Caffe Regatta Ratings and Reviews
A great local restaurant in Pelham. It is the mid-point between friends who live in CT and on LI, and we have been meeting there at least twice per year for 6-7 years now, and have always had an excellent meal and friendly service. the food is delicious, and creative, and they don't "overload" you with portions (as restaurants with lesser quality food often do!). And, the price is right. Highly recommended.
My husband and I dined at Caffe Regatta for the first time for restaurant week. Overall I would say our experience was average mostly due to the food. The level of service we received was excellent and would be the reason we'd consider returning. We chose not to partake in the restaurant week menu as it wasn't to our liking but that was okay. We shared crab cakes for an appetizer that were very flavorful and a good enough portion (2) for us to share. Ample crab and not an excess amount of filler. Dinner however we were less than impressed with unfortunately. My husband had the maple salmon and it had a few bones in it and was very sweet. I had the shrimp scampi and I thought that was sweet as well. To make up for the bones in his salmon the server gave us a piece of carrot cake and it was delicious. Our server checked on us multiple times without being pushy or disrupting our conversation and he, without any complaints from us presented us with desert. This was a wonderful gesture and not necessary but his service throughout the overall dining experience will be the reason we try Caffe Regatta again.
Another great evening at Cafe Regatta. We were there during restaurant week and their dinner menu featured several creative, seasonal offerings. My husband opted to order lobster off the regular menu and said it was perfectly cooked. Service was warm and welcoming as usual. Always enjoy our visits there.
I like this place -- good food, decent prices, excellent service -- but it is noisy, mostly from raucous patrons. It seems like it's not sure what vibe it wants -- the food and prices are upscale, but the ambiance is neighborhood. When I spend this much on a nice dinner, I want a quieter, more sophisticated vibe.
Delicious food with all the right touches...fried goat cheese inn the spinach salad...delicious. We had lobsters that were broiled to perfection. Definitely worth the trip from Long Island up there.
Also our waiter, Luis was super attentive without being obtrusive!
Can't wait togo back!
Nice cozy place. Food is good. Our service staff didn't seem "with it" although I noticed that there were other waitstaff who were more on top of things and more focused.
We waited a while before I had to ask the busboy for someone to take our drink order.
Our waitstaff didn't seem like he wanted to work - didn't make recommendations, disinterested and just wanted us to order and not make substitutions. Wasn't rude or anything, just not "with it".
We'd ordered a seafood tower that involved using fingers and hands (lobster claw wasn't cracked for us) but were given no wet towels and no seafood crackers until they were asked for. Details like these matter if Cafe Regatta wants to be taken seriously as an upscale seafood restaurant since the prices do reflect as such.
The Veal Milanese needed a ragout or gravy component, too bland and dry with small portion of creamed spinach. The burrata appetizer was excellent. Oh sorry
I have to say the silverware was sub-par, we were told it was being replaced. Very sharp edges
Would love to go again
I don't know what restaurant all of the other reviewers went to, but Caffe Regatta is terrible. From the small details like rock hard rolls, and stone cold butter, to large issues like obviously microwave reheated food and Loud (I'm assuming) regulars screatching at the bar 4' away, this restaurant offended every one of my senses.
I've never been disappointed at this restaurant. The food is always good and so is the service. I usually get the seafood specials but this time I chose from the brunch menu and had one of their special salads along with a pasta dish. This is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends - or alone.
The food is fresh and awesome. Service is mediocre: I have seen a customer chase the hostess to pay; our waiter would drop stuff on the table without making space or making sure that the food was accessible to all - for example, he would bring the entrée without taking the appetizer plates (i.e., after the appetizers you need to clean up the table, make sure everybody has silverware at this point, and then you bring the entrees!!); when we left, the hostess didn't make eye contact to say goodnight. All in all, it is a good restaurant. The food and the ambiance are excellent - I will definitely go again.
The restaurant is comfortable & the food is quite good. The service is just OK. That's not because the wait staff is slow or inexperienced... it's because they're sarcastic. The humor they elect to deliver to the clients, should be left @ home. Everyone deserves respect.
We had a Groupon for a lobster dinner for 2. The lobsters were at least 1-1/2 pounders. The only thing they didn't have were lobster bibs. We ended up using many many napkins. Instead of the little packets for washing at the end, we got hot napkins. Much nicer.
We had to wait for our table. We were told the wine we requested was out of stock and were offered the house wine for the same price. We subsequently learned from another waiter that they actually had the wine we requested available. The dinner rolls were burned and when we requested a new basket we received slightly less-burned rolls that were hard and not even warm. There was almost no crab meat in the crab cakes and they were slightly burned and the crab and lobster chowder was a cream soup loaded with potatoes. An order of grouper was full of bones and the crab crusted fish had almost no crab. The king crab legs and salmon were fine. Potatoes were overly salted and some were charred and some were mushy. Desserts were a little better. Fresh strawberries and cream and bread pudding were delicious; but "gelato" had the taste and consistency of just regular ice cream and the molten chocolate cake was a very meager portion compared to the other desserts.
