Calhoun Street Tavern
We strive to offer Old Town Bluffton, SC a timeless neighborhood watering hole just a couple blocks from the bluff. Paired with a chef driven menu of southern plates, thoughtful service and comforting lowcountry classic food.
After a swell day on the river or a rough one at work, bring a friend or come alone. Whatever you do... pull up a stool and stay awhile.
You are home.
Dinner entree was good but only included a meat and grits with no side, could get a side for extra. With a $23 meal I would expect a vegetable option. Meal portion was small and I left still hungry. We were in the outdoor area in the evening and it was cool and they had fans running so we asked to have the fans turned down or off and they couldn’t figure how to do it so we were uncomfortably cool and our food got cold quickly. The live music was nice but I don’t think the overall experience will bring us back.
Good food, service was a bit slow. The chop house salad there is quite good. Somewhat noisy, but the food more than makes up for it.
We love Calhouns! Delicious food, great outdoor seating, always so much fun!
Visiting with old friends - short statured friends - who were very uncomfortable with low chairs/high tables. Staff was not accommodating at all. Food was good, but service poor. Received appetizers but not plates - etc.
Awesome food, service, and band! Would definitely recommend for a date night.
Lively setting, interesting cocktails, service was great
And the entertainment on the patio was fantastic.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like an English pub. We are local and have been here quite often . We love Linda, the waitress.
Just ok. But our server was very sweet!
We enjoyed the evening and the food. Their take on Shrimp and Grits is a bit different with the spicy sausage.
Our waitress was amazing as my son has a seafood allergy and she made sure his food was cooked in a separate pain. Food delicious and prices reasonable. We will be back!!!
Very good, training a new bartender so Bloody Marys took awhile. Floor concrete and chair legs metal so noisy when people are accessing table or leaving tabke
Good place .....fun place... a bit noisy but that is its character
We went here for dinner at 6:30 with another couple. We had never been here before. I ordered the salmon and, for a side, the beet & grapefruit salad. Both great!!! I would definitely enjoy returning here for lunch sometime when it isn’t so crowded and ordering the large beet & grapefruit salad. Our waitress was good, friendly and attentive only she had to be reminded several times to bring our friend a to go box. All of us enjoyed our meals and agreed that everything was delicious. Everything, including hamburgers and wine, was pricy. The negative thing that would prevent me from recommending this restaurant to our friends was the noise level. It was so loud inside that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. But it was very convivial and we’re older. If we were younger and coming with a group of friends for happy hour, this would definitely be a go to place. It was crowded and obviously very popular.
The food was varied and delicious. The wine selection was limited, but OK. This is not the place to go if you want to have a quiet conversation with your date. Otherwise, enjoy good food at reasonable prices.
We have been there twice. Love the Mac and cheese, fried tomatoes and hamburger. My son loves the roast beef sandwich.the prices are a little high making it posible to eat once in a while. Service had been great friendly, attentive have been greated right away.over all great place.
Great dinner this is such a nice place for a great meal and the staff is always pleasant and helpful
Service was very good and quick, food tasted great, but establishment is very noisy. Somewhat hard to carry on a conversation.
Not a good experience. Ordered the cheese and meat tray to start. The servers didn’t know what cheeses were served. And the tray looked like something you’d make at home in 5 minutes, with rolled cold cuts and a slice of cheese. Didn’t even want to order dinner, since the appetizer was so bad.
The quality of the food was great. The service was impeccable, but the noise level was way to much. My friend and I couldn't have a very good conversation because of the noise. We had to repeat ourselves too many times! If you're looking for a quiet, romantic spot, this isn't it.
Great place, food was cooked perfectly. Portions were perfect and service was timely and pleasant.
Very comfortable setting , food was very good and the band that played was at just the right volumn.
Good food and fun atmosphere. Service was good and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
What a wonderful and charming little find for us. Everything about it was top-notch. Excellent food and the friendliest folks in town working there. Linda and Vic where warm, friendly, and excellent at their jobs. Celebrating a birthday and had so much fun! Will definitely make a return visit. J&P
Sitting outside with live music and great food. We love this place.
Sadly disappointed with the food. Will not come back.
Great place to enjoy with your favorite person or a group! We have done both. Service is great. Atmosphere very relaxing and fun. Music with Lalie always adds to the visit. We have always sat outside. Food delicious, drinks a bit pricey!
Overall A+ in our book. Looking forward to going back.
Great food and excellent craft cocktails! They were very busy the night we dined so the noise level elevated, which is to be expected. Inside dinning room was a bit warm but that was mostly due to the fact a lot of people were coming and going in a small space.
Everything great except one meal didn’t arrive until others were almost finished!
When we arrived we order drinks and soon after ordered dinner Our drinks arrived on time and we quite delicious. Another couple came in after us and were seated next to us. They also ordered drinks and then dinner after us. After a period of time our waitress came over and asked what we ordered, she had not turned in our order. Later she said our food was at the window, but that wasn’t true, because or food was still a long time coming. This is one of the only time I never left a tip.😡😡😡😡😡
The food was good. Our server was great. The restaurant was too hot. Maybe the air conditioner wasn't working. The floor was wet, and an employee sprinkled rice on the floor.
The food is pretty good and the drinks are great, reasonably priced. The service is pretty awful and when we were there, there was no AC it felt like in July so it became very uncomfortable.
Our first time dining here, and will for sure be back. Great food, service and atmosphere. A must try.
First time in Bluffton and we loved the bar at the Calhoun Street Tavern. We went both nights we were there. Chelsea was awesome. Loved her Lemon Drops💗. Great atmosphere and service.
The service was top-notch, went to days in a row. Local fair was outstanding. Loved the atmosphere and live music. Would definitely go again.
Wonderful lunch. Prices are a bit high but quality was good.
I really like Calhoun Street Tavern! The flounder with crab on the dinner menu is delicious plus the shrimp and grits and creme brûlée! My brunch experience was still good, but not as good as the dinner. My dish called the eye opener came with baby shrimp which I do not like. I’d rather see four good size shrimp than baby ones. The dish is still very flavorful and good! The chairs at the four tops are hard for me to sit in bc of my bad back. The service is awesome and the servers couldn’t be nicer! It’s overall a great place to sit outside and enjoy a beverage and a good bite to eat.
It is a very inviting place, however overpriced a bit
Yummy crab cakes and our burger was very good as well. Great menu choices. Only complaint was the smell—the kitchen is close to seating and open. We all noticed it and my clothes and hair left smelling like it. Maybe sitting outside would have been a better option!
Great vibe in old town Bluffton!
Outdoor seating as well.
The Cal Martini is awesome. And great selection of bourbon
Part of going out to dinner is conversing with friends. Unfortunately our party of 6 could not have a suitable conversation. Great food; just too noisey!
