Caffe Roma Ratings and Reviews
I highly recommend you make a really late or really early dinner reservation to take advantage of Happy Hour (it goes until 10 pm) - they won't let you go back and forth from table to bar once you have been seater. Their DJ was playing amazing music - if you like latin and hip hop, fun place to be. It wasn't overly crowded and bottle service was available. Would definitely go again when in the area. Not to mention we had dinner next to one celebrity and stood in the bar next to yet another one. Location is small and intimate - no large crowds.
Cafe Roma on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills has been here for years, sadly the it is not as good as it once was. The food quality
was bad; the seafood pasta which Is my usual had hard rubbery shrimp which were either overcooked or not fresh. The chopped salad was pathetic, more like chopped celery as that's the majority of the vegetable present, had this sent back. The pesto fusilli was average as was the calamari.
Service from the hostess and waitress was placid and unfriendly. Our waitress disappeared. The male servers were nice and attentive. The only redeeming quality about Cafe Roma was its location on Canon Drive which gets high foot traffic by a stylish crowd to watch and be seen.
Unless the food quality and service improves, I cannot recommend this restaurant, pass.
Café Roma is lovely, sophisticated without being stuffy place. A lovely spot to have a negroni with friends and enjoy good Italian food. It is more expensive than the food warrants, but you are in the heart of Beverly Hills. Our service was a bit lacking. The waiter didn't know the ingredients for various dishes and spilled wine on one of the diners.
Too chaotic. Too loud. Lack of curtesy for the customers. Only focused on bussiness aspect. Our table was on the way of the servers. They should have never accepted our reservation. Literally had to ask the server for Parmesan cheese seven times. She had an attitude as if she was doing us a favor. Still tipped her well because of the holiday spirit.
Bitterly disappointed, first time I have ever had to return a meal because there was so much salt in it, it could not be eaten. The waiter took my dish away and handed it to the Manager who walked around with it for ten mins and was more interested in taking a phone call. My brother was half way through his meal before the manager approached me and offered me a free dessert, which I politely declined. He was very blase about the situation, I have eaten in numerous restaurants in Beverley Hills, I will never return to Cafe Roma.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We had a party of 8 that they squeezed into a table for 6(watched them do the same to two other groups). The food was average at best. Some in our party politely told me they did not enjoy their meal(I was treating) and one in our party sent his food back because it was fishy smelling and tasting. The drinks were great but overall the experience was poor. I won't be going back.
The hostess set the tone by greeting us like the most important people in the restaurant.
It was a sunny day and the waiters were doing their best to adjust the umbrellas and give us constant shade.
The food was not only delicious, but they made several adjustments to our orders to customize it to our likes.
I have enjoyed Cafe Roma for about 20 years now. I love going back.
I have been here many times when the food and service had always been great, this was a deciding factor in going there on Valentine's Day. This time it was "just OK" to mediocre. The food came out lukewarm, the waiters were mediocre, we had to keep asking for things....such as a wine list, which at most restaurants of this supposed caliber would have come with the dinner menu, water and dessert/coffee menu. Our waiter though nice, seemed like he was preoccupied and just putting on a face, he came off as ungenuine. The tip was already included on the bill, not that I particularly minded, but there were only 4 of us and that usually is reserved for a party of 5 or more AND it wasn't written anywhere.
I have had lunch on the enclose patio many times. The ambiance is superb - you feel as if you are in a café in Rome. The lunch buffet is a superb value for the high-quality selection offered. Service is efficient, yet relaxed at your own pace. Combined with the fantastic Los Angeles weather, why travel to Italy?!?!?!
We brought our houseguests from Australia to dinner at Cafe Roma because we had theater tickets to Love Letters at The Wallis Annenberg Performing Arts Center. Dinner was perfect, service terrific! And, we had a leisurely dinner and still made the play with time to spare.
I had high hopes for dining at Cafe Roma. They were dashed from the very moment we stood waiting for 10 minutes to be greeted by anybody. The host was no where to be seen and though other staff were there nobody acknowledged that we were standing there. I was just about ready to walk when finally a waiter helped us, found our reservation and sat us. Our first waitress was very attentive and service was great. Then she went on a break 40 minutes into our dinner and her replacement was not attentive at all. She cleared our dinner plates, and dessert at that point was an option, but since it was another 15 minutes of just sitting and waiting after our table was cleared, and we had theater, we did not. I hate it when staff take breaks in the middle of service. It shows that the restaurant does not know how to staff their restaurant and the patron is not important. Recommended dishes: beef carpaccio, dinner salad, pasta with sausage and mushrooms. I will not return.
The food was pretty basic, nothing special. I also ordered their Soup Special (Basil tomato ) and after one spoon had to send it back! It had so much da lt in it iv the junk my cardiologist would have had a heart the attack. Noise was way too kucj, there was a live singer at u he other end of the patio blaring out tuneless berses; should retire. Overall a very marginal experience.
Our waitress was really nice, a u oung English girl and I think it was her first day working at the restaurant.
What a lovely restaurant. And always accommodating of a group. Our waiter and the wait staff were very nice and tried to be attentive. the restaurant was not busy but the kitchen was extremely slow. Something was off in their timing. One person ordered a salad as their main course and it arrived last, almost as an afterthought.
Alas, the requirement is to not be in a hurry, because the kitchen is not.
The service was a little slow although the servers were very nice and helpful. They did not pick up plates and did not check back. The food was good with a fairly large selection. The burrata with grilled vegetables was delicious. The patio area was very comfortable
The service was excellent. The food was disappointing, especially for a weekend night. It was greasy, sloppy and did not taste good at all. I am only one person. I was there only once. Other dishes may taste fantastic. I would not go there for the food. Otherwise It was a nice atmosphere, lively bar, good service and a great location.
