Great food, great service, great atmosphere. High quality dining experience; price reflects the quality so not inexpensive. Delivers an exciting, fun, upbeat experience. Food has overtones of Iberian/Portuguese/Latin influence. Recently restored and upgraded historic hotel ambiance but with chic urban feel. Valet parking.

I like going for the cookbook dinners. I have asked about and written about the tips being generated after tax and the health surcharge was put on the bill. I realize this is adding to a higher total for the servers so they won't complain about it, but the state of california tax board has never cleared my table. I expect to tip generously on the service provided, based on the menu prices for what I ordered.

I love Caldo Verde’s regular menu and overall vibe. This was my first cookbook dinner. The meal was delicious. Our server was lovely. I especially appreciated how conscientious the valet staff were given that it was raining. It was a great start to our evening. All around excellent team. My one suggestion specific to the cookbook format is to either have the servers or someone talk a little about how each course relates to the cookbook or the author’s overall approach to cooking. The cook books were available, although not in a super visible spot.

Jesús was an incredible server. He walked us through the menu, had excellent food recommendations, AND unmatched knowledge of tequila (which is our favorite). We had such a great experience! ask for Jesús next time you are in!

Amazing dining experience! Dennis Yol, Director of Food & Beverage, and his team exceeded all expectations. The food was out of this world (Piri Piri Chicken and the shrimp dish were outstanding). Adriana, our server, was on point all night and even knew the recipe of the shrimp dish when we asked. Chef Tim visited our table. Erick, the food runner, was so engaging. Husain who greeted us at the door of the hotel was so welcoming and gracious. Highly recommend this place!

The ceiling mural in the lobby is amazing! Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I did not love the Gateway cocktail, it was very bitters forward. The bay scallops in the ceviche were fishy and overpowering. The striped bass was by far the best thing we ordered. The chicken was fine, but the fries under it in the sauce were really yummy. Not great when the fries are the best part of a $44 plate. Overall I'd say just ok.

The food was some of the best I've had in LA. Perfect dishes for sharing. The ambience is what I'd expect from a Proper Hotel 👌 but our server, Victor, was the highlight of our experience. He gave us amazing food and wine suggestions and the best service I've had in a long time.. he was so friendly and attentive. Truly a gem of a human.

This was our first visit to Caldo Verde. We had high expectations, due to the many great meals we have had at restaurants where Suzanne Goin was involved, and this didn't disappoint at all.

The food at Caldo Verde is interesting, flavorful and beautifully plated. The portions are small and the prices high so by the time you've finished, you're around $200 for 2 people before tax and tip. We had a strange experience in that the bartender was AWOL so food came out before drinks and the servers were mixing drinks while waiting tables. Made for an odd rhythm. At these prices, things should have been smoother.

Had the absolute pleasure of dining at Caldo Verde! The design and ambiance are immaculate to say the least. The serving staff was extremely attentive and the meal was coursed out perfectly - 5 stars all the way. We started with some cocktails which were perfectly balanced. The menu has something for everyone and is perfect for sharing. Some standout dishes were the ceviche, heirloom tomato salad, and the fish. The entire meal was delicious. We thought we were too full for dessert but were absolutely wowed by the three we got, and we all but licked the plates clean. We had no idea until after we devoured the cakes and ice “cream” that every dessert was gluten and dairy free, which was shocking! If you’re thinking about making a reservation or going for drinks, lunch, or dinner, do it!! Can’t wait to go back! Thank you to the entire staff for such a lovely experience!

I liked the taco and crab salad. The apple salad was different and tasty. we had the grilled chicken sandwich that was excellent but not certain about the salad accompaniment. I liked the chocolate ice cream very much. we sampled the shoestring potatoes but not the other salty crunch stuff. Jesus was a stellar server and very attentive. the bus boy wiped the table after every serving. the red breast Manhattan was also very good.

We love Suzanne Goin's food from AOC to the Hollywood Bowl and had been meaning to try Caldo Verde for some time. We finally found ourselves downtown on a Monday evening and it simply blew our minds - next level. A wonderful location and dining room. To start the cocktails were superb, we then enjoyed fun wines by the glass that our waitress Adrianna guided us through, letting us taste them before deciding what to pair with our small plates. I could break down the food, but one dish was better than the next from the bread wish Portuguese charcuterie to the spicy, crunchy, fresh tomato and jalapeno soft cheese salad to the eggplant and peppers that ended up being one of the stunners to the chorizo stuffed squid not to be out done by their name sake dish Caldo Verde - a rustic Portuguese rock crab soup with linguica, potatoes and kale. The service was perfect and you could tell everyone loves their restaurant. Bravo Suzanne!

From the sit down to the check all perfect. Hiccups happened when showed up 5 mins before my reservation and was told they didn’t have me in system but still will accommodate a table for me. Then I made it clear we were only 5 guests instead of 6. Menus were left for 6 so waiter though we were waiting for the 6th person so they did not come take our order for awhile due to that misunderstanding. Good that water checked in after a while and asked if we were waiting for the 6th person. I didn’t say anything but thought to myself “hmmm I was clear with the hostess it was only going to be 5” over all a good bday brunch

Not a Portuguese restaurant in the least and I have no idea why it’s marketed as such. Food and service are great, but what it says on the tin is not what’s in it. Disappointing if you’re expecting Portuguese cuisine. It’s more like like California fusion w a few subtle Iberian influences.

This was my 4th time dining at Caldo Verde, I have always had great experience food wise but the service this time wasn’t as good! The server had a fun attitude but would take forever to take our order, put it in and bring it! The fish took 45 min to come and that when we asked them about it after 25 min or so at which point I’m sure they had forgotten about it. The server tried to make up for it by pouring some wine for us but honestly I can’t say it made a difference. All that being said the food has been delicious each time, the Portugese fish is a must try and so tasty. Another issue is the food options are limited in sense unless they change the menu so I’m not sure about going back since I’ve been 4 times already. Interior design and ambience is also great!
