    I grabbed a reservation for a table for one. Had impeccable service and food came out very quickly. Got the fish tacos and the roasted cauliflower. Both were phenomenal. I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat.

    We had such a good time here! Drinks were amazing, food was delicious, service was knowledgeable and relaxed. I would go back just for the houseware tortilla chips which were not the usual chip. It’s now on my list of favorite restaurants in Oakland!

    Sat outside, we always bring blankets! Friendly waiters, the food is always good and there are plenty of interesting choices for vegetarians. We've eaten here several times and it's been great every time.

    Three of us shared 4 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert. All of them were delicious, well-plated, and generous in serving size. The mole was outstanding; something very rare outside of Mexico. Service was perfect - attentive but not intrusive. Recommend reserving monitored parking via Spot Hero or such.

    Service was fantastic! Nice restaurant and bar. Certain food selection’s like the shrimp tacos, nopales, roasted corn, and shrimp quesadilla were well made, flavorful and we would definitely get them again. Unfortunately, the mole chicken enchiladas were very dry and somewhat flavorless - by the way, for $20 bucks, how can you not provide some beans or rice with the dish. $10 per enchilada is a crime. The fish entree was extremely oily and flavorless as well, but the risotto served on the plate was a hit out of the park. That could have been its own dish. The queso flameado was another solid choice, especially with the chorizo. It’s worth getting the extra tortillas (although a bit pricey - $5 for just 4 small corn tortillas) with the order. I’m not certain how one would expect anyone to eat that cheese plate, as a starter, with just two. It appeared intentional. That said, we will definitely go again. The great outweighed the not so great. Finally, please be sure to contact restaurant about their dinner menu, it seems a few of their popular dishes are no longer being served, which was a big disappointment for my group that night. Also, a word of advice to the restaurant, don’t provide specials of the day to your guests when you’re sold out of them. It’s inevitably a disappointment you could have prevented. Although a mixed review, I still think it’s well worth the visit. Cheers!

    Really nice space, GREAT food and bartender was super friendly and attentive. We loved all the dishes we got - fish tacos, chips w/ guac and salsas and the mole enchiladas. It would have been nice if the enchiladas came with a little side or something to help balance the rich (and delicious!) flavors of the mole.

    Party of four mature women celebrating our long and longish lives. The outdoor seating is heated. The tables are a nice size. The chairs comfortable even for a full figured guest. Lots of space between tables. We could hear neighboring guests enjoying themselves AND easily hear each other. The food is delicious. The drinks sublime. The staff, every single one, from server to waiter, patient, friendly, and utterly charming. We were allowed to linger at our table since it was quiet Sunday afternoon. I come here many times a year for celebrations and just to have lunch. Ten stars. No, one hundred!

    The service at Calavera was delightful, quick, and excellent. That’s why it makes me sad to give such a terrible review to the food. The best things on the menu were the quacamole and incredible chips. My meal, the chicken mole, tasted awful. The chicken was tough and flavorless and I’m glad I had the spicy mole sauce on the side. The rice was over-spiced and did not go well with the chicken. The flan we had for dessert was not good at all. It was served with smoked huckleberries that made the flan not taste sweet and creamy as expected, but more savory liked smoked cheese. The parking around Calaveras was a nightmare to find. I would not go to this restaurant again despite the great service and ambiance.

    All 3 entrees were excellent. The mezcal margarita was excellent too. It's a beautiful place, but a bit pricey. The only real criticism is that the churro dessert was way over-priced at $14.

    Loved everything about this place. Cool restaurant great cocktails and wonderful fresh food. Not traditional Mexican food smothered in cheese with tons of rice and beans. This is an elevated experience, and we loved it and will be back. I recommend the fish and carnitas tacos and the roasted cauliflower.

    The food was seriously incredible. Whole fish was well worth it and I’d eat every single thing we tried (again). Just came back from Mexico last week and this was better than most of the food I was eating. Mole was great, Aguachile was great, tacos were great - margs were STRONG

    Went during the week and it wasn’t too busy, but the service was slow, inattentive. Food was good but not piping hot. Sat outdoors on a cold day. They have heaters but not enough; will sit inside if it’s cold again.

    My friend and I had 6PM reservations on a Friday evening. Turns out we didn't need the reservations, since it hadn't started getting busy yet. We were seated right away. I had fish tacos, which were excellent with a combination of flavors that worked beautifully together. My friend had a great salad entree with chicken. Very pleasant atmosphere, good food and great service!

    Great food. Service wasn’t great. By the end of the meal, I wasn’t sure who my server was. The person who took our order never came back. A different person took our dessert order. Didn’t get our drinks until I was almost finished eating the entree.
