Setting is lovely, food good, service not so much. Waited ten minutes, maybe longer, at our table before waiter arrive. Restaurant was less than 50% full.

What raises this experience to the Outstanding level is the location. High above, on the coast line, with exquisite views of the ocean and the forests which abut it, there is no restaurant in Carmel which offers anything like this view. Perfection!

We had breakfast Easter morning at a table on the window. One of the best views we had ever seen. Server and kitchen was very efficient - fast service. Food was good, but not superb. Still, great overall experience.

Both my duck and my husband’s stake were WAY over cooked. To the point they were dry and hard to cut and chew.

Love this place. I look for any excuse to bring a good friend here. Their breakfast and lunch options are incredible. I also enjoy the fabulous wine selection. Try the Textbook Cab--you won't regret it.

The food was outstanding. I had sea bass, my date had one of the best filet mignons she’s had. The views are unparalleled, and yes, you pay for it. The hostess was very accommodating but it took a while for our server to arrive. It seemed like it was either uncoordinated or understaffed, but we had to flag down someone to get our server.

Outstanding dinner -- of course the venue is spectacular, with fabulous views! Our waiter was personable, attentive, with a wry sense of humor! He took good care of us! Excellent food, wine, capped off by delicious creme brûlée.

Beautiful ocean views. Fun to see the charming server Manuel who I first met at Flying Fish two nights previous. Appreciated the Lavender Lemon Drop he made. Delicious and generous with the vodka! Pretty too. I just had a salad so nothing special but healthy with quinoa and avocado. Husband enjoyed his salmon. Go for the view and if you’re lucky, a server who knows how to make a good cocktail.

Stayed at the Hyatt for an overnight on our anniversary. The view was spectacular but the dining experience left a lot to be desired. We read the attire is “Resort Casual “ so dressed appropriately. We were surprised to see that they allowed tennis shoes, jeans, sweatshirts and etc. then our salads came out before the appetizer and then our dinner arrived before we had even finished that. The waiter told us there is a new chef and he was just pushing everything out. Then to top it off, we had to try a talk over the screaming kids that used the restaurant as their play ground.

Not the night we were looking for.

Top ratings for th view alone. Sweeping views from the cliff of the ocean, so you feel like you are on a boat. Great Food but on the pricey side. It's inside a hotel so you figure the price is for resort quality and for scenic view.

The food was amazing! Simply divine. The restaurant is gorgeous. Bus person, super friendly and pretty much the friendliest person working.
Our server and hostess were having off days, but that happens. We’d definitely try it again.

I went with four others, and all but one of us had the plant-based tasting menu. Every course was delicious, vibrant and filling. The wine pairings were great too. I hope the plant-based tasting will not be discontinued as I was told when leaving the restaurant but a not-so-tactful staff person. It would be a disservice to our community to move the tasting menu to meat-based, as there are PLENTY of restaurants in the area who cater to carnivores.

We heard they had combined the more casual California Market restaurant with the previously more upscale restaurant (Pacific's Edge) so we expected a somewhat reasonably or mid-range-priced bistro type menu. Instead we were presented with entrees in the $45 range with strangely-described ingredients. (What exactly is piquillo pepper emulsion?)
It was a special occasion so we figured it was fine to splurge. But the meals we were served lacked in flavor, temperature, portion size and overall inspiration. There is no reason potato puree should be cold when served! Beer battered artichokes should be piping hot! I'm not sure if our server was spread too thin that night but she forgot all about my $15 margarita I ordered between courses until I was more than halfway through my entree. No apology, Just a "whoops I forgot your margarita" ...and in good faith a restaurant with higher service standards may have even comped the drink. We wanted to order cookies to take back to the room (we had seen them on the room service menu) but our server told us she couldn't access anything from the room service menu and that we would have to order it through room service. (Which is another story---room service took the order then called back later and said they really didn't have cookies after all. Not the end of the world but just really not impressed with the overall experience.)
It is a beautiful view from the restaurant and the bar is also cozy with a big fire roaring and pretty lighting. Next time we may just hit happy hour and go elsewhere if we want a good meal.

Too pricey! $50 average for a meal is excessive. Prices should have averaged upper 30’s. Rocky point is just as good and more reasonable.

After coming here for so many lunches, I was SO disappointed in the menu. Our favorite Cobb Salad with lemon Dijon vinaigrette was no longer on the menu. I guess it disappeared with the chef. Here’s hoping when they get a new chef, that they might bring it back. I love the wait staff, they have been here for many years and are wonderful.
