We didn't get seated until more than 30 minutes after our reservation time and had we not been proactive in checking we would never have been seated. They did try to make up for it with free bread and a little more attention at the table. The food was ok. Lots of bread and sauce but not worth the price. The crab on my pasta was watery and not great. I thought it would be higher end food. But it's not.

New Italian seafood restaurant on the ground floor of the Beverly Center. Shows promise, but there's room for improvement. Nice space and friendly service. Several dishes were great, including the spicy calamari (smaller portion but great flavor), grilled ocean trout, and buffalo mozzarella with ham wrapped zepole. The focaccia with cheese sauce doesn't work and the pasta alla chittara was over-sauced. Really interesting wine list. On the whole, could be a terrific addition to the LA restaurant scene in time.

The restaurant was trying so hard to be good but the food couldn’t match the effort.
The staff was really nice but a little slow, the restaurante itself is really pretty and has a nice vibe to it but the food left a lot to be desire.

Way too expensive for a mall restaurant. $54 for Branzino? And for that---no tablecloths---no ambience.

I was excited to try this restaurant because of Michael Mina. I must say I was somewhat disappointed. I ordered the pancake with spicy shrimp and it was ok nothing that is memorable. My pasta with clams was so salty it was almost inedible. My husband had the branzino with a friend and that was edible but not great. Another friend ordered the pizza with sausage to start and that was the best dish. Overall the food was very mediocre. Maybe because the restaurant is very new. I will wait 6 month and try again.

Incomprehensibly bad in every way, and insultingly expensive. The langouste ravioli being the most egregious example of dissillusion.

The restaurant won’t last more than a year.

Was the perfect spot for New Years Eve. Lovely, attentive staff. Great ambience. And the food was incredible. Every dish was perfection. The lobster pizza, the pumpkin crab Angioletti, the Uni cauliflower, and the blowfish tails were our favorites.

The drinks menu was kinda limited, we asked for recommendations but not very happy with the results, the food menu was also limited and small portions given the amount of food...also hard to forget that you're eating in a mall..

The meal was astonishingly good. There are two tasting menu options. We got the larger one and it was a meal that rivaled Providence

The place is good and trendy. However, all dishes were so salty, so you can not eat it without a glass of water.
The service was poor too. It was easier to serve a bottle of wine by myself...
So, I strongly recommend to the chef to pay more attention at these aspects.

First time and we felt like regulars. Fast, friendly service - like every other Mina restaurant. However, when we told the waitress we came at the suggestion of a currently deployed military service family member, we received a handwritten "Thank You for Your Service" card signed by every employee on duty that night - the food is amazing but the "care factor" of everyone at Cal Mare is extraordinary. A similar card signing occurred at Mina's Bourbon LA dinner on the last night in the US before this deployment - and included a tour of the kitchen led by the Executive Chef. Great people working at great restaurants deserve our recognition -THANK YOU!

Fine, decent food but not worth writing home about. Stone oven pizza was above average, the rest of the meal was fine.

Amazing experience. Got there a little later and we were a little afraid that we may be rushed out but it was quite the contrary. Waiter was very friendly and the manager took the best care of us. Forgive me for forgetting the names of our dishes. Start with the cinnamon roll with cheese fondue drizzled over it, next the prosciutto and mozzarella melt in your mouth. There was a sashimi tuna dish that was one of the most flavorful things I’ve tasted in a long time. It was an orange, mint and pepper combination that sounds weird but is like a party for your tastebuds. To top it off, the entree was a squash pasta with crab. I couldn’t get enough. I will definitely be going back. I’ve honestly never had such a wonderful dining experience.

If you spend the money and are nice they really take care of you. The caviar was excellent. One of the head chefs, Adam Sobel, came over and introduced himself. I will go again when my daughter comes to town this March. She is a real gourmet and will love it. The wines were very good. I think there is a wine steward but not sure because we never saw her or him. We ordered wine by the glass only with a great mixed drink.

Very good food
Typical Los Angeles “ order multiple dishes to share”.
I don’t understand having a high end Italian restaurant that from the outside looks like an El Torito or Chipotle in a mall. While the food was excellent, it’s not a Mall restaurant. I don’t think sitting on the patio with a view of men’s warehouse is appetizing it seems like it goes together when eating a $21 appetizer.
I feel like this would have been better located someplace else.

Well done Michael Mina. In all, a delightful gastronomic experience. Superb service!! And you've just opened. It was a pleasur e meeting you, Adam, and Dennaro who pampered us all night!

We will return often, the Tagliatelli was my favorite dish that evening, with the Patara pie a close second. In addition, diners should try the digestive Limoncello after dinner, which is made in the premises. They have a variety of flavors, but the Classic was unforgettable.
Bravo Mr. Mina. I can't wait for your other venues at that location to arrive and delight.
