Cal Mare - MGM Springfield
Our meal and the service was excellent. Sonia was a wonderful server and we enjoyed all of her recommendations.
This was a holiday weekend Saturday night, so not a typical dinner experience. Nevertheless, they did a good job and the food and wine were delicious. The menu is somewhat limited, but enough to satisfy.
We were pleased with our appetizers and meals.. very ecclectic and tasty..great wine and beer lists..
Food was very good. The service was ok they were a little slow
Food was very good. The staff was very accommodating. Service was also very good
We split apps, pizza and a meal. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was fantastic and really knew the menu!!
Amazing service and food. A bit pricey- great choice for a special occasion.
No “normal” food choices on menu. I couldn’t understand basically what anything was on the menu. We had to ask a lot of questions. The Bread was cold. Pricey.
Server was very nice. Sangria was just okay. Won’t be back
Outstanding waitress! It was like she was a mindreader!
Consistently good food ...we ate the brussels sprouts and the braciole salad before we could take pictures! Our server Christine was attentive and knowledgeable!
Great night with friends. I had read some bad reviews and our visit proved those wrong. We were seated at the time of our reservation ( Saturday at 5:30) and when we asked for a 'low' table, it was not a problem. We had 2 female servers who were great and gave us tons of attention. We loved all our food...white mushroom-pizza with egg, saffron and oxtail pasta and the popular lasagna rotelle. Too full for desserts. Prices similar to Northampton or East Longmeadow. The location is great for some MGM fun.
Great food, great service. Rachel did a great job
Food was excellent Im a foodie lack of knowledge of staff regarding ingrediences and types
Food was great but took a long time for everything to be delivered from drinks, apps, food, dessert, and check.
Excellent experience for all of us! We were celebrating a birthday and we loved the card waiting at the table very nice touch
It was my birthday, there was a birthday card on the table from the staff when I got there, nice touch! The ambiance was not quite what I expected, it is open and understated. Also, they serve takeout pizza from the same area, it’s nice, but just not what I expected. Our server Dawn was awesome, the food and drinks were very good, everyone at the table was happy. The staff brought out a candle in my desert and sang for my birthday, felt sorry for them lol. It’s a nice restaurant, I would recommend.
Honestly, I didn't want to write such a bad review, but after spending as much money as we did, I wanted to prevent someone else from such a waste of money and avoid the disappointment. In summary, the service was greatly below my expectations for fine dining- I've had better service at a fast food chain restaurant. The prices were outrageous for the quality and quantity of food/drinks. Vodka martini was $16 !!! Served in a small, cheap glass that had water spots. Food was served lukewarm at best.
So, did we reach out to management to complain? Yes, and they listened and then went on their merry way. If you like large crowds, noise and mediocre service and food, then this is the place for you.
We ordered 2 appetizers. We got them about 30 minutes apart. Not at the same time. The stuff peppers were laughable. They were so small that it’s actually ridiculous to even serve to people. Linguine with clam sauce was not even served with linguine and tasted horrible. My eggplant was so thick and covered in garlic.
Our sever was not attentive at all and I feel was annoyed that we questioned him about the appetizer timing. Very disappointed with our meal.
Very small menu and the food was not great. Furthermore the atmosphere is not like a cozy restaurant since the proximity and openness to all the slot machines is too close. Walls would make this better along with a nicer Italian menu variety. We will not go to this restaurant again.
second time dining. the service is still not great and the menu is short and has not changed since the opening. the food was somewhat mediocre this time. like the lasagna, the other pasta dish was overcooked. the appetizers were of average quality. the waitress was inexperienced and a bit weird. dry, clerk-like personality. the hostesses were also not very welcoming. the bus staff was good and friendly though.
Tuna tar tar was very good. But it was missing the toast points. They were not forgotten . They didn't know how it was suppose to be served. Way to bright inside Ambiance pretty terrible. Black ink pasta was also excellent. Food worth going for.
Excellent food. Service was great. Highly recommend.
I ordered Pork chop entree was suppose to come with grilled peach it didn’t. Instead it should come with a vegetable to complete the $29. Meal, second time eating here very nice restaurant
Great food, but small portions. The service was excellent
Everything made for a wonderful experience.
This place is amazing! The cocktails were unique, the beer was well aggregated. The food was extremely unique. I recommend the squid ink tagilitvli.
Delicious apps, and our meals were excellent
Food not good at all.
Menu did not describe the entree
Really nice spot - not to be compared w/its sister restaurant in San Fran - but good food for good value. Did not like its prosecco collection by the glass, but some good red wines, nice fresh dishes. Staff top notch in terms of friendliness and attentiveness.
Everything was great except for the music. Didn’t belong in an Italian restaurant
Food was delicious, a little pricey, but we really enjoyed it. Our waitress was wonderful!!
Everyone there was so unbelievably friendly. We met 5 different staff all willing to do everything to make it an amazing experience for my friends 21st birthday dinner first stop! Thanks Cal Mare. They even wrote her a happy birthday card !
Party of 8 Service very good, however meals not adequate for 3 diners. They did replace meals that were returned with same original problems. Dessert was provided complimentary. The wine prices were some of the most expensive I have ever encountered! Don’t think we would return.
Enjoyable from greeting to finish. Staff was beyond efficient, helpful, pleasant and informative. Food was beyond my high expectations. I tried a new selection and was once again so impressed with the entire experience.
It was nice being greeted with a birthday card signed by staff for my husband. I will speak about my food.
My appetizer, the stuffed peppers, were very tasty. My entree, the spaghetti with clams, was fair. The pasta, for being homemade, was not very good, and I had about 4 little clams in the whole dish. Not a great amount for the price. I had the 3 cannolis with iced coffee for dessert which was perfect for the end of an Italian dinner. My step-son's pizza looked great, and he liked it a lot. My husband had the lasagna which was served as pinwheels in a square pan instead of layered. He thought it was very good, but he had a hard time accessing the lasagna with that creative presentation. Would I go back? Maybe for pizza. It was very noisy because the restaurant opens up to the casino. There is no barrier to block it off.
Very nice night!
It was just ok
Drinks were late (they were late at the steakhouse at MGM also?)
Appetizer of zeppole was amazing
Pasta dish was ok. Cup of pasta and 5oz of lobster (questionable) for $24.
Dessert was not good.
Very good food, though a small menu. Nicely decorated, however, very open, loud, and brightly lit like a cafeteria. They really need to put up some decorative barriers to give greater privacy and some nicer ( dimmer) ambient lighting, because it seems like a university cafeteria as it is.
Excellent addition to Western Mass - casual fine dining in the new MGM.
Had our family Thanksgiving Dinner (special menu) at Cal Mare. Can’t say enough about the excellent service. Well-trained staff. Personable. Knowledgeable about the food. Look forward to returning to try the regular menu. Great addition to the burgeoning Western Mass culinary scene.
