Vacation! Excellent meal and service—just pricey!
I’d recommend this only for special occasions. Like impressing your maybe future in-laws. Soo sheik. Top $, wine and food. Overkill with presentation. I thought micro greens, etc. and Foam were done back when Spago moved into BevHills. How bout a real sauce or reduction and cook the 2 chard leaves garnish w/ the micro cilantro to add some flavors to a dish. Again the foam bubbles?? Purée swatches and all. If that’s what you Cali pp need to survive, oh well. Service, hit or miss through the meal, there when you don’t need and not when you do. Decor is Flat and Square. Couldn’t afford dessert, but I’m sure the Mousse mixed w/purées and Foam were right on.
Always enjoy George’s Modern, this last time was beyond exceptional. The crudo, spaghetti and clams, followed by the spot prawns and beef tenderloin were all outstanding. The mixtures of flavor per dish is truly and art downstairs in Modern. We shared the appetizers, and thankfully chef and staff provided split plates to avoid any blood shed at the table, wise choice! The seasonal dessert was delicious. Service as usual, was non pretension but extremely professional and attentive.
Our waiter was fantastic!! He made the experience so memorable! We had 5 kids and 4 adults - he was so accommodating and patient! Loved it!!
Perfect. Beautiful setting. Great food.
Possibly the best meal we've ever had. The tasting menu was fabulous, but the wine pairing was spot on, every wine a perfect compliment to the course. Have tried Michelin rated restaurants in San Fran and Chicago but this exceeded any previous chef's tasting menu we've had before.
Time to get food was excessive. Ribeye Steak was not cooked evenly with one side overcooked.
We had the six course tasting menu. While the portions were small and the price (110) was high each small plate was exquisite. Service was perfect, professional, but friendly. A highly recommended splurge.
Shawn-our server-was great, and the chefs tasting lived up to expectations. We will be back to try Table 3😊
Fabulous cuisine enjoyed cove side with attentive staff. Snapper crudo and beef carpaccio were delicious! Gotta love a restaurant that irons their tablecloths before you are seated to dine!❤️
One of waiters was constantly giving my wife the look. We were laughing about about how bad it was. Was not our waiter. We had Sean. Great.
We were visiting from out of town & were told to check Georges out. We were seated overlooking a huge air conditioner unit or whatever it was with a fake scene of water with a palm tree! Our appetizers were not good, entrees were overpriced. Would not suggest this place to anyone
This restaurant is situated oceanfront. The decor is beautiful, bright and contemporary. We ordered the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. Second night in a row of excellent food, wine and service. I only gave it 3 stars on 'Ambiance' only because we were freezing in the restaurant! It was very cold outside and they were struggling with the heating system. Some people were eating with their winter coats... We would definitely go back since I am sure this was just a fluke that night.
Food was spectacular. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to and I enjoy fine dining frequently.
Nice drinks in the bar and friendly bartender. We were seated early per our request. Service was quite slow in spite of the restaurant not being full. However, recommendations from waitstaff were appreciated and servers were well trained.
Delicious food, classy quiet ambience, excellent service, great list of wines by the glass (some real gems), and relaxed pace of dining. A great place to linger over some excellent food and wine.
I had a very positive experience here a year ago, but this establishment is going downhill. My girlfriend and I decided to make this the location for our anniversary date while on vacation and it was a mistake. Our waiter made zero effort to build rapport and treated us like a dollar sign. He put us down when we didn’t order an appetizer and continually tried to up-sell us instead of making reasonable suggestions. I understand that waiters live off of tips, but it isn’t their job to make it obvious. We ordered the lobster, the dry aged ribeye and four drinks, so needless to say we still spent plenty while dining, but the waiter made it apparent this was not good enough. We waited at least 50 minutes from the time we ordered until we received our meal. When I commented on this, the only thing the waiter had to say was, “it seems like a long time when you don’t order an appetizer.” The table next to us had received an appetizer and their meal at least 30 minutes prior to this.... they ordered a bottle wine though... which leaves the impression that you only get good service if you spend a certain amount. It bothers me that I chose this location for valentines and my anniversary. I can’t take back this experience for my girlfriend, but I hope this review finds a couple that takes heed to this and does not make the same mistake that we did.
They sat us at our table right when we walked in with no delay. Our waiter was very helpful in answering any questions we had as well as giving out good suggestions since we were first-timers. Our food was spectacular and full of flavor! The atmosphere was cozy yet modern and classy. I definitely will be coming back. My expectations were exceeded and it made for an unforgettable night.
One of the worst fine dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was average for $110 per person. It was quite awkward that some of the dishes had a raw ingredient (I.e. a slice of pear, a raspberry, and an uncooked carrot slice) without any preparation. The dishes just seemed very disjointed in some respects. The service was horrible...the waiter wasn’t friendly, and came to our table several times without saying a single word. He never asked us how we liked each course. When we asked a question on how a dish was prepared, he simple read us exactly what the menu said...no additional explanation. The problems weren’t isolated to us either. The couple next to us told the waiter that she had a piece of glass in her water, and the gentleman bit an olive pit in his martini. If you want a good experience, I would recommend going elsewhere.
Great food but a little pricey. However, you're paying for a quality meal so this is expected. The service was great and the wait staff are very experienced. Overall a good decision.
We enjoyed our 3-course prix fixe Valentines Day meal at George’s very much. We both had the succulent octopus appetizer, followed by nicely-prepared Rohan duck for me and delicious Ohno for my wife, a fish we seldom see on menus. Properly decadent desserts and a glass of bubbly completed a very fine evening. Service was good, but we had to ask for bread a couple of times before it appeared. On a busy night, we can cut some slack. We chose to dine in the street side room which lacks the appeal of the rest of the seating areas at George’s, but $60 seemed a steep up-charge for regular seating, especially since there’s no view of the ocean on a winter night.
Great place and great food
This is a lovely, expensive restaurant with nice cuisine and excellent service.
Good food quality. The beef cheeks were melt in your mouth tender. Octopus appetizer was dry on a bed of black something that wasn't appealing. Green dabs of sauce saved the dish. Another had duck which was not to their taste. Fish tacos were excellent. Premium Pinot noir was lackluster unfortunately.
We dined here on a special occasion with three others. We arrived a bit early for the dining room so we went to the roof deck for a great drink . We took our drinks down to the diningroom and were seated by the window. We had two apps, the shrimp toast and the beets. Both excellent. We shared some reasonably priced wine and were asked if we wanted bread (they charge for it ) but it was good. We each had an entree I had the vegetables which were plentiful but a bit underwhelming, someone else had the lobster and another the chicken. All well seasoned and good. There was a 3 percent extra charge here which I thought was odd. The dessert was excellent and not to be missed
Food presentation is as delicious and fresh as it is innovative and superbly presented. Ambiance is top notch and service outstanding. Always reliable in an excellent way!
This was one of the greatest dinners I have ever been out to. I requested a table next to a window because my girlfriend was coming down from college over the weekend and they exceeded my expectations. Not only was it by a window, but tucked away in a quiet corner. The service was amazing! If you get Kyle, consider yourself very lucky. The food was as incredible and desert was also fantastic. On top of all this, they gave us a complimentary bottle of olive oil and some chocolate truffles! I love this place and I highly recommend it!!!
Excellent place. Great food and wine.
Very noise group seated close to us which was not the best.
Food was good, wine list was good. Overall enjoyed the night. Little pricey for what you get but its California and everything is overpriced.
Great customer service and the food was excellent!
went for restaurant week. They have the full menu, with surcharges for some of the more expensive entrees. It was a very nice experience, for a special occasion
Haven't been in several years, so decided to investigate. Ate early-6:00, needed to make a lecture at 7:30. Quite noisy, but quick service. Beautifully plated! Octopus appetizer excellent. Lobster bisque so-so. My Mahi Mahi a little to done. Husband's chicken dish not exceptional tasting. Just a little disappointed as it was rather expensive. After dark with no view, don't think it was worth it! CS
Bartenders upstairs were off putting at first, but from that moment on everything was lovely. From the waiters to the busboys everyone else was well trained, attentive and great. Restaurant is very nice, view was great, and food was incredible. We went during restaurant week so it gets 5 stars for value, but be prepared for $$ any other time - although, for a special occasion, it’d still be worth it IMHO.
No bread was served and my plate was taken before I was finished eating.
There is nothing wrong with the food but it is really not very special or impressive, especially at the price
the octopus was very fishy and i did not find an entree that i really liked
George's, you never disappoint. We had our first date 10 years ago at the rooftop level, so we had to come back to toast to that, and enjoy another delicious dinner downstairs. The quality, service, and creativity here are remarkably consistent. Portions are reasonable, and the prices are well deserved. From the bread, to the appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and wine, there wasn't a single miss, which is hard to come by!
Fantastic food and great service!!! The only negative was that the dining room was freezing! Everyone had to keep their jackets on - not only our table - at every table you saw people with their coats on. A bit strange to see at this fancy place, plus it's not very comfortable eating dinner when you are cold.
