There is only 1 issue with this restaurant. They do not have a phone. So if you need to call them prior to your arrival, hotel won’t share your message with them. Claims they are separate entities.
I needed to change my amount of people from 6 to 4. But couldn’t tell them before I showed up. They are new place and still working out the kinks I think! Otherwise food was awesome & lovely atmosphere! Recommend! ✅
The restaurant is on the top floor of the latest addition to the Santa Monica hotels. Beautiful view of the ocean, Century City, and downtown (if it's not cloudy). Great bar area. Very noisy in the early evening when it's the most crowded. Once the crowd thins out, it's more enjoyable. Interesting eclectic menu.

Food was ok. Drinks were expensive and a poor pour. Valet parking was $17 dollars after spending $300 on dinner.
After ordering our cocktails, 3 or 4 drinks were delivered within 15 minutes. It was over 30 minuets to receive the fourth cocktail. About 8 or 9 minutes after we spoke to the manager. He was gracious and removed the charges from our first round. We ordered about 6 different items from the menu and another round of drinks. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing to come back for. The ambiance was as we thought it might be but even louder than expected.
I believe the food top is much more of a bar than a place for a meal. About 3 weeks into the opening is not enough.
They need much more time to get it together.
Food was amazing. Service was terrible.
It was a fun energetic atmosphere but trying a little too hard to be a hip trendy spot. Over priced to boot. Nice to be on the roof but not a great ocean view. Still trying to work the kinks out as they've only been open for 3 weeks. Waiter had a bit of an attitude. But then other staff came and were delightful.
$16.50 to park & have dinner at a coffee table with hordes of drunks around you, NO THANK YOU!!!!
Made reservations for dinner and when we got there they said kitchen is closed already and we can only order drinks.
great on every account. servers and management were first rate. setting and food were equally good.
I just visited Calabra for the first time last weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. There is no signage to get to Calabra from the ground floor, and we found it confusing how to get to the roof. Once we got up there, there was no hostess at the stand. After standing around for a few minutes, we grabbed a wait staff to help. They sat us down in two lounge chairs facing the bar, so no view for us.
The drinks were good (albeit very expensive at $19). We ordered a couple of dips and a side of bread (this was honestly the best part of the meal).
We were so excited to try Calabra for the first time. The property has been extensively renovated or newly constructed with architectural elan in a natural element palette, with a welcoming lobby arrival to the rooftop pool deck, bar and restaurant. The hosting staff were charming if a bit green: what should have been a two-minute process took ten. The partially enclosed seating area looks south to the bar area, which has the real view. While appealing to the eye, the seating choices (rustic bent-wood chairs that are uncomfortable to sit in, or, deep low sofas that are comfortable but hard to eat from) were not thought out as to guest comfort and ease in dining. It's a trend these days, I guess, but function should trump form in these cases. Our waiter was polished and the service was excellent. The kitchen wins the big award here, as the menu in wonderful in its Mediterranean "madness" and the flavors are distinct and bold, with colors to match. Go for the food, drinks and views; choose your seating with care.
Fantastic service and incredible hospitality from the Proper Hotel. I cannot speak highly enough about the management team and wait staff. My reservation was for a large group of friends to drink, nibble and celebrate my birthday.
This place is brand new and they are definitely still working out the kinks. There was no hostess so I seated myself at the recommendation of other patrons who said they had done just that. The tables are next to the bar so I could have just gone up to order but after about 20 minutes a server came to the table. The ambiance is lovely so I didn't mind the wait.
since it was in it's first week hard to be critical and we only had lunch.I found the menu did not have enough choice. The area to eat is tight as the sun in the day is deadly and there were no awnings
Overall very pleasant
The service was horrible took 10 min to get a drink the waiter was not sharp food nothing mind blowing
Calabra is a great new addition to our neighborhood. Very hip and cool. The staff are top notch and the food is delicious.
Brand new and still working on the kinks. I’ll be coming back once they officially launch for the Meze Plate, it’s fantastic!
