It's odd that at fish restaurante, the catch of the day was not available... It was only in the menu - and appeared in the account! After complaining, it was removed from it.
Burrata was not available either. Had to call the waiter many times for him to see us. Disappointment.

This new restaurant needs to get their act together in the kitchen....very, very slow and many dishes were bland and boring. I'd pass on the sand dabs, braised octopus, and the farinata pancake. The two noteworthy dishes were the pasta and the branzino. Service from waitstaff was very good. Reception did not react to special notes in reservation despite requests on original reservation and confirming it on telephone day before dinner!!

The food: outstanding - get the mozzarella & caviar and the branzino (both big enough for 2)
The ambiance: they could lose the fake bougainvillea over the bar, but otherwise: gorgeous. The outdoor patio looks like it could be fun too.
The service: very good (not great). But they redeemed themselves at the end with a bonbon and some limoncello.
The location: eh. Maybe it will improve once the rest of the mall is fixed up.

All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had the yellow fin tuna, pumpkin agnolotti, rigatoni di mare, carbonara pizza, and tons of desserts. We enjoyed them all as their ingredients are fresh and flavors are just bursting in your mouth. We also had their melleti and limoncello. I definitely recommend this place and we will be back for sure. Nice place to meet up with friends or grab a bite after shopping.

Met my cousin for a catch-up dinner at Cal Mare and it was incredible. Creative Italian seafood and great pizza options too. We had the rainbow cauliflower, the cheese and caviar, monkfish osso bucco - everything was impeccable. Great decor, knowledgeable bar staff, vibrant scene. Would most definitely go again when in LA!

All 5 of us celebrated our birthday which are a few days apart from each other. The food was amazing. Disappointed about the noise level, just too noisy. Not a great place to hold an event, unless those who aren’t part of it can all fit on the patio. There was an event. Someone was talking on the microphone for an extended period of time , and I can’t imagine anyone understood I thing she was saying, we couldn’t and we were in the midst of it all. The way it’s layered out there isn’t much privacy. The location was once a California Pizza Kitchen. In a nutshell, great food but the wrong venue.

Food was very delicious, creative, and unlike other italian restaurants in the area. However, I expected the food to be coursed but all came out at once, so beware if you would like to direct the restaurant to do otherwise. Made the meal feel rushed and we had a VERY crowded table, which lowered the caliber of the experience. Also, service was lacking-- started off strong but I think our waiter got lost once he took our order. Maybe kinks to be worked out since the restaurant is still new. Overall, the food experience was worth checking it out and maybe we were just there on an off night.

Overall a nice casual Cali vibe. Nice menu, food was good, BUT honestly could have been better if it was less salted (very heavy on the salt!)
Would go back & try again

Lovely setting, although it’s hard to uproot Harry’s Bar in Venice and successfully transplant it to a Mall. The food has yet to find its footing except for the pasta which is on solid ground. The Pistachio Gelato with Amarena Cherries was worth the hassle of searching for a spot to park in the garage labyrinth.

The food here--everything we had from start to finish--was excellent. Flavorful, cooked to perfection and made right in front of you in the open kitchen. The wine list has some really unusual but reasonably priced options and the service was excellent. I tend to be put off by high end Italian restaurants but Cal Mare strikes a great balance with a warm, casual atmosphere and generous portions that give you a fine dining experience without the stuffiness.

Good was good some even excellent (cauliflower, crisp) but the noise level was almost unbearable. Portions are large. Unlike most restaurants today with this level of quality, portions were truly sized to share. Areas for improvement besides the noise: potatoes with the fish overwhelmed the fish rather than compliment it.

I've got to be honest and say that I am dumbfounded to find even one negative review of this establishment.

What can you ask for from a restaurant as a foodie? An attentive and friendly staff? A great open view of the kitchen? Wonderful ambiance? High quality, unique dining options with good portions at reasonable prices to set the stage for a wonderful dining experience?

They hit the nail on the head and then some in all categories...They even wrote me a birthday card which the staff signed and provided for me at the end of my meal.

The little things are what make or break a high quality restaurant and they have got it down.

I will 100% return to this restaurant for dinner in the future and hopefully I'll be able to make frequent trips for lunch when they hammer out all of the fine details to offer lunch dining.

Wasn't a huge fan of the restaurant sadly and probably won't return. Our food took a very long time to arrive and pasta that I ordered was way too salty - I ended up returning it. Also, tables are so close together which could be great to make friends but not when you're on a date/special occasion.

I and my wife dined at Cal Mare during the dineLA restaurant week. We made a reservation for 2 at 5:30 and reached the restaurant around 5:20 pm, let the hostess know that we have a reservation for 5:30, interestingly she asked us to wait till 5:30 to be seated, this is in-spite if they serving dinner from 4pm and having most of the restaurant empty. So we decided to grab a drink at the bar while we wait. And at 5:30 we were taken to our table. And a server comes greets us and gives us the menu and talks about the dineLA offering etc so we both decided to go with the dineLA menu which is 4 Course $49 menu. The food came out of the kitchen at good pace but it just wasn’t worth $49. We had heard that it was named the best new restaurant by EaterLA but by the end of the night we dint feel like any of the dishes we tasted truly stood out. So bottom line the ambience is great and the wait staff was good by the food lacked that punch.

We loved our meal at Cal Mare. The entire experience was fantastic. We had a great waiter who seemed very passionate about the food and explained everything very well. Everything on the DineLA menu was phenomenal and we also added other dishes to sample. The entire staff was fantastic and this was a great date experience for a somewhat-fancy place.

I called the restaurant 30 minutes before our table reservation time and was immediately asked to put on hold to which I replied “sure” thinking it was only going to be a couple minutes but after 10 minutes of being on hold I hung up and called back. Again upon answering they asked to put me on hold, I said “ok” and was back to waiting again for another 8 minutes before she finally came back.

I told the lady that we had reservations but we were going to be a little late (about 5 minutes or so) due to traffic on the 101 and she said okay thanks for letting us know and we’ll see you soon. However by the time we got there

Thrilled to have a Michael Mina restaurant in the area. Our service and food was fantastic. We lucked out and went during dine LA. We were able to try many items at a great value. Loved the spicy calamari , roasted cauliflower and buratta. The fish of the day and oven brick chicken was delicious. It was a perfect ending with tiramisu gelato! Can't wait to go back.
Wish you were open for lunch.

We didn't get seated until more than 30 minutes after our reservation time and had we not been proactive in checking we would never have been seated. They did try to make up for it with free bread and a little more attention at the table. The food was ok. Lots of bread and sauce but not worth the price. The crab on my pasta was watery and not great. I thought it would be higher end food. But it's not.

New Italian seafood restaurant on the ground floor of the Beverly Center. Shows promise, but there's room for improvement. Nice space and friendly service. Several dishes were great, including the spicy calamari (smaller portion but great flavor), grilled ocean trout, and buffalo mozzarella with ham wrapped zepole. The focaccia with cheese sauce doesn't work and the pasta alla chittara was over-sauced. Really interesting wine list. On the whole, could be a terrific addition to the LA restaurant scene in time.

I was excited to try this restaurant because of Michael Mina. I must say I was somewhat disappointed. I ordered the pancake with spicy shrimp and it was ok nothing that is memorable. My pasta with clams was so salty it was almost inedible. My husband had the branzino with a friend and that was edible but not great. Another friend ordered the pizza with sausage to start and that was the best dish. Overall the food was very mediocre. Maybe because the restaurant is very new. I will wait 6 month and try again.
