Unmatched views of the cliffside and Point Lobos. If you get there in time to see the sunset, the super high food prices are worth it. Our server Chris was amazing. They surprised us with complimentary dessert for my wife’s birthday.
It's all about the view. If not for that our experience would have been close to mediocre.
The place was incredibly noisy and made conversation difficult most of the meal. This included the server having to repeat himself multiple times just to convey the specials and such. The service was quite slow and erratic. The food was adequate but not on par with numerous restaurants in the Carmel area. Examples: the caprese like salad was highly recommended and stated to have wonderful heirloom tomatoes. They were a version of cherry tomato and were not very flavorful or tender. The salad overall seemed to be more about volume/size than flavor. One or my party order an octopus dish. The octopus was quite tough. As the evening wore on the crowd diminished and the restaurant quieted down. Then the meal, virtually over, became worth while. I checked out the lounge directly North of the restaurant. It was much quieter and apparently offering many if not all the same menu items. The view from the lounge is also remarkable.
While it had been over 20 years since we had been at what was once just the Pacific's Edge restaurant not much had changed. Ambience, view, service, menu, all exceptional. This time we brought our daughter and scored big-time points. Nothing failed to deliver. The drinks were excellent, the food superb, and the view, though quickly losing daylight was as stunning as ever. This IS the top place to go for a top-shelf dinner on the Monterey Peninsula, hands down.
What incredible views and a great dining experience!
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking the Pacific. We were seated promptly at a table with a spectacular view! Service was god with the exception that my husbands sandwich came with a salad instead of the fries that he requested. He decided not to mention it & ate only the sandwich. Otherwise, it was great!
This is a very nice restaurant with an excellent view of the ocean. On the day we went, it was not crowded and the atmosphere was quiet and nice. We noticed that the menu was a bit limited, but found our food prepared and presented well. The wait staff was excellent. We recommend it to you.
Service was well below what it should have been based on price. Waiter ignored us most of the night requiring us to go to the bar for refills or tracking down someone else. After complaining to the manager service improved for the next 5 minutes but returned to substandard after. 3 veal chops were ordered none of which were liked for flavor, temp, or appearance. Overall a very poor experience and wouldn’t recommend
Our waiter was no where to be found and unattended.
Angel stepped in and was extremely helpful.
Fantastic location to enjoy sunset, food was very good, ambience very nice, staff didn't meet expectations of a high end restaurant
We were a group of 11 celebrating my daughter’s wedding. The restaurant was extremely accommodating in catering to our request for privacy. The setting was perfect with a beautiful view of the sunset over the water as a bonus. The menu was quite varied and catered to all tastes. Everyone in our party was delighted with their meals, from the appetizers to the entrées and the desserts. The service was very attentive and went beyond the call of duty. Overall, a fantastic experience and a restaurant I highly recommend.
Dinner was excellent. The view was the main allure, but the food was great! Loved the bone marrow, salads, surf and turf. Everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful. Would recommend for both dinner and the sunset view!
World class setting Possibly most beautiful view I’ve experienced Service perfect Food quite good but menu a bit limited....Missing some mainstream options But overall amazing place and experience...
was surprised how long we had to wait to be seated with reservations as no one was at the front.. only one person and she was walking around not even noticing we were there waiting. Food was totally tasteless.
Magnificent views of the rocky Carmel coast are what sets Pacific Edge apart from other high-end restaurants in the area and I doubt there is a table without an excellent view. The menu is fairly limited and certainly pricey, but our four dishes ranged from very good to excellent. An ideal place for a special occasion, as ours was.
Thank you Erin and company for a delicious and delightful experience!
Awesome all around
The reservation was for 7 but showed as 7:45 in their system. Problem with OoenTable tech?
Fine food, I had the short ribs and my spouse had halibut. Nice view of the ocean, even if you're not at a window seat.
There for our 20th anniversary dinner - the views were phenomenal and food was amazing! Highly recommend the veggie ravioli pasta!
My breakfast of pastrami hash and eggs was below average due to the under cooked pastrami, which had an overabundance 50% of chewey fat. The eggs and potatoes were ok. My wife's Point Lobos eggs were very good. Great service and great views but not worth the drive. We are local.
Food came out extremely cold. The waiter kept recommending wine choices that were more expensive and less appetizing than the wine options we wanted to order.
We had a beautiful view but I was absolutely freezing. It can be so damp in Carmel, a blanket for my legs would have been nice. There was a table of 7 women right beside us that didn't seem to have any self-awareness. They were having a fabulous time, but in doing so made it incredibly difficult for my husband and I to carry on a conversation. Not sure what the management could have done about it anyway. My husband said 'WOW' about 2 dozen times. The lamb was almost as outstanding as the view. The service was impeccable. The mushroom soup too viscous and a little bland. We will return.
Outstanding service & exquisite food. Ambience perfect. Couldn’t have been happier with our experience.
Beautiful location, wonderful food and the view is spectacular!
Always delightful. Incomparable view, great service and wonderful food!
The views were incredible and were the ambiance. Very quiet and romantic. Perfect for date night or drinks at sunset. Quieter so not great for groups/louder people. Food and wine list strong.
The beauty of its setting outdoes the food and service! Dazzling views made our visit very special. Our brunch was good but unremarkable.
Best view in the area. Healthy food choices. Very fresh fish. The halibut sandwich is a favorite for lunch. Lovely, relaxing place to take in the waves at the cove and Point Lobos while enjoying a great meal. Service is always friendly and attentive without being in the way. Highly recommended.
Great food and view
The location and staff were amazing. It was a rainy day in Big Sur, but they made it better with their beautiful views. Dessert was delicious.
I gave it five stars because I couldn’t give it 10! Incredible service! Incredible food! Probably the best view I’ve ever had in a restaurant! The prices are what you would expect for a very nice meal in a very nice restaurant and dinner was less than I expected to pay. The perfect restaurant to celebrate any event or to just enjoy a family or romantic dinner.
We dined here for our wedding anniversary . Everything was perfect. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
I go to California Market several times a year and I have to say, I was disappointed at this last dinner.
First off, there was a super long black hair that was stuck inside the menu - the hostess' long black hair. Gross.
Because we came in at 5:30, observing the ocean view from your beautiful tall windows, the sunlight caught and showed the dust along the window sides. Your cleaners only clean up to how far they can reach, 6 feet perhaps? The rest of the way up - dust, dust, dust!!! Yuck.
The scallops that were ordered - well, that was it, just scallops, it has come with potatoes in the past. For $55, really? The lamb shank was over cooked - dry. The side of green beans burnt. If I could give you a crying emoji, I would. Very sad experience this time....
Wonderful food, great service and a spectacular view. I took my mother as a Mother’s Day treat, and it was worth the drive from San Francisco.
It was a very disappointing dining experience. Upon check-in, most of the window tables were taken but we asked if we could sit at the booth window table. The response was that these booth tables were reserved for party of four (well, but the two other tables were occupied by party of two. To add insult to injury, we noticed that table was still empty by the time we left!). Then when we sat down at another non-window table, and my wife asked the receptionist if she could grab a small chair or something for her to place her purse. She seemed somewhat reluctant and then after much back and forth with another restaurant staff, she finally pulled up a chair from the next table. A few minutes after, our server approached us and the first thing he said was "can I take your order?". No offer to go over the menu or ask if we have any questions. We first ordered two appetizers and drinks and wanted to take our time a bit. The next question was "what about your entree???". We then said we wanted to wait. As we were having the appetizers, the server came over three times (yes, three times) and asked if he could take our entree order. The restaurant was not busy at all and we kept wondering why he had to rush us like that. I felt like we were dining at Danny's or equivalent restaurant. It was a very unpleasant dining experience given this poor service. We think giving two stars was being pretty generous as I was erring on one star given this poor treatment by the restaurant for a VIP opentable customer.
The Hostess that greeted us friendly. Service was slow for our table - the couple seated next to us arrived after we ordered our main meal. They ordered appetizers, ate them then ordered their dinner, which was the same dishes as my wife and I. Their plates arrived first while we were still waiting. When our plates arrived, the dishes were lukewarm. Not a posh restaurant as expected. Saw waiter a few times. Not worth the value or service. However, the views from our table were wonderful.
The food was fresh and delicious. I have some food allergies that I told them about it and they were very accommodating in preparing the food without the allergens.
Just about everything was excellent. There was some minor disconnects with the service, we ordered oysters and the seafood forks weren't delivered with the oysters, came a few minutes later.
It’s the most beautiful restaurant with the most amazing view. Food is good, our service was excellent but the view is the thing.
When he saw us with my elderly mother and her walker, employee Rafael ("Raffi") offered us easier access via an employee elevator and route through the kitchen. Amazingly gracious and helpful -- we so appreciated it. He is a prince and reflects so well on the management of this beautiful property.
Indoors we were greeted warmly by hostess Elizabeth and other staff. The room is set up to take advantage of the gorgeous coastal view, with tables arranged in tiers so everybody can see outside. If it's chilly but you are intrepid and want to sit outdoors, there are heaters—and blankets! Food excellent. Highly recommended.
