacation stay for few days during spring break
Food is great. Wait staff was friendly & attentive. The view is stunning. Quiet & peaceful for the most part.
Great views, wonderful staff outstanding food!
Beautiful outside dining with incredible view of the sunset. Complimentary sunset champagne toast...nice touch. It’s tough to find fine dining on the Keys...this place is remarkable.
If you're in Key Largo and want a nice dinner, Calusa is a good candidate. The kitchen does a very good job executing on a limited number of enticing options. The setting, being right on the water, is also very inviting. Service is professional and while not the most inexpensive place to eat in the area, it is a good value.
Terrible service, excellent food.
Took 15+ min for our waitress to show up and get us water. When she finally did, we were ready to order everything - so ordered appetizer and meals. The appetizer took over 20 min to arrive and then only one meal came out. The guy who brought the food wasn’t sure what happened to my friends meal so he went to find the waitress Virginia. She shows up 5 min later and never put in the order apparently. I was done with my meal by the time she brought my friends meal. Her attempt at resolution was giving us a free dessert - which we didn’t even want ... we were out of water for over 20 minutes also, which is all we were drinking. Inexcusable. It wasn’t even remotely busy - we were her only table. She wasn’t even apologetic about it either ...
So much for a great meal our last night in town. So disappointing.
The food was good but not outstanding. Overpriced for what it was. Menu felt limited. Beautiful location and decor though. Appreciated that we could get kid-friendly items even though they werent shown on menu.
Food was average. The fail was not the wait staff but rather the kitchen. 60 minutes to get the main meal out.
We drove all the way from Miami and where told that since it was a long weekend only people staying on the resort where able to visit the restaurant and bar so we were not able to have dinner or drinks at the bar.
Fantastic. Must try the blackened Grouper. It was amazing! My daughter had the surf and turf and the filet was so soft that you could cut it with the fork. My wife's Mahi was delicious too. Overall the best food we ate at our trip to the keys. As usual in the keys, even with a reservation, they make you wait for at least half an hour to be seated.
Get the short rib - phenomenal!
Small but excellent menu. Beautiful sunset. Friendly service.
Easy to eat at thehotel night of check in. The menu is somewhat different. The food was good but far from great as per other reviewers. It was sort of pricey but to be expected as it’s a captive hotel customer. Good for one night but that’s it. Better places outside hotel in key largo if you have a car or Uber.
Breakfast buffet good if you have it included. Otherwise expensive so again go outside hotel, but all is a drive away as nothing to walk to from hotel.
The food and views were very good, the service left something to be desired, but it was not too bad. All in all, a nice experience.
Really worth the price. You can pay highly for dinner anywhere in the keys, but at least here you have the view, setting, service and facilities. The Mahi Mahi is fabulous. Would be nice if they offered a little bread or nibbles at the table whilst waiting for the lovely food, just a suggestion because the cocktails are strong! we will be back
Had dinner on a Saturday evening. Restaurant was not packed but service was very slow. Took a while for food to come out. There was a wedding going on so that may have slowed things down but that is no excuse. They charge fine singing prices for average food. Convenient since we were on property and not many other options nearby.
Service was very friendly and prompt. There was a wedding party that moved into the bar right as we sat down so snarled the drink order. Other than that, what a great place for a quiet dinner with a great sunset view!
Wonderful staff and beautiful setting! Lots of water sports and beach activities.
The food was excellent, even if the portion sizes were sometimes small and inconsistent. We went there twice as we were staying at the hotel. The first time we went, I had a salad and then curried cauliflower. Both dishes were VERY small so that I was still hungry when I finished dinner. The second time we went, I ordered the same things (I’m vegan and these were the only options), and this time the cauliflower was a good size but the salad was ridiculously small. Not sure what’s going on.
The service was very good both times we were there and the atmosphere was very nice as well.
Our server Cindy was fabulous! We were in Key Largo for a few days and this was our last night’s dinner. It was by far the most spectacular. I cannot rate the venue, the food, the service, or the setting/ambience more highly - top notch. The blackened grouper entree is a must.
If you get a Tiffany as your server it’s even better!
Loved the atmosphere, food and service. It’s a beautiful resort and a beautiful restaurant that was perfect for my husband and I and our kids. Looking forward to going back soon!
Christmas dinner buffet was very good, staff was very friendly
Although we couldn’t afford to stay at the beautiful modern resort, we booked this restaurant for our Christmas Dinner. The only real Christmasy thing in the buffet was a delicious bourbon-baked ham, but we also had our first key lime pie on the Keys, which was great. The restaurant staff from Jamaica were wonderful and we enjoyed chatting about the cricket we were missing in Australia. Definitely recommend this elegant (but not stuffy) and tasty restaurant.
Excellent staff with first class service and a dinning view of the sunset to die for.
Xmas eve and Virginia was excellent.
Shared a milestone birthday with my spouse at the Resort and Calusa, being their touchstone restaurant. Sat above the mangrove and Gumbo treetops at sunset. Amazing ambeance and attentive service. The Keys Pinks and Lobster Pasta is a must-have. Key lime tart with raspberry sauce was tantalizing.
We had the Thanksgiving Buffet. It lacked many choices, I was initially served some type of Turkey roll that the server took out of the turkey cavity. When i said something she began to carve the whole turkey and added a piece. Desserts lacked choices. Food was very average at best.
Great setting and friendly staff. $50 buffet was not worth it. Prime rib was not good, Turkey was dry. Shrimp mixture was good. Most "hot" items were warm, at best on the buffet. Gratuity auto added for a party of 2. $127 for 1 adult and a 13 y/o.
Booked this past Thanksgiving buffet there and it happened to be my wife’s 50th birthday as well. Food was ok and for $50/person we expected more. Ambiance was fantastic as well as the setting so we realized that played a part in the cost. Check was $162 for two people and two drinks and there was no mention of gratuity included in that total so I added 20% on top. Way overpriced dining experience!
Thanksgiving at Calusa restaurant (Bakers Cay) was amazing. The warmth & beauty of the restaurant along with the outside dining with sunset view was spectacular. All of the staff was super friendly and playfully uplifting. It was a lovely buffet that included all of the traditional Thanksgiving items. Would have loved to have a fish item such as Mahi Mahi for my daughter who does not eat turkey or prime rib. Definitely needed to have a larger selection of desserts (only had a couple selections pumpkin & pecan pie) otherwise it was a perfect, relaxing day. Thank you to all of the staff who made this a memorable holiday.
Spent Thanksgiving with my family. Wonderful ambiance, food and service. Love it and will recommend!!
Cindy was our server and a very pleasant and good experience. Food is always good at Calusa, the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars as it is very expensive relative to the portion you receive and drinks are fairly expensive. We had the Group and Scallops - and can't go wrong with either. We are locals and visit Calusa a several times a year, but due to price we must limit the amount of times we do frequent the restaurant.
Perfect for romance and getaway. Food is very delicious and server was truly wonderful.
The hostess was absolutely lovely and our server, Rusty, was very attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. It was a wonderful anniversary dinner. Calusa is definitely a new favorite. p.s Choose seating with views of the water, the sunsets are phenomenal.
