Calhoun Street Tavern
We strive to offer Old Town Bluffton, SC a timeless neighborhood watering hole just a couple blocks from the bluff. Paired with a chef driven menu of southern plates, thoughtful service and comforting lowcountry classic food.
After a swell day on the river or a rough one at work, bring a friend or come alone. Whatever you do... pull up a stool and stay awhile.
You are home.
Had a wonderful time! The food, service and music was great!
Quaint and exceptional. Food is fantastic services awesome. Highly recommend
Friends from NY were down and we wanted them to experience Old Town Bluffton. We’ve eaten at Calhoun’s several times, enjoying the food and great service.
We had the most delicious food and excellent service. Small place, but delightful!
Always great food, service, atmosphere
We enjoyed our meals. Our Vodka Mules were weak, at best. I would stick with beer next time. Now the curious thing and why I rated it 3 stars. I had not used my AMEX card for over a week. The next day after dinner I had 3 charges from e-Nike and e-Adidas. I notified AMEX and an investigation is underway. Can't say it happened here, but curious.
It was just too loud for conversation inside the establishment. Bar scene was great. Just tough to dine without yelling.
The food was delicious! We will be back! A little loud due to a birthday celebration!
Originally reserved for outside dining, but due to a huge possible rainstorm, my husband noticed an empty table and requested to eat inside. The hostess asked if we would be done by a certain time, because of another reservation. We told her we would be done way before it. She accommodated us! It worked out perfectly. Very friendly staff!!
The food and service was great. The inside venue is small - would have loved to sit outside but with musician playing it was loud and we could not talk so had to sit inside.
Great local spot in heart of old town Bluffton!
Good food and good atmosphere
Disappointed with both the food and service. Have eaten here before and each time seems to be getting worse. Doubtful that I will eat here again.
High noise level
I had requested an outside table in my reservation and when we arrived there was a table set up for us inside. it seemed that there was only one server working and I didn't want to make her run between inside and outside tables so we agreed to just stay inside. Service was slow, I know we were a larger group, but there weren't many other tables inside. Food was outstanding, as always. Will definitely come back, but hoping for better service next time.
Great for happy hour or dinner
We had our favorites , so no surprises—love the pickled shrimp and the burger. Our server seemed new and a little nervous but she was attentive and got the job done. My only suggestion is to maybe update the menu just to keep it interesting.
Great place with super staff! Love the decor. The food is always spot on. Shrimp burger and tavern fries were delicious. My husband loved his salmon.
Great music, great food!! Server got our bill wrong and disappeared whenever we needed her. But I’ll be back!!
Great meal and service. Excellently priced. .
The food was great, especially the steak, fried potatoes and chicken fingers. The ambience was pleasant though somewhat noisy and the front door was open much of the time, making it COLD inside. Servers were pleasant. Time from order to meal was almost 30 min.
Looking for a place to eat last minute on a Saturday night without a 2 hour wait. Found this on Open Table! Excellent food and service. Not too loud when we arrived at 6:30 PM reservation but was much more energetic as we left about 8:00. Overall a great find in downtown Old Bluffton for our family. Would definitely eat there again. Recommend without hesitation.
Dinner entree was good but only included a meat and grits with no side, could get a side for extra. With a $23 meal I would expect a vegetable option. Meal portion was small and I left still hungry. We were in the outdoor area in the evening and it was cool and they had fans running so we asked to have the fans turned down or off and they couldn’t figure how to do it so we were uncomfortably cool and our food got cold quickly. The live music was nice but I don’t think the overall experience will bring us back.
Good food, service was a bit slow. The chop house salad there is quite good. Somewhat noisy, but the food more than makes up for it.
We love Calhouns! Delicious food, great outdoor seating, always so much fun!
Visiting with old friends - short statured friends - who were very uncomfortable with low chairs/high tables. Staff was not accommodating at all. Food was good, but service poor. Received appetizers but not plates - etc.
Awesome food, service, and band! Would definitely recommend for a date night.
Lively setting, interesting cocktails, service was great
And the entertainment on the patio was fantastic.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like an English pub. We are local and have been here quite often . We love Linda, the waitress.
Just ok. But our server was very sweet!
We enjoyed the evening and the food. Their take on Shrimp and Grits is a bit different with the spicy sausage.
Our waitress was amazing as my son has a seafood allergy and she made sure his food was cooked in a separate pain. Food delicious and prices reasonable. We will be back!!!
Very good, training a new bartender so Bloody Marys took awhile. Floor concrete and chair legs metal so noisy when people are accessing table or leaving tabke
Good place .....fun place... a bit noisy but that is its character
We went here for dinner at 6:30 with another couple. We had never been here before. I ordered the salmon and, for a side, the beet & grapefruit salad. Both great!!! I would definitely enjoy returning here for lunch sometime when it isn’t so crowded and ordering the large beet & grapefruit salad. Our waitress was good, friendly and attentive only she had to be reminded several times to bring our friend a to go box. All of us enjoyed our meals and agreed that everything was delicious. Everything, including hamburgers and wine, was pricy. The negative thing that would prevent me from recommending this restaurant to our friends was the noise level. It was so loud inside that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. But it was very convivial and we’re older. If we were younger and coming with a group of friends for happy hour, this would definitely be a go to place. It was crowded and obviously very popular.
The food was varied and delicious. The wine selection was limited, but OK. This is not the place to go if you want to have a quiet conversation with your date. Otherwise, enjoy good food at reasonable prices.
We have been there twice. Love the Mac and cheese, fried tomatoes and hamburger. My son loves the roast beef sandwich.the prices are a little high making it posible to eat once in a while. Service had been great friendly, attentive have been greated right away.over all great place.
Great dinner this is such a nice place for a great meal and the staff is always pleasant and helpful
Service was very good and quick, food tasted great, but establishment is very noisy. Somewhat hard to carry on a conversation.
Not a good experience. Ordered the cheese and meat tray to start. The servers didn’t know what cheeses were served. And the tray looked like something you’d make at home in 5 minutes, with rolled cold cuts and a slice of cheese. Didn’t even want to order dinner, since the appetizer was so bad.
