Home to the flavorsome platters of South Louisiana, Cajun Queen is a converted home restaurant, the architecture of which dates back to the vintage early 18th century. A nostalgic iteration of the 1980's New Orleans greets the visiting patrons, with purple, green and golden themed décor priming the interiors at Cajun Queen. Making reservations was easy. Once we got to the restaurant, we were seated right away. Waiter was nice however at the end of the meal, my husband was very clear about wanting his leftovers. At the end of our meal, he took our plates and we paid our bill, we never saw him or our leftovers again. That was a little disappointing. Also I mentioned on my reservation that it was our Anniversary. Nothing was said. It would have been nice to have it acknowledged in some small way.

I had a reservation for a special date/event. It was a first time try for my girlfriend. I talked the place up so she could try it. Once she heard beignets and shrimp scampi, she was sold. I had a reservation for 1:30, not only was I sat late, we waited 40+ minutes to be served. It was not busy, and servers were literally standing, talking and laughing. My girlfriend ordered her food to go, and the food was stone cold once we received it. I was highly dissatisfied. In the past I never really had issues but this time I was absolutely outrageous.

The shrimp appetizer was only shrimp in sauce. Delicious but not what I expected for an appetizer. White rice, potatoes and broccli were the two primary items served with the entrees. Sweet potatoe or polenta and other green vegetable options would have been nice. Quaint house conversion. Keeping the spaces separated by walls gave the dining rooms an excellent sense of intimacy although it is a large venue. It gave a sense of local warmth with elbow room and space to walk without disturbing the guests next door. Valentines Day venue. Wooden floors. Nice cafe tables upstairs with platform for live music. I would go back.

Our food was good. However our server Scott was distant on his communication with us. He didnt tell us about the daily specials that were available. He didn't offer us any complimentary bread the entire time we were dining We had to ask a busser for bread before we left because we saw another waiter bring out bread to their table. He just did not seem friendly for a server. But I have 3 stars for service because my great aunt did not like the Diane dish it was too spicy so Scott got it swapped out for something way less spicy and he kept our water glasses filled. Maybe he was just having a bad day. But we will go back hopefully we will get a different server

The food was good as usual. Our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer. We never received the complimentary bread that is usually served either. I had the New Orleans Platter, and the scallops were cooked perfectly as always. The bathrooms were nasty and full of flying insects.

Self Parking is always an issue. They encourage valet parking but I'm not incline to trust them with my vehicle. They tend to move around a lot and park extremely close.

Popped in for a quick meal before an event. Lucked into Jazmyn (Jasmin?) as our server. She was delightful — knowledgeable, funny, attentive without being intrusive. Made the evening even nicer. Started with the fried green tomatoes with remoulade. The tomatoes were nice and crispy, remoulade fine, but could’ve had a bit more kick. Also enjoyed a Hurricane and my husband had a Sazerac. Both good. My husband had the crawfish etouffee which he loved. Generous portion, nicely seasoned. I had the fried oysters with Cole slaw and garlic mashed potatoes. Oysters were super crispy on the outside while still being plump and juicy in each bite. I had never had their oysters before, and was not disappointed in the least. Finished with a shared bread pudding, always tasty.

This was my first time...the popcorn crawfish was so good we had 2 orders!! I'm very sensitive to very spicy food so I asked for the BBQ shrimp and the waitress said the chef could do it mild which im cool with a little heat...needless to say it was so spicy I got chocked...but no fault on the chef...Im sure some folks love food that spicy...I just dont do well with it but the shrimp and grits were good too!!
