Everything was delicious, as you’d expect at a Suzanne Goin restaurant. Who knew kale and farrow could be so flavorful? The piri piri chicken was delicious as well.
Very knowledge, attentive staff, who were helpful in helping select a Portuguese wine based on my palate.
The restaurant was empty last night (Friday), which may have helped create a sense of calm and quiet. Our server was very knowledgeable, attentive, and not at all intrusive. She guided us through the menu and we chose well as a result. The yellow tomato/halibut gazpacho was sublime. The chopped salad was refreshingly bright and well seasoned. The piri piri chicken had the perfect nuance of flavors, though a little spicy for us. The rib eye was cooked to perfection. Banana Tarte Tatin is reminiscent of bananas foster and absolutely delicious. The only down side was the coffee after dinner. Equator Coffee was served at Lucques and we love it, the brew at Caldo Verde was somewhat bitter. We will definitely be back!
Went there for lunch w a family including out toddler. Doorman checked vaccination status, which was very reassuring given than a bunch of places still don’t do that. The dining area is very spacious and was not crowded at all. All dishes were superb. Their kale salad and fish dish are especially unique and delicious. Well made cocktail drinks as well. Service was friendly and attentive. At a time when restaurants in LA are deitiorating, this place was impressive. 5 stars.
Thanksgiving meal at Caldo Verde was a great choice. I've never had a turkey meal I enjoyed more than here. Yes, it was a restaurant and not a home cooked with family but if you don't have that option this year then I highly recommend it.
The turkey was cooked perfectly. The gravy was a great texture. The stuffing was unbelievable as well as the mashed potatoes. All of the sides were perfect!
I probably would have preferred one or two desert options rather than a bar of deserts. I didn't like the desert I picked out, and didn't want to be wasteful and just grab a bunch of deserts to find the one I loved. They had an olive oil caramel chew that was amazing!
I would definitely go back for a holiday meal or any meal for that matter. Caldo Verde is a fantastic beautiful restaurant with great service!

Beautiful restaurant, great service & delicious drinks & food. The Campechana (ceviche type starter) was amazing & had an abundance of fish and the “salty favorites” with the toast had a nice array of cured meats, olives & anchovies & was so tasty. The sunchokes were perfectly crispy on the outside and addicting! The beef cheeks were tender and the flavors fantastic. The banana tarte tatin was a great version of a classic, flaky layers and yummy carmel & banana. Everything was great start to finish! Can’t wait to go back for brunch. Stopped in at the rooftop bar/restaurant Cara Cara after -spectacular views and ambience with fire pit and heaters.
The menu is truly imaginative and the dinner memorable. Since everything is shared, it was a bit hit and miss to create good combinations. Some dishes worked together beautifully and others were out of place. Highly recommend the Pork cutlet, Portuguese Salad; Brussel Sprouts, Plate of Portuguese cheeses.
I was staying at the Proper Hotel as guest for my birthday and wanted to celebrate the “proper” way. The unique blend of Portuguese flavors with a California garnish can be found in each bite. My favorite dish was the prawns, light & delish, and the patatas bravas were crisped to perfection. The executive chef, Chef Chang Sivilay, even took the time to bring a dish out to tell us about the menu which was so meaningful.
The ambience at 5:00pm was quite, comfortable and I enjoyed their music selection.
My guest and I enjoyed our crafted cocktails — espresso martini &. Oaxacan Old Fashion.
I look forward to coming back here very soon.
I've been twice since it opened, and both times it's been an exceptional. I'd recommend everything I had: the cheese plate, boule with butter, prawns, herb fries, mess of greens, and the alvarinho. I will say the mess of greens was bitter the second time around, and I preferred it without whatever green added that strong bite (as it was the first time I had it), but it still had a lot of flavor. On my first visit, I danced in my seat because everything was so good. The service, ambiance and decor are also wonderful. My first reservation was for outdoor seating, but when we arrived, I saw that it was on the Broadway sidewalk with little barrier between the tables and passersby; there were more potted plants and trees the second time, but it's still not a desirable outdoor setting to me simply given the downtown location. But aside from that, I can't recommend this place enough. I live nowhere near downtown, but I'll make the trip for Caldo Verde.

Beautiful new space . Loved the Portuguese chopped salad ant tosta mista sandwich. I can’t wait to come back and try dinner. Suzanne Goin remains one of my favorite chefs!! Really nice wine list too.

Food was very creative and delicious and the waitress was exceptionally attentive. Beautiful setting for a dinner with friends. Be sure to see the rooftop bar—and the city of LA!

A gem of food and hospitality. This place is going to get popular very fast. 3 times dinning here but first time for Brunch. Beyond my expectations and my expectation were very high. The extensive menu has so much more then the usual brunch fair.
Food is a wonderful mix of flavors and the beverage menu is beautifully curated.
A new Dimond for DTLA
This review is for our breakfast experience. We returned to Caldo Verde after having stayed one night at the hotel a couple weekends ago. The Huevos Divorciados are delicious served with corn tortillas handmade by local vendors. I ordered a Cappuccino and my husband ordered a drip coffee. Both were good. The monkey bread was not overly sweet. Made just right. Fresh fruit was yummy. We even ordered a couple Carajillos and although the bartender had never heard of the drink, they were made just right and without us knowing until after the fact. Very accommodating. Wait staff were super gracious. We’ll be back for more breakfast and future staycations!
Suzanne has done it again! We ordered Kale and Farro which was really good. Tad bit spicy but Perfect amount of spice blended well with kale. Caldo Verde was phenomenal! I think this was the best one we’ve ever had. Loved the Kielbasa instead of the usual Andouille in there, added a nice flavor to the seafood. Chicken was excellent as well. But have to squeeze the grilled lemon to really experience the burst of flavors. Piri piri made the entire dish along with the fries with the perfect amount of sea salt. And of course Caroline Styne’s wine recommendation was at par with the food we ordered. Was not too crazy about the rice pudding though. But great service and loved seeing both Caroline and Suzzane as they just opened for 10 days. Overall, great experience. Loved the decor and furnishings, very Mediterranean/Bohemian styled by Kelly Wearstler Just what Suzzane is known for. CV is an excellent addition to AOC. Great job! Next stop - Cara Cara!

Service was fantastic! They have plenty of vegan options. My server, Izzy, went out of his way to make sure I had plenty of options. Way more than I was expecting. The food was fresh and delicious. The manager checked on us several times. She even brought me treats for my dog.

The food was over the top. Every bite of food was amazing. Kale and Farro salad was beyond my expectations. Beef Cheeks were the best I have ever had. My wife loved her Chanterelles over polenta. The room is warm and inviting. Room very well designed. From the time you walk into the hotel everyone is so happy to see you. Caldo Verde made an ordinary week night EXTRAORDINARY.
