The new California Market at Pacific’s Edge is the exciting fusion of the Hyatt Carmel Highlands' two popular and award-winning restaurants, the casual bistro California Market and the fine dining Pacific's Edge.

After the biggest renovation in the hotel's 100-year history, the California Market at Pacific’s Edge is ready to welcome diners for breakfast, lunch and dinner on its expansive new 870-square-foot deck, featuring louvered roof and glass-panel walls with dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean and the Big Sur coast.

Come and listen to the stylish voice of Neal Banks and contemporary guitar of Steve Ezzo every Friday night in the Lobos Lounge from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Enjoy the vocal stylings of Dino Vera in the Lobos Lounge every Saturday night from 7:00pm until 10pm. Peer at the wildlife on Bird Rock at Point Lobos through the ship's telescope in the corner, then drop the lens and join the party, dancing to tunes such as "Great Balls of Fire," one of their more raucous covers that always seems to get everyone up and dancing in merriment.

Always fantastic! Diana always comes through with a window table so that my wife and I can catch the sunset. Great food. new (to us) menu was just right. Worth the trip from walnut Creek for sure.

View was awesome and outdoor dining area quite nice except for the flies. They were horrible and totally made the meal not enjoyable. Food is over priced and underwhelming but we go for the view.

Requested and was confirmed window seat, unfortunately that did not happen. Did not know getting a refill on my water would be a challenge. Having to ask multiple individuals was a bit frustrating. My mistake for not ordering wine.

Food was outstanding (short ribs).
Service was very good , thanks to the waiters back-up crew.
Almost no interaction with the waiter - he was semi-pleasant, although insincere.
He never returned to ask about coffee re-fills.....or, anything. Am used to at least
SOME interpersonal dialogue with waiter.

If you're going for breakfast, try the Point Lobos Benedict - fantastic! And, bloody mary's are only ten bucks! Ask for a corner table and see if you can catch a whale or just find your peace taking in the waves and spectacular views.

If you're going for dinner, the entree selections are exceptional. Ask about the homemade pasta for the day!

The service is always good and the servers are friendly.

The view from Pacific's Edge is absolutely spectacular and the restaurant is quite elegant. The combination creates a romantic ambience. Entrees are very expensive. Service is elegant and attentive.

The food was decent. Our major complaint was the complete lack of service. Waited a bit for our server, he took our order and never came back. Walked back and forth several times, never checked on us or our food. We had to ask for the dessert menu and someone else brought it. Our server finally came when I had my purse in my hand and we were ready to go.
The floor manager walked past our table and a couple other tables, never spoke to us. Even when we were leaving the floor manager was talking to the hostess, as we passed she said good night and he said nothing.
From what we could tell they were low on wait staff, however, not that difficult to check on your customer if all you are doing is taking and submitting an order.
Having said that, our breakfast the next morning was delicious and our server was prompt and efficient.
View is incredible!

The location and views were amazing. Have gone for lunch before and thought it was tasty menu and reasonable pricing. Just went the first time for dinner and felt that the food was just average for the cost of it. Food was nicely presented but lacked the high end taste for the high end prices. Service was fair - our waitress forgot one of our cocktails and forgot that one coffee should have been decaf. So, dinner service/food, this time, wasn't up to expectations.

We sat on the outdoor patio in January and it was warm with a beautiful view. We had an amazing server, delicious food, and saw multiple whales cruising past us on their way south.
We didn't want to leave....ever!

We both ordered the plant based tasting menu. So thrilled to have a fine dining prix fixe vegan option in town finally! All 4 courses were fantastic. Best preparation of brussel sprouts we've ever had. We look forward to try every season's menu.

The loud music from the lounge drowned out the jazz music in the restaurant. This may be due to the location of our table.

Our hostess was obviously overworked. So not much attention to our table.

We ordered Dry Aged Ribeye .... not inexpensive ..... it was tasteless.

Bad day at California Market. Staff was totally overwhelmed for lunch on New Year’s Day which was surprising being that they were only seating guests with reservations. It took an hour after being seated to finally get our food which was not at all worth the wait. Sad to see what has become of a once outstanding restaurant, you can only cut costs so much before things fall apart.
